Loft-style home: a creative mess for creatives. Loft-style house: projection, design, decoration and information on the main style parameters (100 photos) Loft-style cottage design

Thinking over the design and decoration of a home, many owners today are faced with a huge selection of options. The presence of many ideas and styles really makes you break your head, and often there is not enough money to implement the desired result. In this case, designers recommend preferring the "well forgotten old", which is rapidly returning to fashion again.

An excellent choice would be the interior decoration of the house in the loft style.

Features and characteristics

This is not to say that the loft is an absolute novelty in the world of interior design. This style originated in America back in the distant 50s. The lack of premises and new buildings forced the creative part of the population to equip their studios right in the attic or in industrial buildings. In order to somehow give the room a residential look, the owners went to all sorts of tricks, acquiring beautiful furniture and decorations. It was this incredible combination that gave rise to a new direction, which is recognized as one of the most fashionable today.

Loft style is a combination of negligence and subtle taste, allowing you to think over to the smallest detail how the house will look like. Distinctive features of the direction are, first of all, large spaces and clear geometric shapes. You will not find a lot of doorways and partitions here, because the visiting card of the "loft" is space and freedom. Additionally, it is worth noting the large windows that allow natural light to flood the room.

Decorating a country house in the loft style is an ideal solution for a creative and unusual personality. However, professionals recommend that you immediately pay attention to all the subtleties and think in advance about the location of various zones in the future home. It will also be useful to take into account the size of the house - with the right approach, both a one-story private house and a two-story small cottage will look spectacular.

Meaning an abundance of space, the loft style will be appropriate in the original mini-houses, which confidently occupy their niche in the real estate market. Such premises are also called "domillions", and sometimes they have 1.5 floors. Thanks to the practical layout, all areas of such a house can be used as efficiently as possible if it is decorated in a loft style. Choose simple shapes without cluttering the facade of your home with unnecessary details.

Prefab houses are just as good for experimentation. Firstly, such a house is being built very quickly, and its construction does not hit the wallet. Secondly, with the involvement of a good specialist, the house will stand for a long time and will delight the owner with strength. It is worth considering that it will be impossible to redesign it, therefore, if you decide to design a loft-style home, the internal layout must be done immediately. A frame country house, perfectly suited for recreation at any time of the year, would be a good idea.

Small wooden buildings perfectly convey the characteristic features of the direction. Logs can be used to equip the outer part, because a slightly rough and uncouth look, coupled with the correct lines, instantly attracts attention. The same can be said about the premises designed in the "ecoloft" trend. High ceilings, ample interior space, the possibility of completing the second floor will satisfy even the most discerning owners.

Interior decoration of the interior

It is not a problem to decorate the house inside on your own, while it is not necessary to resort to the help of a designer. First of all, attention should be paid to effective space zoning so that each room is as functional as possible. It must be remembered that when choosing a loft style, you cannot equip only one room in accordance with this trend.

Bedroom

To this day, disputes about how to decorate the bedroom ceiling do not subside. Some designers offer sloped, uneven ceilings to enhance the attic look. Others like a high, flat top in cool grays or metallic tones. Both of these options look quite original, and each of them emphasizes the spirit of the direction. For walls, look for faux-scuffed textures or brick-like decorative tiles.

The bedroom floor also needs to meet style standards. Rough parquet board, gray laminate, parquet in the color of wet asphalt will look good. Having opted for a wooden flooring, keep in mind that it should look as if it was old for a long time, but later it was in the hands of an experienced craftsman.

The bed is the main component of the bedroom, and there is nothing wrong with getting a slightly pretentious model. It is advisable to buy a dark cover, without drawings and decorative elements. Side tables can be placed next to the bed, which, with their simplicity, will create a bright contrast with the sleeping place. Be sure to take care of the lighting - a few wall lights or a cozy floor lamp will be just in place. Modular paintings with abstract images and several small rugs with patterns will complement the interior.

Mirror and chrome surfaces will look good in the interior of the bedroom. It can be an original wardrobe with mirrored doors or a metal table. An interesting enough idea would be to separate the bedroom from the living room with a glass partition. Also, do not forget about the importance of natural light - put large windows that will not need curtains and curtains.

Kitchen

Country private houses are simply impossible to imagine without a stylish kitchen. Its design should be practical and at the same time avant-garde. The direction of the loft does not imply the layout of the kitchen as a separate room; the bar counter that separates the kitchen and the living room looks much more spectacular. There is not much room for culinary experiments, since in this style the kitchen serves only as an "island" where you can quickly prepare food. Nevertheless, it is worth approaching its design wisely.

