Icon of the addition of the mind of the Mother of God: what helps, prayer. Strong prayer to the icon adding mind

A believing person does everything, asking for the will of the Lord and hoping for his mercy. Prayers always come to the rescue, even in such everyday matters as teaching children.

Even at the earliest stage of development, mother and child have a special connection that helps him calm down even at an older age, as can be seen from the mother's healing word. Read about it to know what power a woman has when she becomes a mother.

But having matured, children do not always please their parents with high marks received at school. And it is not always the case that the child is not taught. Sometimes you just need to talk to him. Perhaps he has problems with the teacher, and he is embarrassed to tell you about it, or he cannot understand the material, having returned to learning after an illness. The reasons are sometimes quite easy to eliminate: you just need to find a common language. After all, not only teachers, but also parents are responsible for getting a good education.

A mother always strives to get the best for her child and protect him from misfortunes and troubles from birth. Children's icons will help in protection, which should be hung in the children's room. They will set the child in the right way for the perception of serious information. In addition to positive contact with the child, prayers that have miraculous power with sufficient faith can also influence learning on the part of parents. After all, who, if not a mother, gives her child protection and prudence. One of the most powerful prayers is the following:

Lord Jesus Christ our God, dwelling in the hearts of the Twelve Apostles without hypocrisy, by the grace of the All-Holy Spirit, who descended in the form of tongues of fire, and opened these mouths, and began to speak in other tongues: Lord Jesus Christ our God Himself, send down that Holy Spirit upon these children ( name); and plant in the ears of his heart the Holy Scriptures, even as Your Most Pure hand on the tablets was drawn to the legislator Moses, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to Sergius of Radonezh

The life of St. Sergius of Radonezh says that he knew the letter worse than his peers and brothers, for which his parents and teacher scolded him. Being then still a youth Bartholomew (it was this name he was given at baptism), he prayed and saw a wonderful old man. Bartholomew shared with him his desire to learn to read and write and bitterness that he could not master the reading of holy hymns. Then the elder prayed and gave him a piece of his prosphora, predicting that from that hour the lad would be taught to read and write. On the same day, the prediction came true. It is not surprising that a prayer is also dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh so that children learn better and gain wisdom.

Even the virtues of the ascetic, like a true warrior of Christ God, on the passions of the greats, you labored in temporary life, in singing, vigils and veneration, the image was your disciple: the same and the Holy Spirit dwelled in you, His action is lightly adorned: but as if having boldness to Holy Trinity, remember the flock that thou hast gathered wiser, and do not forget that thou hast promised, visit thy children, St. Sergius, our father.

In every period of life, a mother protects her child. For this, mother's prayers for babies and adult children have been created. A mother's love is limitless. We wish you all the best, read the prayer words and don't forget to press the buttons and

magnificence

We honor Thee, Most Holy Virgin, God-chosen Lady, and honor Your holy image, and bring healing to all who flow with faith.

Although we live in the 21st century - the century of technological progress, nanotechnology and other miracles, but we are used to, if something unforeseen happens, go to church, light a candle in front of the image and pray heartily. Tell the saints about your need-problem, cry to the Mother of God, and, as if with a renewed heart, calm down, wait for help, hoping that the Lord is merciful and will not leave us. This tradition has developed since time immemorial. And different prayers were created by pious people, for all occasions. And the icons are painted - for all human needs and sorrows.

History of the icon

Among the Christian Orthodox shrines there are images that are widely known, glorified far beyond the borders of Russian lands. And there are rare ones that are remembered in specific difficult situations. For example, the icon "Addition of the mind." Its other name sounds like "Uma giver." This is one of the little-known images of the Virgin, the celebration of which takes place in August - 15 (28). The story of its appearance is unusual, serving as proof of the infinity of God's mercy and love for people. The Adding Mind icon was painted in the 17th century by a Moscow artist. This happened after the split of the Orthodox Church into the Old Believers and the New. Representatives of both directions proved their case in books and in every possible way reviled opponents. The artist, as an inquisitive and deeply religious person, wanted to understand how right both sides were. As a result, he re-read so many books that he lost his mind from the stress.

miraculous image

How is the “Increasing Mind” icon related to this? Directly! In rare moments of enlightenment, the artist prayed with tears and groans to the Mother of God to restore his mind, to help him to know the truth. And one day Mary appeared to him and ordered him to draw her in the form in which the painter sees her.

With zeal and perseverance, he set to work. But, as the cloudiness came over him often, he forgot the vision. And again he diligently stood idle in prayers and bows. The Mother of God came to him again, guided him. And so it was until the icon "Addition of the Mind" was not finished. The artist was already praying before her. And the mind returned to him, even brighter and sharper than before. And the icon itself is now in the city of Rybinsk, in the Transfiguration Cathedral. There is a list from it in one of the Moscow churches.

