How to put a mesh on a plastic window. Summer

With the arrival of warmth, hordes of insects are revived and one cannot live without mosquito nets. Only they are able to protect the premises from the ubiquitous insects. And then some copies manage to leak somewhere. But since the nets are for some reason very short-lived, they have to be replaced and repaired. You won't call a company representative every time and pay pretty decent money for a job that takes at most a couple of tens of minutes. That is why they are trying to make / fix / install a mosquito net with their own hands.

Types of mosquito nets

There are three types of mosquito nets:

As you can see, there are many types. Nevertheless, frame structures are used in 90% of cases. At a low price, they create a completely normal level of comfort.

Types of fixing frame grids

Most often, it is the frame mosquito nets that are installed. There are two ways to attach them: Z-brackets and stems (plungers).

Different ways to install a mosquito stack

When fastened to brackets, they are mounted from the street side. In most cases, this is convenient and, if circumstances permit, choose this particular installation method. In this case, the dimensions of the mesh should be larger than the light clearance of the window sash: the frame is inserted from the outside.

When using plungers, the mesh is also attached behind the glass, but the clamps (rods) themselves are located on the side of the room. This device is convenient on the ground floors: it is impossible to remove the mesh from the outside. When installing the mosquito on the rods, its frame should be equal to the size of the skylight. It cannot be done with an accuracy of a millimeter, and to ensure that there is no gap, a brush is attached around the perimeter. It prevents insects from seeping.

How to measure the order window

Quite often, a frame with a mesh is ordered from a company, and they are installed on the windows on their own. When ordering, you will be asked to provide the dimensions of the skylight. The required measurements are taken with the sash open. You are measuring the distance from one gum to the next: width and height. Measure in several places, record with millimeter precision. The accuracy depends on how the grids will fit your window.

How to measure the window when ordering a mosquito net

Watch how to measure windows for ordering a mosquito stack in the video.

What you need to know

When ordering or buying a mesh for a window, you need to pay attention to its characteristics. Firstly, it is available with different mesh sizes: from 0.6 mm to 1.2 mm. The smaller the clearance, the less likely the insect will "seep", and the less fluff there will be. But at high density, air also does not pass well, which in the southern regions can be critical. Therefore, the best option is somewhere in the middle of 0.8-1, mm.

The mesh is also produced from different materials:

  • Cotton. Cotton thread has high UV resistance. Its fleecy structure increases its "stopping" ability: insects do not crawl through such a net. But since the fiber is natural, it reacts poorly to moisture, is often affected by mold and rot, and therefore is rarely used.
  • Polyester. Most common material. It is strong enough and durable, for all it has a low price, but does not possess any special properties.
  • Nylon. A special anti-allergenic mesh is made of nylon. It is produced using a special technology with complex weaving. Thanks to this, it even retains dust and pollen. Such nets are often referred to as "anti-dust" or "anti-allergy".
  • Fiberglass. It is considered optimal, as it has high transparency: when using such grids, the degree of illumination remains almost unchanged. Moreover, its strength is very high - even comparable to the strength of metal. Fiberglass is used to make a mosquito net "anti-cat", which can support the weight of the animal and does not break under the claws.

If no special properties are needed, choose the usual one - made of polyester. Sometimes they may ask what color the mesh is needed. The most invisible to the eye is gray, so you can order it.

How to install a frame mesh on a plastic window

You have received a ready-made mesh. It comes with 4 small Z-brackets (brackets). Please note that they have shelves of different sizes: two by 4 cm and two by 2.5 cm. Brackets with large shelves are installed at the top of the frame, with smaller ones at the bottom.

Z-shaped brackets have different shelf lengths

For attachment to the frame, for each stop bracket you will need 2 self-tapping screws with a screw, which are also called "seeds". You will need a marker with a thin lead or soft pencil. You will need a drill with a 2 mm drill bit and a screwdriver or screwdriver.

Outside the window frame, we draw a strip 3 cm below the edge.We stand on a small step-ladder or on a chair, we take the frame with a net outside the window, we ourselves also protrude halfway. Attaching the bottom edge of the frame to the drawn line, mark its top.

You can do without manipulating the frame: you need to accurately measure its height, and set aside this value from the line drawn at the bottom. From the resulting point, lay up another 1.8 cm and then draw the second line. We will align the fastener shelves along it.