It is best to use red brick for wall decoration in the kitchen area. This will subsequently create a unique contrast to the iridescent silver and chrome surfaces and technical items. Dishes should be modern and sparkling. The same goes for the stove and refrigerator.

The concept of style will not be violated if you prefer wood over brick. Wooden walls or surfaces should be combined with the latest technology and cutlery. Glass and chrome elements will be a beautiful addition to such a kitchen. The table can be selected from both wood and glass, and the chairs can be matched to it in style. Strict flower pots, ultra-modern sconces, small modular paintings, blinds will look good.

Children

Often, many associate a loft with brick and concrete elements, but it should be noted right away that warmer tones will look more advantageous in the children's room:

  • The basic component can be a standard wall painting in white, beige and pastel colors. This will help to visually expand the room and give it a light and airy look.
  • Be sure to take care of bright accents: bedspread, rug, blanket, toys, paintings and photographs.
  • Boys may like reds, browns, grays and blues, while girls are better off choosing raspberry, turquoise, pink, bright yellow colors.

The bed is another important element of the child's room. The most original version is a frame model or a model made of "metal pipes". Such products are equally well suited for both boys and girls. If there are two children in the room, a loft bunk bed that meets the standards of style would be an excellent choice. Bed linen will dilute the decor if you get warm yellow, ivory, or pinkish models.

Speaking about lighting, you should immediately pay attention to the fact that many children do not like bright, blinding light.

  • Soft classic lamps or chandeliers of minimalistic themes are suitable for the loft style.
  • Pendant chandeliers on chains with crystal pendants and built-in fans look beautiful.
  • The room can be supplemented with cozy floor lamps or wall sconces.

Do not forget about adequate lighting in the play and study areas. Unusual designs can be easily achieved by placing large, glowing letters or stars on the walls.

As for the decor of the room, here the fantasy of interior designers has gone far ahead. Almost everything from vintage posters to decorative bicycles, treasure chests and hanging swings in the play area is appropriate. A good option is to add retro elements to the overall style of the room, for example, posters or collectible cars. Creative children will be very happy with the large drawing easels.

Hallway

The loft style itself does not include the concept of a hallway, since a solid and voluminous space is a characteristic feature of the style. However, in a modern apartment you cannot do without a place where you can leave shoes or outerwear, so you need to equip a small corner for these purposes. It is best to decorate the hallway in light colors to make it seem larger. But accessories can be of various shades.

The most common are:

  • Red.
  • Silvery.
  • Blue.
  • Brown.
  • Dark gray.

Choose fluorescent lamps for lighting. Ceiling spotlights will also look good.

Brickwork is one of the foundations of the loft style and will be a stunning option for hallways of varying sizes. If it is not possible to make real masonry, you can replace it with tiles or wallpaper of a similar design. The abundance of mirrors will also help to visually increase the space, for example, it is appropriate to make one wall completely mirrored. The standard color of the ceiling is white or light gray, and it should look as if the renovation has just been completed. A plasterboard suspended ceiling is also suitable.

Due to the openness and space of the loft direction, buying a massive and roomy wardrobe is not a good idea. You will have to store things and household utensils in another place, but the abundance of open shelves and hangers will be very useful. An original solution will be a shelf under the ceiling, reminiscent of the well-known luggage space on trains. You can place your shoes on the floor or on open shelves. And for its storage, special bedside tables are used, whose design resembles large cardboard boxes.

Of the accessories, first of all, you should take care of the mirror. This element can be of any shape: with a wide decorative frame or completely without it. Illuminated mirrors are a good idea. Choose the rest of the accessories so that guests can plunge into the industrial era. Exit signs, red arrows, emergency lights, a bicycle hanger - all this will help to emphasize the uniqueness of the style.

The loft style, which causes rather controversial impressions, today attracts the happy owners of spacious apartments without partitions. As a rule, such interiors are equipped in rooms with an area of at least 100 square meters. In this case, bachelors most often choose a loft. Therefore, there is an opinion that this is the style of freedom-loving people.

There is something in this direction that is ancient, industrial and creative at the same time. Which, however, is not surprising, because the word loft (which literally means "attic" in English) was the name given to living quarters that were set up in former factories. This determined the main features, character and mood of the interior.