Description of the icon

The icon of the Mother of God "Addition of the mind" is quite unusual and goes beyond the scope of traditional Russian iconography. Her image is deeply symbolic, but difficult to understand for the uninitiated. Mother and Child are covered with bell-shaped wrappings, decorated with crosses. means sorrow and holiness.

The figures are in front of the entrance to paradise, next to the clouds are angels with lamps. This is the light of truth, truth, reason. And the buildings below represent the holy city of Jerusalem, only not earthly, but heavenly.

holy help

How can the “Increasing Mind” icon help believers? Prayer is offered to her if it is necessary to reason with children so that they grow in obedience, so that they succeed in their studies. This is an image that can support students, as well as people of intellectual and creative professions. Various mental illnesses, dementia are also treated with it. And yet, if a person has recently been baptized, so that he quickly enters his new state, he should turn to this image more often.

Pray more often and may the Mother of God help you!

Christians have a large number of images of the Virgin. Today, a prayer is especially often said in front of the “Increasing Mind” icon. But in order for the request to be heard, you need to know what to pray for in front of this icon.

Description and strength of the icon

"Addition of the mind" is considered a rare icon painting. It shows the Mother of God standing with a baby in her arms. She is depicted at the entrance to the heavenly portal. The figures are wrapped in a blanket. The Virgin Mary and the child are surrounded by angels holding lighted candles. At the bottom of the image are small houses that represent the Heavenly Jerusalem.

The image of the Blessed Virgin Mary presented on the icon has a symbolic meaning, and expresses the sacrifice of the atonement of Christ. This sacrifice opens the way to Heavenly Jerusalem before all believers.

This divine face has an interesting history of writing, which begins in the 16th-17th centuries. The monk-icon painter who painted it wanted to understand the Orthodox belief. Therefore, he began to study church scripture. Moreover, he studied scripture both before the schism and after it.

The monk wanted to avoid sinful deeds and hoped in this way to figure out exactly how to offer a prayer so that the saints would hear the petition. Therefore, he diligently worked on the church scripture, which led to a clouding of his mind.

When enlightenment came to a monk, he, with the help of a prayer petition, asked the Most Pure Virgin to save him from misfortune. The Mother of God heard the request and somehow appeared before the monk during the pronunciation of a prayer service by him. She asked him to paint an image based on her appearance. The Mother of God said that before this painted image, he should say a prayer.

After the miraculous appearance, the monk immediately set to work. But during the work, the vision of the Mother of God either disappeared or reappeared. When she completely disappeared, the monk was again consumed by madness. He again began to pray to the Most Holy Theotokos. During this prayer service, the Queen of Heaven again appeared to the monk and he was able to complete the icon. After that, the monk gained his mind, and the image began to be considered miraculous. Since then, a prayer said in front of this image gives peace of mind and heals ailments.

A prayer request in front of the Adding Mind icon can help in the following situations:

  • a person has a bad memory and often suffers from his forgetfulness;
  • in the presence of weak mental abilities;
  • the presence of mental retardation;
  • if the child is restless and cannot sit in one place during the lesson;
  • during the period of passing exams to complete the school, enter the university, during the session and any knowledge test;
  • assistance in the performance of work in the educational and scientific sphere;
  • the need for mental enlightenment of students.

In addition to helping with studies, this icon is able to heal mentally ill people. Prayer helps to determine the right path in life, to find the right solution to a difficult task, to deal with problems. The petition will overcome all obstacles.

Prayer in front of this icon also has a healing effect. It helps in the treatment of febrile conditions, and also protects against attack by poisonous and wild animals.

To receive help from the Mother of God, you must sincerely believe by saying a prayer in front of the image. Only faith and patience will help you get help from the Virgin Mary to successfully solve the life problems described above.

Prayer text for reading

O Blessed Virgin! You are the Bride of God the Father and the Mother of His Divine Son Jesus Christ! You are the Queen of Angels and the salvation of people, the accuser of sinners and the punisher of apostates. Have mercy on us too, who have seriously sinned and not fulfilled the commandments of God, who have violated the vows of baptism and vows of monasticism, and many others that we promised to fulfill. When the Holy Spirit departed from King Saul, then fear and despondency attacked him, and the darkness of despair and a joyless state of soul tormented him. Now, for our sins, we have all lost the grace of the Holy Spirit.

The mind has become bustled with the vanity of thoughts, forgetfulness of God has darkened our souls, and now all kinds of sorrows, sorrows, illnesses, hatred, evil, enmity, vindictiveness, malevolence and other sins are oppressing the heart. And, not having joy and consolation, we call to You, Mother of our God Jesus Christ, and beg Your Son to forgive us all our sins and send us the Spirit of the Comforter, as He sent Him to the apostles, so that comforted and enlightened by him, we will sing to You a song of thanksgiving : Rejoice, Most Holy Theotokos, who has added to our minds for salvation. Amen.