We take brackets with long walls. We apply so that the ledge is on the line. With respect to the light clearance from the edges, you need to retreat about 10 cm. Mark the points where you need to make holes. We carry out a similar operation with the "short" brackets from below. To check, measure the distance between the marks at the top and bottom. It should be 1.8 cm longer than your frame. If everything is correct, we drill holes in the profile (drill 2 mm), install the brackets on the "seeds". Actually everything, we can assume that the mosquito net is installed by hand.

Installing a mosquito stack in a window

Now take the net by the handles, turning it a little sideways, bring it out into the street. Insert the upper edge into the upper brackets, align vertically, lift up to the stop, wind the edge behind the lower brackets and lower it. The mesh stands supported by brackets.

It is removed in the reverse order. Grab the handles, lift up to the stop, remove the lower edge from the brackets, feeding the mesh slightly away from you (a couple of centimeters, no more). Then, leading it down a little, pull it out of the upper brackets.

Installation on corners

There is one more type of fasteners, similar in principle of "work" with brackets - corners. When installing this type of clamps for a mosquito net, it is also necessary to accurately measure the width. To do this, you will have to find the center of the skylight, from which to set aside half the width of the mesh. The inner part of the corner should correspond to the width of the frame with a mesh with a small gap - 2-3 mm for freedom of fixation.

Mesh corners

That is, in the presence of this type of fastening, they fix the corners and should stand in width exactly at the corners. In height, during installation, we leave the same gap of 1.5-1.8 cm. It provides the ability to install the frame in the mountings, and is held due to the fact that the upper shelves are larger.

Do-it-yourself mosquito net: we assemble it ourselves

As you can imagine, you can assemble the frame and stretch the mesh yourself. All components can be bought at firms that sell spare parts for plastic windows. The following components will be needed:

This is what the frame for a mosquito net looks like in a semi-assembled state.

  • profile for mesh frame MFP2;
  • impost profile (transverse partition with a mesh height of more than 1 m) MFPI and two fasteners for it;
  • mesh fabric;
  • corners for assembly;
  • sealing cord (rubber or even woven);
  • handles - 2 pcs;
  • countersunk head screws with a drill, dimensions 3.9 * 16 mm;

Assembling the frame

The frame consists of two long profile sections and two short ones. They are connected to each other using corners. They can be plastic (cheap, but short-lived material) and metal, painted with white or brown paint (to match the profile).

They also often put an impost - a jumper, which is installed approximately in the middle of the long side. It increases the rigidity of the structure and prevents long profiles from playing.

The lengths of the profiles must be cut taking into account the fact that they are going to the corners. Therefore, 20 mm is subtracted from the width and length of the light opening (how to measure it is described above) - it is this length that is replaced by the corners.

Saw off from the profiles in two pieces of the required length. It is better to cut with a hand saw for metal - you get a smoother cut with almost no burrs. It is brought to smoothness with a file or sandpaper. Then on a flat surface - it is more convenient on the table, laying the profile with the grooves up, fold the rectangle, insert the corner holders - the grooves are also up. In the photo, the grooves are directed downward, but this is inconvenient - you then have to turn the frame over.

We collect the frame from the sections of the profile and corners

With the normal coincidence of the corners and profiles, they should be inserted tightly. It’s very tight. Put your hands in place, it will not work. You will have to knock, and in order not to damage the plastic, use a lining - a wooden block or a piece of chipboard, as in the photo.

How to assemble a frame for a mosquito net on windows

When assembling, check the corners as well. They must be strictly 90 °, or the frame will be oblique, and there will be cracks in which mosquito flies can crawl through. After the rectangle is assembled, we install the impost. We saw it off 2-3 mm shorter than the resulting width of the frame, insert the holders on both sides, fix it on the frame in the groove.

Impost and holder

Stretching the mesh

Spread the mesh onto the assembled frame. It should be 3-5 cm larger than the frame on each side: it will be more convenient to pull it this way. We take the cord, press it through the mesh into the groove. You can start from one of the corners, or you can start from the middle of the short side, alternately moving to the right and then to the left.