Loft style - industrial style loft

This is exactly what a classic loft looks like. This concept appeared in the 1940s, when industrial facilities began to move from the centers of American cities to the outskirts, and vacant premises began to be sold for housing. Of course, to ensure normal living conditions, it was necessary to redo a lot, but many features of the original purpose of the premises have been preserved, and they are trying to reproduce them today. Therefore, the loft style is characterized by:

  • preservation of old brickwork or its imitation, if the walls are concrete, they are also exposed, impregnated with special compounds;
  • openness of all communications - it is not customary to hide pipes, wires, metal parts of the frame, on the contrary, they should become part of the composition;
  • the space is one and only zoned - without partitions and divisions into rooms;
  • industrial features are manifested in deliberate rough finishing in places;
  • progressive technologies also emphasize the industrial character of the interior;
  • such apartments evoke obvious associations with a factory floor;
  • the windows are huge and open, the loft style does not recognize any curtains, only brutal iron bars or the same.

Modern trends make the loft quite technological, which fully corresponds to the industrial character of the design. For a long time, such an interior retained American features, since the style spread from America. It manifests itself in everything - from colors to the choice of finishing of the main surfaces.

Basic principles of the formation of a loft-style room

Open plan

A room of any area, almost everything remains the same - without major partitions and walls. Basically, effective zoning techniques are used for the harmonious organization of the space. Of course, there are areas that need to be fenced off - bathrooms, toilets. But for, in which only one person lives, you can choose extraordinary solutions with open bathing bowls, located completely outside the box. Instead of a separate room for the bathroom, you can use a shower stall, the walls of which are a fairly effective solution for arranging a hygienic zone instead of main walls.

In such a room, the main part of the cabinets is usually built into niches or disguised. This allows you to make the space functional and free at the same time. Those items that simply cannot be different remain standard - sofas, cabinets, shelves, etc.

Dividing a room into separate sections can use lightweight mobile partitions, which can be moved apart, removed, and transformed. These can be combined solutions:

  • Cabinets that, when assembled, look like a solid cube, and when disassembled, they look like a set of shelves, drawers, even a bed can be hidden in such a structure.
  • The TV can be hidden in an outwardly simple cabinet that opens up into an extensive headset with plenty of storage space.
  • Shelves can be used as partitions between functional areas. If you make them mobile, you get sliding partitions with organized shelves.

Window decoration

It is preferable to choose panoramic windows, but not the entire wall. These can be horizontally elongated openings, high structures under the ceiling, located above a person's height.

Curtains and window decorations are not used here. Blinds will look practical and simple if there is a need to cover the windows from the rays of the sun. Usually it is difficult to look into industrial workshops, so there is usually no need for curtains in the northern rooms.

The color of the blinds, if any, should be as neutral as possible, since the decor on the loft-style windows is inappropriate.

Preservation of industrial parts

This is perhaps the most interesting nuance in loft-style interior decoration. In such a room, there should be characteristic details that seem to have been forgotten to be taken out or adapted for housing. As a rule, they become accents that give the design a special character.

These details include:

  • Pipes are everywhere and everywhere: plumbing, air duct, extractor hood, heating.
  • Preservation of old brickwork.
  • The presence of a heating stove - potbelly stove, metal barrel, etc.
  • Glass walls in partitions.

Finishing

Decorating a loft-style room, as a rule, does not cause any particular difficulties.

  1. Floors traditionally left concrete. But this is not very comfortable, especially for the sleeping area. Therefore, it is acceptable to make them self-leveling, cover them with boards or ceramic tiles, artificial or natural stone. Parquet and laminate flooring are not used in the loft style. A self-leveling floor is optimal, since it can imitate both concrete and stone. It is advisable to use a "warm floor" system, as in spacious apartments this surface will not heat up well enough. Such solutions reduce the cost of primary heating, as the heat from the heated floor surface rises and makes the atmosphere more comfortable even without heating.
  2. Walls usually left intact. This is traditional brickwork or concrete. In the latter case, the surface can be whitewashed, painted or covered with clear varnish. They never use wallpaper or plastic. Partial cladding with plywood, metal or wood paneling can be applied. Instead of decorative wood materials, stylized details from boxes for various products with appropriate markings will be appropriate. So you can tiled walls in the hallway, part of the wall in any other area.
  3. Ceilings usually whitewashed or painted. Stretch canvases and stucco moldings are never used here. Simple beams will be the best decoration. However, pipelines under the ceiling, electrical communications, which are advisable to pack in special casings, will also be appropriate. Lighting devices require more detailed consideration.

Room color palette

The shade range of an industrial room can, in principle, be any, but usually the colors typical for the main materials prevail. That is, it is metal, wood, brick, concrete. Accordingly, the interior is in a sense gray and neutral, which means that there is always a place for bright and non-standard accents in it.

Obviously, the following remain traditional for the loft style:

  • gray and black;
  • White;
  • Brown.

These are the shades of wood, metal, natural stone. The color of the brick dilutes the monochrome range - terracotta, dark red, blackened orange or grayish. After all, whatever the production in a particular workshop, the masonry darkens over time. Designers strive to preserve such a touch of time in any interior.