The history of its writing is unusual. Once, it was in the 16th-17th centuries, one monk, an icon painter, trying to understand the faith, began to read books published before Patriarch Nikon, to the book right. It is known that the right led to the split of the church in Russia. Then the monk began to compare these books with books published by Nikon already with corrections. He thought a lot about what books he should pray for so as not to commit a sin. And he tried so hard to understand them that his mind was clouded.

Then, in moments of enlightenment, he began to pray to the Mother of God, so that She would help him regain his mind. Once, during a prayer, the Most Holy One appeared to him and said: “Write an icon in the image in which you see Me, and pray before it.” The icon painter saw a wonderful icon, but it appeared only for a short period of time. He started making a list with her. But she quickly disappeared, and the monk again prayed and fell into madness. This went on for a long time, until the icon was finished. When the icon painter completed the work, he was completely healed. The icon became miraculous, many mentally ill people flocked to it and, according to their faith, they received healing. Today it is kept in the Transfiguration Cathedral in Tutaevo, Yaroslavl region. Every year, by the first of September, she is taken to Yaroslavl for worship.

The iconography of the icon is very unusual. The Mother of God swaddled with the baby Savior one dolmatik. This was the name of the tunic of men and women in Dolmatia in the 2nd century. Then crowned persons began to wear it, and it also became a bishop's vestment (sakkos) and a deacon's vestment (surplice). The dolmatic was white until the 11th century, but then colored priestly vestments began to be practiced, which are now red, green, purple, and gold, but white is still more often used on holidays, especially master's.

On the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Savior royal crowns. The Lord holds the royal orb in his left hand, and blesses those who pray with his right hand. The crowns and unusual iconography of the icon point to its Western origin.

Russian researcher and ethnographer Andrey Titov at the beginning of the 20th century revealed the connection of this icon with the statue of the Madonna of Loreto, the one that is installed in the altar of the eastern part of the "Holy House". Only now, in the Moscow tradition, it has received a different name - not the "Key of Understanding", but "The Addition of the Mind".

The difference lies in the fact that the statue in Loreto is made of cedar wood, the crowns on the Madonna of Loreto and Jesus Christ are gilded, the dolmatic is richly decorated with diamonds and pearl threads.

The legend attributes the authorship of the statue to the apostle Luke, but studies have shown that the statue was created many centuries after the death of the apostle - in the XII-XIII century. It has darkened over time. At the beginning of the 20th century, an ancient statue burned down during a fire in the Holy House. The next year they made a copy of it, also from Lebanese cedar. The author of the copy decided to bring the statue closer to the old image and darkened it very much. Now it looks almost black. Pilgrims arriving to worship in Italy can receive a cardboard icon with the name “Our Lady of Loreto. Russian icon of the 18th century.

But let's get back to the "Increasing the Mind" icon. It is very unusual for Orthodox iconography and has complex symbolism. As already mentioned, the Mother of God and the Savior are depicted in a single bell-shaped vestment, which is decorated with numerous crosses and flowers, which symbolizes, on the one hand, grief, and on the other, glorification.

A single image of the Virgin and the Divine Infant is depicted at the entrance to paradise, in the opening - a lot of stars. But the portal above the image reflects the architectural detail of the "Holy House". Angels on both sides of the icon, standing on the clouds, hold lamps, as if meeting them at the gate. This symbolizes the eternal light of truth. Above and below the single image are red seraphim and cherubim.

Lighted lamps hang on the portal on the left and right sides, which suggest a parable from the Gospel about the wise virgins who went to meet the Bridegroom and took oil with them, and the holy fools, foolish virgins, who had no oil at the time of the Bridegroom's arrival. Oil is a symbol of the mind and the Holy Spirit. At the foot is depicted the Heavenly City - Mountainous Jerusalem.

Thus, the symbolism of the icon shows that the sacrifice of the Son of God for the atonement of sins opens the way to the Kingdom of Heaven for all believers. At the bottom of the old lists of the icon is sometimes the text:

“The image of the Most Holy Theotokos, by adding to the life of judging the living and the dead, protects from mortal murder, from corrupting winds, from chills, from shaking, from finding poisonous animals, from enemies and mosquitoes, and mosquitoes.”

The icon in such iconography was painted by Pskov and Novgorod masters after the great fire in Moscow in 1574 at the invitation of John IV the Terrible. Having a very unusual legend, it does not belong to any of the known types of Orthodox Mother of God icons: neither to Tenderness, nor to Hodegetria, nor to the Sign, nor to Agiosoritissa, nor to Panahranta. And you can’t classify it as an akathist either.

This is perhaps, if not the only, then a very rare and curious case when an Orthodox icon is based on a Catholic statue - the statue of the Madonna of Loreto. All this makes the icon attractive, unusual and the day of its celebration - August 28, practically coincides with the day of knowledge.

Perhaps that is also why it is placed on the lectern during the days of prayer before the start of the school year. Then numerous notes with the names of the children are served in the temples, who have a long and difficult path to the realm of knowledge.