The cord comes in quite hard, in workshops it is rolled up with a roller; in its absence, any object with a rounded surface can be used. A knife handle is suitable - office or kitchen knife, screwdriver holder, scissor handle, etc. Straightening the mesh, insert the cord.

Kinds of handles: plastic and with a metal base

Installing handles

Having reached the place of installation of the impost, we put the handles. Usually they are thin, plastic, inserted into a groove under the mesh, then pressed with a cord. There is a second type of handles - they are denser, sometimes - with a metal base, screwed onto the self-tapping screws to the profile, but after the mesh is stretched. If you have a choice - take metal or at least plastic, but thick ones. Plastic ones are very flimsy, they often break.

If in the process the mesh is crooked, the cord can be pulled out by prying it with a screwdriver or something similar, corrected, and rolled up again. Having finished stretching, check at several points the width and height of the frame. If there are deviations somewhere, then in this place the net is stretched too much It is loosened by pressing a little with the palm of your hand near the frame. If this does not work to equalize the width, the cord is pryed off and pulled out at some interval. Having aligned the width, holding the mesh, refill again.

You can pry off the sealing cord with a screwdriver

If all the dimensions match, you can cut the cord, tuck in the tail, then walk along the profile again, checking the evenness of the “entry of the seal. Now the protruding edges can be cut off. This is usually done with a clerical knife. That's it, the mosquito net is assembled by hand, you can start installing it on the window.

An example of an assembly can be seen in the next video. This is a promotional video: the company sells ready-made kits for self-assembly. The process is not detailed enough, but you can consider in general terms.

Homemade mosquito nets: saving the full

If we calculate the cost of all spare parts, take into account the loss of time for their purchase and assembly, then the profit is dubious. Components are still sold to you at a higher price than to firms. It can only be useful in the sense that after self-assembly, you can easily repair it yourself.

However, there are some very inexpensive options for homemade mosquito nets. They are made according to the frameless principle, they are mounted directly on the window. There are two ways to do this:

  • Velcro - knitted tape, which consists of two parts - a tape with hooks and a counter with a rough surface. The mesh is cut out a little more than the light opening, the mating part is sewn to the mesh, and the part with hooks on the sticky layer is attached to the frame along the perimeter of the window.
  • On the sealing cord. It is inserted into the place of the standard seal. To do this, remove it (pry it off and pull it out), pull the mesh over the opening, press the cord into the groove. The principle is the same as for setting the mesh into a frame.

See the video for the second way to make a budget mosquito net yourself. The idea is great, the costs are minimal.

Replacing the handles on the mosquito net

The problem of mosquitoes and flies in summer is quite urgent. And the most optimal variant of its solution is to mount a mosquito net on the door or a plastic window. How to make all the fasteners with your own hands and install a mosquito structure on a window, balcony or door, we will tell you in this material.

DIY mosquito nets mounts

So, if you already have a mosquito net for windows with Z-shaped fasteners on it, then to install it you need to follow these steps:

  • take a mosquito net and place it so that the Z-shaped fastener is facing you. At the same time, keep in mind that the fasteners may differ from each other in the length of their hook. Then install the mesh so that the fasteners are turned with the side of the smaller hook down, and the large one up, respectively;
  • grab firmly the side vertical handles on the window, which can be either metal or plastic;
  • place the sash in a specially prepared place for installation on the window opening;
  • put a large hook on the upper part of the window frame, while lifting the mesh as high as possible;
  • at the highest position of the net structure, bring smaller hooks to the edges of the window frame at the bottom and release it.

We have given the simplest option for installing a mosquito net, provided that all the necessary fasteners are present on it. It should be noted that this installation method is not suitable for all types of plastic window structures.

How to attach a mesh structure to a window

We turn to the next common method of attaching a mosquito net to a window or balcony, carried out using special plastic corners. This method is not universal and the best, however, if we are talking about plastic windows, then you should carefully study and try it.

Unlike the method where metal fasteners are used, the fasteners are installed here directly on the window frame, and not on the mesh frame.

The algorithm of work when installing a mosquito structure will be as follows:

How to install a mosquito net on a door

Mosquito nets for doors, in contrast to window nets, are divided into two types:

  • free hanging;
  • located in a special frame case.

Unlike plastic windows, installing a mosquito net on a door with your own hands will be more difficult. The fact is that the delivery of these structures is carried out in a complete set for specialized specialists, and it can be extremely difficult for an ordinary person to figure it out.