In a spacious room, accents are also needed - quite bright and catchy. These can be red, blue, orange, yellow details. This includes the upholstery of sofas in the living room, a fire in a fireplace or stove, a carpet, graffiti on the walls, a huge chandelier.

High ceilings

High ceilings are a characteristic phenomenon for the loft style, even if such a room is being built from scratch or trying to implement such a design in an existing apartment. There can be no low ceilings here. Traditionally, their height is enough to place a sleeping place and rooms for rest, work and privacy on the second level of the room. If the main bathroom is placed on the first level, then a shower stall can be placed near the bed.

It should be noted that the second floor is also part of a single loft space. Usually it is made in the form of a platform, the contents of which are not visible from the lower level. Therefore, here you can organize a place for relaxation and privacy. Instead of walls, the second floor is surrounded by safety fences.

Loft-style apartment lighting

As with any interior, the loft pays a lot of attention to light. A feature of the arrangement of such a room is its unity, which makes the organization of lighting a rather difficult task, because it turns out that light from some zones will be visible in other parts of the apartment, which complicates the creation of a relaxing atmosphere. That is why the loft is read as the optimal solution for bachelors, because in a couple, while one is preparing something in the kitchen, the other may already be asleep, and the light in the work area will interfere with rest.

As a rule, the entire lighting system is made integral. That is, dim lamps of the same format are placed throughout the space to ensure the safety of movement around the apartment. Each separate zone is equipped with a central light source and, if desired, several additional ones.

Important parameters in the organization of the lighting system are the following nuances:

  • Stylistically, all lamps should look the same. Most often, simple glass shades or metal products are chosen. The simplest shapes and geometric lines are applicable. The colors of the lamps are chosen neutral.
  • There can be no classic floor lamps here. Experts call systems with long, adjustable legs harmonious models. Such lamps can either stand on the floor or be mounted into walls, furniture, or descend from the ceiling.
  • Since the height of the ceilings in industrial workshops is usually high, lamps are chosen on long hangers. Suspended beams can be used for their installation. Accordingly, technological models installed on the floor, furniture, etc. are common.
  • An organic and functional solution would be to use light poles or mount several lamps on a vertical tube. This is convenient if the second level is organized in the room, then on such a pylon you can place both the lamps of the first floor and the second.

Varieties of loft style

Today, the loft style can be different, but in general it is customary to divide it into three areas:

  • industrial design - typical industrial loft;
  • glamorous - the choice of modern people from high society;
  • bohemian - apartments for creative people.

Industrial design

This space is fully consistent with all of the above trends. This is a truly factory interior, in which a person suddenly settled. It is here that there are always pipelines through the entire room, valves and trusses, real workshop gates, heavy doors, chains, wires.

Here, metal shelving, a tabletop, a metal apron in the workbench are applicable. There is no place in such a design for unnecessary and useless decor, delicate details and unnecessarily bright cheerful colors. But it is precisely in the industrial design that you can include technical innovations to the maximum, for example, the “smart home” system.

Glamorous loft

The first thing that catches your eye in such an apartment is a riot of colors. Instead of the usual neutral palette and restrained accentuation of one or two shades in a glamorous room, you can see unexpected bright colors. But the walls are still unfinished, which creates a special atmosphere.

This is a rather contrasting interior, because quite luxurious items are used against the background of rough walls and simple solutions for the floor and ceiling. Here you can see expensive chandeliers, luxurious upholstered furniture, exclusive carpets, furniture with openwork decor and ornate shapes. For example, in the dining area, it might be baroque. The bedroom can be used with delicate and sophisticated rococo forms, decor in a shabby chic style, fencing this space from the main industrial volume.

Bohemian loft

This trend appeared due to the fact that artists, musicians, artists settled in the shop premises for sale, bringing creative notes to the industrial design. Since this category of people cannot be called a rich class, one can imagine what their housing looked like in the first half of the 20th century. This is old furniture, worn, but retaining the elegance of yesteryear.

The decor in such a room is usually collected from a variety of trends and styles. Of course, the artist's apartment will be dominated by paintings, but it is possible that items donated by representatives of other art trends will also be present. Therefore, such a loft can surprise you with the number of figurines, paintings, musical instruments, exclusive dishes, etc.

Loft style materials

Summarizing the main features and possibilities of finishing the premises, we can highlight the main materials that are used in its arrangement:

  • Concrete: the base metal for walls, flooring, and strong and durable structures. Such surfaces are not additionally processed, keeping the natural color of the concrete mixture.
  • Brick: used mainly for the construction of partitions, but not indoors, but between workshops. Therefore, such masonry remains in several places. But it is this masonry that is most often the hallmark of the style.
  • Wood: in the form of a bar, it is present in the decoration of the ceiling, the floor is covered with boards. Wood is used in the form of pallets, pallets for the construction of shelving, conditional decoration - giving zest to the industrial interior. Often, typical loft-style décor uses packaging box details with company logos.
  • Glass: a necessary material not only for glazing windows, but also for the construction of other structures. It is often present in furniture details, in the kitchen work area, in the form of shelves, in the construction of light partitions and ceilings. The presence of a second level in a spacious room is an opportunity to create a single space with the help of partially transparent ceilings between floors.
  • Metal: Also ubiquitous. These are decorative pipes, and communications, and covers for electrical wiring. Metal surfaces are widely used in the kitchen, in the decoration of hallways. Let's use metal and tubes to design furniture.

Furniture and plumbing

Furniture in a loft-style interior can be quite different. Simple, fairly common objects, industrial models created on a metal frame, and antiques are applicable here. You can use modern technological solutions, which is important in the kitchen. You can also highlight the characteristic features of furniture in certain areas of loft design:

  • The industrial interior will be rich in items that are close in character to minimalism. This is the correct geometry, maximum functionality, lack of decor. In such furniture, practical shades prevail, no less practical surfaces. Open solutions will be appropriate here: a wardrobe rack instead of a closed wardrobe, shelves instead of closed wardrobes.
  • A bohemian loft is created on the basis of exquisite and unusual interior items. Most often it is antique furniture, aged, shabby, but rather expensive. Usually, models are used from natural solid wood. From the same point of view, forged details are also appropriate - both in furniture and in decor, in lamps, etc.
  • A glamorous loft-style design will look newer - without scuffs and a touch of time. They choose furniture in the Baroque, Classicism, Rococo styles for this design. Luxurious items are set against a backdrop of unfinished walls, rough concrete, whitewash and brickwork.

The arrangement of the bathroom can also occur in two ways: with the help of modern technological solutions or with aged retro products. The modern version of the loft style is standard and minimalistic forms, the most functional and inconspicuous mixers, a functional shower cubicle.

In glamorous or bohemian spaces, you can choose from different shapes of bathing bowls, made not only from the usual faience. In a glamorous bathroom, stone containers are applicable, and in a bohemian version, even copper basins. Style can be maintained with appropriate valves, taps, a mirror, one cabinet for storing hygiene products, towels, etc.

Loft-style room areas

Despite the fact that the space in this style is the same, it is not recommended to mix the zones with each other, otherwise the room will turn out to be uncomfortable. For convenience and harmony, each functional area of the apartment should be visually separated from the others. Receptions are standard:

  • Arrangement of furniture.
  • Different shading solutions for each specific area.
  • Different coverings - stone or ceramic tiles on the kitchen floor and wood planks in the living room, for example.
  • Arrangement of luminaires along the contour.
  • Different floor levels (it will be difficult to beat a multilevel ceiling in a high room).
  • Lightweight mobile partitions and convertible pieces of furniture.

Room layout

The living room usually becomes the center of such a space. In fact, a sofa or a set with armchairs is placed in the center of the entire volume. There is a TV opposite. But lately, the TV is losing its central role in the living room, heading to the bedroom. Therefore, such a zone can be sofas located in a circle or square, between which there is a coffee table or an electric fireplace, an open fire area would also be appropriate here.

Kitchen

Having determined the most successful place for the living room, they select a site for the kitchen area. It will be convenient and ergonomic to place the headset with all related equipment in any niche or non-standard corner. The kitchen takes up a completely different place here than in an ordinary apartment. There is absolutely no need to draw attention to her. When the area of the entire space is very large, you can arrange a corner for relaxation and solitude next to the dining room. It can be a comfortable workplace with sofas, a niche with low benches and bookshelves, a large work desk with an anatomical chair.

Canteen

The dining room, along with the living room, occupies one of the leading roles in the loft-style interior. A large table becomes the center of such a zone. Usually rectangular furniture is chosen. The number of seats at such a table should reach 10, but not less than 6. You can pick up longer items, counting on a company of 12-16 people. Then, in the kitchen area, an island or a bar will be appropriate for meals with a small company - a family or alone.

Bedroom

The sleeping place is traditionally hidden behind partitions or on the second level. The second option is considered optimal. It is also necessary in the case of arranging an apartment for a couple. If the room is not high enough or very large, the bed can be built into a closet or placed behind cabinets, which are usually placed against the walls. You can decorate the entire wall with cabinets by completing a secret passage to the sleeping area. You can hide the bathroom in the same way. If desired, equip an additional bathroom or shower directly in the bedroom.