If we take mosquito nets with a frame as an example, then they should be fastened with hinges like ordinary doors. But the hanging models are fixed around the entire perimeter of the door, connecting them in the center with a magnetic fastener.

Of course, it is advisable not to carry out this installation with your own hands, but to turn to a professional, it will be much calmer, in addition, if there is a product defect, you can freely change it.

The door structure is attached with hinges, sometimes handles and a magnetic latch are included. In some cases, one or two imposts can be placed on the mosquito door, depending on the height. The installation time of a door mosquito net, depending on the complexity of the design, ranges from fifteen minutes to half an hour.

Features of different mounts for mosquito nets

If you have a need to install and fix a mosquito structure on an aluminum window, then the installation will differ little from the methods described above, but keep in mind the following points:

As a rule, the process of installing a mosquito net on a plastic window takes a little time - up to half an hour.

The standard factory frame mesh can be installed in a couple of minutes by fastening to the window with special latches, but the structure with Z-shaped fasteners is installed in about ten minutes, the process itself will already be more complicated.

However, in terms of reliability, metal fasteners are considered the best choice. They do not deteriorate over time, do not crack, and do not undergo other changes, even during the coldest winters or during the strongest summer heat.

If the mosquito net is equipped with metal internal fasteners, then it will not fall out of the window, even in strong gusts of winds or hurricanes, as is often the case with nets equipped with plastic fasteners.

There are also roller-type mosquito products, it will be extremely difficult to install them on your own, but if there is a need for this, then it is better to install two people so as not to lose one or another structural element and so that it does not accidentally fall out of the window. Also among the features of this design can be called twisting of the mesh during its opening or during removal from the latches. In the absence of such a function, the spring will constantly twist it frequently, and this can significantly reduce the life of the structure.

So, we learned about what it is like installing a mosquito net on a plastic window or on a door. Of course, if we are not talking about the simplest design that can be installed without difficulty in a minute or within half an hour, then it is better to entrust this work to professionals in their field. So you will sleep well, and you will not worry that tomorrow the structure will fail.

Mounts for mosquito nets

Install mosquito nets in calm weather.

To install (mount the fasteners) of the mosquito net you will need: a tape measure, a pencil, a screwdriver or screwdriver, a set of fasteners and self-tapping screws.

For your safety, it is advisable to involve an assistant so that he holds the mosquito net when you measure and fasten the fasteners and use the open adjacent sash, if any.

Mosquito net fasteners are screwed with self-tapping screws on the street side of the window 2 pcs. top and 2 pcs. from below.

Recommendations: annually, before installing mosquito nets, visually inspect the mounts (corners) for yellowing. You should also try to shake each of the brackets by hand. If you hear a characteristic crackling sound or feel significant deformation, the mounts should be replaced. Otherwise, the mosquito net may simply fly away.

Important!!! if a metal grill is installed on the window, then the installation of the mosquito net is possible only with the disassembly of the mosquito net and subsequent collection already at the installation site (outside the window).

There are several ways to install mosquito net mounts (depending on the free width of the protruding profile of the street side of the frame).

The standard way.

Open the window sash where the mosquito net will be installed. On the outside of the window, install the mosquito net fasteners using self-tapping screws, as shown in the figure.

Important!!! The length of the self-tapping screws or screws should be less than 30 mm, since the longer ones can rest against the reinforcement passing through the PVC window.

The top and bottom mounts are different. Longer mounts are placed up.

To the bottom of the window profile from the outside we attach 2 lower fasteners for the mosquito net profile (they are smaller in size than the upper ones) and either mark with a pencil the points for drilling for fasteners and drill, or immediately tighten the screws with a drill, we take the size of the screw 3.9x16 or 3.9x19 mm.

To make it easier to work, the fasteners can be glued to the profile with double-sided tape, just do not forget about the self-tapping screws!

Holding the mosquito net by the frame, we apply it to the outside of the window, place it on the lower mounts and check the dimensions. At the top of the window profile, we install the upper brackets, it is most convenient to attach them first to double-sided tape, then tighten the screws with free hands.

The place of their installation in height can be determined either by marking the top of the net installed on the lower mounts with a pencil, or by calculating - the size from the supporting part of the lower bracket to the supporting part of the upper bracket should be 8 mm more than the height of the mosquito net.