Other zones

The main bathroom can be separated from a single space by glass blocks, which are not transparent enough, but make the wall structures visually lighter.

As a rule, there is no hallway in such a space. Hangers, most often open, are located at the front door. Wardrobes or wardrobes for outerwear can also be built in here.

To make the space as free as possible, numerous storage rooms and mezzanines will be appropriate in such a room, but they should be organized so that the structures are invisible.

Interesting ideas for decorating an apartment or house in the loft style

The loft is a rather eclectic style that can be austere, restrained, simple or luxurious.

Depending on the desired mood, decor or simple functional items can be used here. Some interesting ideas include:

  • hammock on chains;
  • swing;
  • wall-mounted bronze candlesticks on a rough brick wall;
  • instead of chairs, wooden stumps or barrels are used;
  • street benches, lanterns, low fences - flower bed fences can be used in space zoning;
  • graffiti on the walls;
  • huge posters in pop art style;
  • huge Egyptian vases or amphorae in a glamorous or bohemian setting;
  • massive chandeliers on chains;
  • live plants in tubs, bushes climbing the walls, whole cascades of greenery or fruit-bearing bushes.

An interesting solution would be to combine a typical industrial loft style with utopian steampunk elements. Fans of the movie "Wild, Wild West" will surely imagine themselves surrounded by non-existent steam engines. Of course, it is not so easy to arrange all living space in this style, and it is unlikely to be comfortable, but it is quite possible to add a touch of science fiction to a loft-style interior.

Steampunk Traits Indoor Loft

The predominance of metal is typical for both styles, so it is not surprising that they will be in harmony. For steampunk, metals with a yellow tint are usually chosen - bronze, copper. They are used in the decoration of walls and furniture. Moreover, such surfaces must be supplemented with numerous rivets.

It is typical for steampunk to use features of the interiors of Victorian England. You can also add them to a glamorous or bohemian loft. These are antique dark wood furniture, telephones, furniture with leather upholstery.

Many gears are used in decor, furniture elements, and various designs. The use of such items makes the interior unreal and fantastic.

All this is organically combined with pipes and ventilation grates, brick and concrete walls, heavy massive doors under severe locks and bolts, as in bank vaults.

Such an interior will be warmer than a traditional loft, because the decoration uses yellow-red metals, dark wood, terracotta bricks.

Finally

Often, a loft is chosen due to the characteristics of the room and is rarely planned initially. Nevertheless, this is a great style for creative, extraordinary people. Industrial design with or without bohemian flair will always be interesting and somewhat exotic. They use it when they want to combine a workshop with a residential apartment. Free views and lifestyles can also be expressed with a similar design.

A loft-style interior in its classic form does not require significant costs, therefore it will be an ideal solution for a modest budget. There is no need for special wall decoration or even covering them with any material. In such a room, you do not need to sheathe the ceiling with anything. You only have to work on the floor to keep it warm and comfortable.

Windows will require considerable costs: they must be large and open. In an ordinary apartment, of course, they cannot be changed, but when building a house, you can plan exactly such openings as you would like. Although most often a loft is chosen in ready-made spacious rooms with a free layout, where there are already large window openings.

Instead of decoration and decor, graffiti on the walls or painting to your taste is always appropriate.

If you are uncomfortable in a large room, it can be divided by light and translucent partitions into separate zones. Instead of walls, they use furniture - cabinets with doors on two sides (or you can do it on four), open shelving, fireplaces, sofas with high backs. Everything that your imagination is capable of and, of course, your wallet, everything can be realized in such a room, simply by keeping up with the basic principles with the layout and use of glass and metal.

Photos of loft-style interiors

The interior of a country house, designed in the loft style, is a modern and fashionable solution. This architectural style does not accept clear standards and has arisen thanks to the creative people of America who buy industrial premises for their living. A home decorated in this style seems strange to many, because the spirit of creative disorder reigns here, which is more suitable for creative individuals. In order to find out whether such a style is suitable for home decoration, we suggest finding out its features, design subtleties and the choice of furniture.

Peculiarities

In translation "loft" is "attic". In principle, this style arose at a time when creative people from New York bought industrial housing for living, which was slightly ennobled. Such a structure had little idea of comfort, being limited to a spacious room, bathroom, toilet and kitchen. Now the loft is an opportunity to express yourself and your “I”, hinting to others about your creative nature. At the same time, this direction is considered an elite type of design, where the old and the new are combined: expensive designer furniture, modern appliances, glass and metal objects, rough finishing.

The main difference between a loft and the usual understanding of style is deliberate rudeness, which can be traced in all elements of the interior design of a country house. At the same time, this style closely intersects with the style of minimalism, because graffiti and abstract paintings here can be right on the floor, and the decor here should be not only attractive, but also functional. The main distinguishing feature is the open plan and the lack of clear zoning.

Distinctive features

Loft is a style that is easily recognizable among others for the following design and decorative features:

  • Deliberate roughness of the cladding, for which textured plaster, brick and stone are used.
  • Plenty of light, large windows.
  • Demonstration of raw wall surfaces.
  • Open pipes and beams simulating industrial communications.
  • No partitions, large free space.
  • High ceilings.
  • A small set of furniture and creative accessories.
  • The main focus is on functionality.

Loft is a trend in interior design that is best suited for freedom-loving individuals with an unusual mindset. This style is unique, allowing the owner of a country house to express himself and his creative imagination in every element. The rough finish is harmoniously combined with the elements of comfort, which creates an industrial setting that gives comfort.

Decoration Materials

Loft is a style that suits young and creative people. At the same time, he does the impossible, because the interior in a similar style can be seen only in two categories of the population: bohemians and those who do not have money for more expensive repairs. When decorating the interior of a loft-style country house, it is important to correctly combine rough objects and finishes. Light negligence, imitation of the presence of beams and industrial communications - all this will bring the industrial style to life.

Focusing on the fact that housing is not completed or dilapidated is only on hand. Windows should be large and open, textiles are not recognized here. However, if living in a room with open windows is not comfortable, then you can use blinds. As for the wall cladding, brickwork or its imitation is used for this. You can also leave an exposed concrete surface.

If completely naked walls are embarrassing, then you can make the room more comfortable with textured wallpaper imitating wood, brickwork or a dilapidated wall. Also, with the help of wall decoration, you can zone the space. The main condition is not to overdo it with brick elements, smoothing out the originality of the material with monochromatic coatings (3 calm walls and 1 accent one, made of brick or its visual imitation).

The flooring is wooden, made of planks. You can smooth out the roughness of the style by using a laminate with a glossy or matte surface. If there is a plinth, then it should have the same color scheme as the walls of a country house. For zoning the space, you can use ledges, different shades and prints of the wall cladding. You can also use furniture to separate rooms, unobtrusively placing it in the right places.

Interior furniture in the loft style

The amount of furniture in the interior of a loft-style country house should be minimal, while it is important that it does not obstruct the space. Also, this direction in interior design involves a combination of old and new furniture, cheap and ultra-modern, emphasizing the status of the homeowner. You can also combine furniture of different styles, such as retro and hi-tech, vintage and minimalism.

Loft is a style that does not try to keep up with the novelty of upholstered furniture, but cannot exist without modern technology. The interior decoration can combine different tones of the color palette. For example, all appliances can be black or brown, but furniture in the kitchen and in the guest area can be bought in white. You can complement the interior with steel objects and gray metal objects.

A loft is a stylish, extraordinary and modern style that has a number of negative nuances, namely:

  • An open-plan building is difficult to heat.
  • Cold-type materials and panoramic glazing are used for finishing, which increases heat losses.
  • The high cost of utilities.
  • This design is not suitable for pedantic and conservative personalities.

For the correct interior design of a loft-style country house, it is important not to overload the space with small details, because each item should have a special meaning and functional load. Experienced Designers Recommendations:

  • Furniture can be used for zoning space.
  • Pay special attention to lighting, it should be abundant. Both ceiling and wall lighting can be combined in one room.
  • The brick wall can be decorated with abstract paintings, road signs.
  • To create a cozy atmosphere, you can buy a carpet, but it must be of medium size rectangular shape.

Industrial interiors, otherwise known as industrial interiors, are characterized by simplicity, minimalism and present the house to us almost raw. This makes them economical and very spacious. Such rooms are characterized by unplastered walls, it can be just brick or concrete, visible plumbing elements, open spaces free from dividing walls. The interior of a private house in an industrial style can be very interesting, where we have a large area for the realization of our fantasies, and many solutions can be partially implemented already at the construction stage. What features a loft is characterized by and how to implement them in practice - this article is devoted to these issues.