Having installed all the fasteners, we take the mosquito net out of the frame and stick it out the window, first insert it into the upper fasteners until it stops. With the bindings correctly installed, the bottom of the net should go over the bottom bindings very close. Then we lower the mesh down onto the lower mounts and check how firmly it adheres to the mounts. In case of the slightest doubt, it is better to lower the upper mounts for a tighter fit of the mosquito net.

First, take the mosquito net out of the frame in the middle on both sides and push it out through the window light opening.

Not by the handles, as some would-be experts advise (the handles are rolled up with a rubber cord and with an awkward movement they will break out and simply remain in your hands), but out of the frame.
Insert the mosquito net (holding the frame on both sides) by the mounts from above until it stops (picture below: position<1>), then grab one handle with one hand, then the other handle with the other, press the bottom of the mosquito net to the frame and slide it into the lower mounts (position<2>).Be sure to check that the mosquito net is wound behind the lower mounts, and not on them. See the picture below. To remove the mosquito net, you must repeat all the steps in reverse order. To take
by the handles, lift up to the stop. Then grasp the frame with one hand and then with the other hand move the bottom of the net slightly away from the frame and lower it down (until the upper fasteners come out of engagement) and bring the mosquito net into the room.

If there is a flap nearby, it will be more convenient to grasp the bottom of the mesh frame through the adjacent flap and lift it up all the way, move the bottom of the mesh away from the frame and, holding the frame with both hands, bring the mosquito net into the room.

Non-standard installation of mosquito net No. 1.

Unlike the standard installation of the mosquito net, the non-standard one differs only in the installation of the upper mounts on the sides of the net (used when the top of the free frame profile is less than 5 cm):

The process of installing and removing the mosquito net is the same as for the standard installation method.

Non-standard installation of mosquito net No. 2.

It is used when the top of the free profile is 3-4 cm. First, the upper fasteners are screwed (as in the standard installation) as high as possible. Then a mosquito net is attached to them all the way and from below we mark the bottom of the net with a pencil. We attach the fasteners to 5 mm. below the mark.

The mosquito net will be inserted from the side. We take it out of the frame, we start it first into the upper mount, then into the lower one. It is advisable to push in the mosquito net without distortions (try to keep it strictly vertical).

Non-standard installation of mosquito net No. 3.

NSIt is used when the top is less than 3 cm and there are two opening sashes next to it.

First, the upper attachment is screwed on from the side on the vertical part of the frame profile (farthest from the adjacent sash). You can retreat 10-15 cm from the upper corner (it will be better to press the middle of the mosquito net).

For plastic windows, special nets are provided that protect the home from the penetration of various insects. If the windows were installed during the cold season, then this moment could be missed. Also, sometimes the already installed mesh for various reasons may become unusable. In such situations, homeowners face the question of how to install a mosquito net on a plastic window.

The problem that we have to face is that there are no finished standard products on sale. Each individual structure is made in specific dimensions to order. To resolve the issue, you can contact the company that manufactured the windows. The archive can store data about dimensions. You can also call a measurer, but this is already for a fee.

The main task of the design is to protect the premises from insects

Types of mosquito structures

Before starting to study the information on how to correctly measure the mosquito net on a plastic window, it is worth deciding on the type of construction:

  • The roller shutter is a net that rolls up into a roll. It can be installed using a fixed mount.
  • Frame or wireframe mesh is the most demanded among consumers due to its low cost.
  • The door type is a mesh stretched over a thin aluminum frame. This design is fixed with awnings.
  • The roller shutter structure has been in use quite recently, and not every company will accept such an order. The roller shutter system uses a mesh with a protective edge trim for a longer service life.
  • Mesh fixed with tape, magnets or Velcro.

This type of fastening is convenient only at first glance. In fact, at the end of the season, the mosquito net can only be detached together with the fasteners, and in the spring the entire Velcro will need to be reinstalled.

  • High strength mosquito net to protect pets. The material can withstand a very heavy load, and will not allow the pet to fall out of the window.
  • The sliding structure is installed on terraces or balconies. Parts of the structure can be opened or closed if necessary. For convenient use, guides are installed, with the help of which the structural elements are moved or adjusted.
  • High protection design that keeps dust out. Such a cloth has very small cells and needs to be cleaned regularly.

Methods for attaching mosquito structures to a plastic window

The structure of the protective net consists of a 1 mm fiberglass net and an aluminum frame. Fastening a mosquito net to plastic windows is different, and its choice is from the manufacturer.

The best quality and most durable can be considered a plunger mount. To fix the frame, spring-loaded pins with a carved cap are used, which perfectly hold the structure.

The second place in demand is occupied by the Z-shaped fastening of the mosquito net. The protective mesh is attached to the window with metal brackets. Despite the seeming reliability of the fastening, over time, the structure may loosen, and gaps will begin to form.

Much less often, a method called "Pocket" is used to fasten the structure. When using this method, gaps remain between the mesh and the frame, so it is not so in demand. Measurements for such structures must be done with a margin.

Measurements for structures using Z-fixings

Using a regular tape measure, measure the height and width of the opening along the edge of the elastic. The data obtained should be recorded with millimeter precision. The finished product will exceed the dimensions of the frame by 2 cm horizontally and vertically.

Before deciding how to measure a window for a Z-mount mosquito net, it is worth checking how deep the window frame is installed. If the slopes are very close to the frame, or the box is tightly wound under a quarter, then the installation of the finished structure may be difficult. Such moments should be taken into account during measurements and planning, and, if necessary, order a structure with a different type of fastening.

Measurements for structures with plunger mountings

The use of pins is available for frames that do not have round shapes. It is also worth considering that the pin is attached to the frame itself, and in the presence of a strong bevel, it is almost impossible to achieve a high level of density. All this must be taken into account before proceeding with the solution of the problem of how to measure a mosquito net on a plastic window.

In order to determine the dimensions, it is worth knowing the height and width of the frame, and then 6 mm should be subtracted from the data obtained. A sealing brush of this size is fitted at the edge of the mesh frame.

To solve the question of how to measure the window for a mosquito net with a pocket mount, you should know that for such designs, measurements are made in the same way as for Z-mounts. Since such a fastening does not provide a snug fit and reliable protection, most consumers prefer to use other types of structures.

Regardless of the type of fastening, dimensions must be determined with millimeter accuracy

Stages of installing a mosquito net

The sequence of work is as follows:

  • Marking for fasteners. If the window has standard dimensions, then two fasteners at the bottom and two at the top are sufficient. For very large windows, 8 fasteners are used.
  • Holes scroll in the frame. A drill is used for this.
  • The fasteners are attached to the frame and screwed in with screws.
  • After that, it is necessary to determine the attachment point of the holders. To do this, you need to measure the height, and make the markings exactly in the middle.
  • The holders are screwed into the plastic structure using screws. If plastic holders are used, they must be handled very carefully as they are very fragile.

Features of installation and operation of a rolled mosquito net

On our website you can get acquainted with the most popular projects - from construction companies presented at the exhibition of houses "Low-rise Country".

Such a structure is installed outside, and is fixed above the frame or to the side of it. The netting web during unwinding moves along the side guides. They protect the web from kinking or moving too fast, which often leads to damage. In order to avoid excessive unwinding, the structure is equipped with a special spring. When the canvas is completely unfolded, it is fixed with a special latch. In order to remove the canvas in the box, just press the button.

The design is equipped with brush seals that clean the mesh. But if the net is heavily soiled, or needs to be cleaned due to the end of the summer season, it is simply removed and washed, or wiped with a wet cloth. You can also use a regular vacuum cleaner for cleaning.

The roller shutter design is very convenient to operate

Features of installation and operation of the mesh on the plungers

The mosquito net on rods or plungers adheres very tightly to the glass unit, which provides a high level of protection against insects entering the room. The rods are metal rods on a spring mechanism, which are fixed with pins on the outside of the frame.

When installing or removing the structure, tighten the threads in the spring pins. If it becomes necessary to remove the structure, the pin must be rotated clockwise.

Installation of such a design is impossible if there are bars on the windows.

The advantages of this mounting system include quick and easy installation, a high level of tightness and excellent dust protection, resistance to low temperatures and UV radiation. It is also worth considering that it is almost impossible to remove this structure from the outside. Due to this, such structures are installed on the ground floors.