The main features of the loft

The aforementioned crude design didn't come out of nowhere. The interior design of a loft house reminds us of the premises of the era of the industrial revolution. The easiest way to organize such an atmosphere is in a private country house with high ceilings and large-format windows, but it can also be arranged in an apartment or in a more modest house. Just a few interior design tricks can help you with this task. The main features of the style are as follows:

  1. Large open space... It is important to remember one thing: neither furniture nor walls play first violin here, but only space. The premises must be large and open, therefore, to implement such a solution in the apartment, some walls or doorways will have to be demolished. It is advisable to provide elements of an industrial style in a country house even at the construction stage.
  2. Having a raw harsh finish- these traits will provide brick, concrete, open pipes and other elements.
  3. Minimalism- the lack of a large number of accessories and ornaments, the severity of the forms.
  4. Industrial furniture and decor elements - all furniture and decorations should be strict, functional and practical.

Country house loft under construction and finishing

If you want to equip a country house or loft-style apartment, then it is better to think about it at the stage of construction or finishing. Here, first of all, you need to provide for the organization of open space, if possible, you need to get rid of most of the walls and expand the doorways. Thus, a large surface area will be divided only in terms of its intended use. This large space will have separate areas for the bedroom, living room, dining room or kitchen.

At this stage, you should also pay attention to the gender. It is a great idea to choose wood flooring. Raw concrete, although very typical of an industrial setting, can be very cold for living spaces. Alternatively, you can finish the floor with tiles that imitate concrete or even iron, and install a warm floor under the tiles. This solution will be practical, but it is worth considering that in the summer we will not turn on the warm floor, so the floors will be cold in the warm season.

What materials are typical?

A fashionable country house should have characteristic materials for decoration, for example:

  • glass;
  • wood;
  • metal;
  • unplastered brick;
  • unfinished concrete walls.

With this interior design, you don't have to worry about how to hide the pipes. Moreover, they must be highlighted.

Of course, you should always remember about safety. All exposed cables must be protected, for example with a corrugation.

Wood and metal are everywhere. An iron staircase with strict straight shapes will be a good decoration.

No forged elements with flowers and monograms, only restrained straight forms. These staircases can also be twisted and spiral in modern designs.

Industrial furniture and decorations

The industrial interior is dominated by designer furniture, as well as industrial decor components that add uniqueness to the home and create a special climate.

The combination of industrial and natural materials is an unusual solution, which nevertheless creates a kind of balance inside the house. Spacious sofas and armchairs, upholstered in natural fabrics, perfectly complement the look of the living room.

Tastefully selected gear and accessories can look like decoration or theater props. You can also take it one step further and use wooden pipes and rods in your interior design.

Furniture that has a long history or one that looks worn out will look good here. She emphasizes individuality. Remember also that its size should be as large as possible, since furniture that is small in size, located in a country house with large rooms, will give the impression of being miniature.

Windows and their design

In most loft interiors in fashion magazines, you will see huge, unadorned windows. This option can be afforded in a private country house, surrounded by a garden and hidden from the prying eyes of strangers.

However, we do not always have such an opportunity and often, even in a private house, the windows overlook the street or neighboring houses. If you don't want your neighbors to see your every move, then you should choose industrial blinds or roman blinds for window decoration. They will let in a lot of light.

Color palette

In this interior, the color of finishing materials dictates to some extent the color palette. Regardless, it can be tempting to introduce bright accents in dark and toned interiors, which are dominated by all shades of gray. In this home, they can be used without fear, as the typical tall windows of this style provide ample light. High ceilings, discreet decorations, cool colors and large spaces are hallmarks of industrial design.

A combination of black and white is also typical. This classic combination works well not only in an industrial living room, but also in the kitchen, where you can choose, for example, black tables and countertops and match them with white tiles. White painted brick, pipes painted with white paint will create both a background and a stylish decor.

The original ceiling can be an interesting solution. You can just paint it gray, like in the photo above. A unique atmosphere guaranteed!

Industrial interiors need colors that can visually enlarge the space, as well as give a feeling of coolness and neutrality - so shades of pure white and gray are best. In order to gently break them, you should use additions in shades of turquoise (patina and platinum) or dark red (brick and rust).

Eclecticism

Industrial interiors can contain elements from other styles, however, it is important that all the components are consistent with each other. Mixing different elements takes intuition. If you are unsure, it is best not to experiment in this direction.

Tall plants

Would you like to know how to enrich an industrial interior and make it a little warmer? Instead of putting little jewelry all over the place, it is better to opt for one distinct accent. Tall plants will perfectly fulfill this role. Natural elements enliven the room, filling it with coziness.

Professionals consider wall lamps with unusual metal covers to be an excellent choice for an American loft. They will definitely bring originality to the atmosphere created in the room.

A somewhat unusual solution is a combination of natural and industrial materials, but with the right selection, the result will surely please you.

To complement the external image of the living room, in the industrial interior direction, spacious armchairs and sofas are used, which are upholstered with natural fabrics.