If the brush starts to detach at the edges of the mesh, then it is enough to pass along the edge with waterproof glue. To clean the canvas, it is enough to wash it with a regular sponge and soap solution.

In the video, one of the ways to repair an old mosquito net:

Installation of the structure on the window

Before starting to deal with the problem of how to install a mosquito net on a window, it is worth deciding on the type of fasteners:

  • The lower fasteners are installed not 15 mm below the window opening, and the upper ones must be fixed above the frame, taking into account the height of the mesh and add 10 mm. The frame of the mesh should not go beyond the boundaries of the window opening. In order to facilitate installation, you should first glue the fasteners to the frame with double-sided tape. This will give you the opportunity to try on the mesh and see the final result. And only then you need to make holes for fasteners using self-tapping screws or hardware with a drill.

On our website you can find contacts of construction companies that. You can communicate directly with representatives by visiting the Low-Rise Country exhibition of houses.

  • It is recommended to lubricate the place where the window profile and fastening are connected with silicone sealant.
  • In order to avoid mistakes when marking the upper fasteners, the lower fasteners are glued, the mesh is inserted, and the upper border is marked with an ordinary pencil. If all measurements are correct, then the border should be in the middle of the support part of the upper bracket.
  • For installation, the mesh is inserted into the upper mounts until it stops, and then lowered onto the lower ones. If the structure staggers, or does not look very reliable, then the situation is solved by adjusting the height of the mounts from above.

Before starting work, it is worth making accurate measurements.

Repair or replacement of a mosquito net

Despite the fact that plastic is highly durable, the structure can fail due to the influence of time, temperature changes and sunlight. Also, the canvas can be damaged by pets. In such cases, each owner should know how to change the mosquito net on the plastic window on his own.

Replacing corners

Broken plastic corners very often become the cause of the malfunction. These items are sold in specialized stores. If necessary, you can purchase one or a whole set of corners. Also on sale there are regular and solid or reinforced corners. At a fairly low cost, fortified options are more reliable and last much longer.

If only one corner breaks, it is not necessary to disassemble the structure completely, it is enough to limit yourself to the upper bar

First of all, pry off the sealing cord, carefully pull it and pull it out of the groove. Then you should pull the bar up.

Use pliers or a screwdriver to remove the broken elements.

New corners must be attached to the bar, and all structural parts must be connected together.

The canvas is straightened along the edges, stretched a little, and the seal is placed in the groove. In order to press it tightly, you should use a screwdriver or scissors.

In order to avoid damage during repairs, while using the hammer, it is worth using a bar of wood, and hitting through it, or using a special rubber hammer.

Video description

The replacement of the corners is clearly shown in the video:

Replacing the blade

If the integrity of the canvas is violated, you can make a small patch or glue the torn area. This will make the structure look unattractive and can be used as a temporary measure. In such situations, it is worth completely replacing the damaged canvas with a new one. To know how to measure the mosquito net and determine its size, add 30-40 mm along the length and width of the frame. After installing the canvas, the excess is cut off.

It makes no sense to repair the damaged mesh, it should be replaced completely

To do this, remove the structure from the window, and remove the cord around the entire perimeter, while supporting the frame. This method makes it easy to release the mesh.

In order for the new mesh to be easily pulled, a slightly larger canvas should be purchased.

After stretching the mesh, a sealing cord is inserted into the groove around the entire perimeter. In order for the structure to have a beautiful and presentable look, you should stretch the canvas well and evenly distribute the load on the corners and profile. excess mesh is removed using a regular sharp construction knife.

Resizing a structure

In order to make the mosquito net a little smaller, you should remove the sealing cord, disassemble the frame into elements, and reduce the dimensions by the required number of millimeters. After that, the structure is assembled in the reverse order and placed on the window.

If the structure is too large, it can be reduced.

What to do if the installation handles are broken

Small handles for installation are made of plastic, which loses its qualities from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and temperature extremes. The handles lose flexibility and begin to break. To solve the problem, it is worth purchasing new pens and installing them instead of the old ones.

For replacement, it is worth removing the sealing cord in the place where the handle is located, carefully loosen and remove the old part and replace it with a new one.

After that, pull the mesh and place the sealing cord in the groove.

There are design options where the handles are screwed with screws. Then they can be unscrewed, and the damaged handle can be replaced with a whole one.

The handle for installing the structure is attached only with a rubber sealing cord, and it is very easy to change it to a new one

Replacing Z-Brackets

First of all, it is worth unscrewing the old fasteners with a screwdriver.

After that, similar items are purchased in the store. It is best to replace a complete set, even if only one mount is broken.

New fasteners are screwed to the frame and the mesh is installed on the window.

How to assemble a structure from component parts

You can purchase and install a ready-made structure, but self-assembly will be much cheaper. Before deciding how to assemble a mosquito net, you should purchase accessories. For the construction, you will need a frame profile, corners for connection, a central cross member and two connectors, a rubber sealing cord, 2 handles and a mesh cloth.

The most convenient material for the frame and crossbar is aluminum. You can use plastic counterparts, but they are less durable and have a shorter service life. Very often aluminum profiles are painted white or brown. This makes the structure more durable and beautiful.

For coloring the profiles use brown or white paint

It is better to choose reinforced corners for connection. Then the structure will last longer.

The handles are lightweight and your choice should be guided by personal preference. When choosing a mesh, you should take into account its purpose. There is a canvas that prevents dust from entering the room. Also on sale are heavy-duty mesh webs that can withstand attacks from pets and birds. If the mesh size is less than 1 mm, the mesh will darken the room.

The choice of fastening depends on the design of the window.

Stages of construction

The work takes place in the following sequence:

  1. Using a saw or a hacksaw for metal, a metal profile is cut. Its dimensions should be less than the dimensions of the window by 10 mm horizontally and vertically. The center crosspiece is cut exactly to the width of the window.
  2. The profile must be inserted into the corners. You can use a hammer to do this. At the end of this stage, you should have a rectangular frame.
  3. Cut off the mesh fabric 30-40 mm larger than the required size.
  4. The net must be put on the frame and, using a special roller, tucked into the profile together with the sealing cord. The net should be pulled evenly, and make sure that no waves or creases are formed. Also, with the help of a cord, the handles are installed at this stage.
  5. All excess and protruding parts of the blade are carefully cut off with a sharp knife.

The mosquito net is ready to be installed.

The canvas must be well tensioned, and make sure that there are no waves or folds

What is the peculiarity of the mesh cloth "Anticoshka"

Such a net is installed not only by cat lovers. Very often pets of neighbors can get into the house and harm the room. To protect the window opening on both sides, a reinforced mesh cloth should be used. For the manufacture of such structures, a polyester sheet is used, which is glued around the entire perimeter, and fixed with metal brackets. Even if the pet tries to damage the mesh with its claws or beak, and also climbs over it, the material will not sag or deform.

If a pet lives in the house, then for the sake of safety, window openings should be carefully strengthened.

What are the important points to consider when ordering mesh

The mosquito net is ordered only when the windows in the apartment open inward.

The main purpose of the mosquito net is not to let insects or poplar fluff inside the room. In order to ensure a snug fit, measurements should be taken to the nearest millimeter. A slight overlap on the outside is allowed.

In order to get a high-quality design, you should make accurate measurements.

Conclusion

Repair and installation of a mosquito net is not particularly difficult, and even a beginner who does not have much experience can cope with such a task. It is worth carefully studying the material, and the question of how to make a mosquito net will not be particularly difficult.

With the onset of the long-awaited warm days, mosquitoes and midges come to life. It is very difficult to hide from them. They penetrate the slightest crack, strive to get to the person as soon as possible. Only a mosquito can stop them. It will also become an obstacle for poplar fluff, dust, etc. Let's figure out how to install it on a plastic window ourselves.

Selection and installation of a mosquito net

The best way to protect your home from annoying guests is the mosquito. It completely covers the frame, preventing insects from entering.

Types of mosquito nets

  • Framework. This is a frame assembled from metal-plastic, on which a mesh fabric is stretched. The finished structure is attached from the outside of the window to plungers or Z-brackets. This is an economical and fairly convenient option.
  • Rolled. The protection is made as an analogue, only a plastic mesh is placed instead of the fabric. The roll is attached to the top of the frame. If necessary, the edge is lowered and fixed. Convenient in operation, the price is higher than analogs.
  • Swing. It looks like a frame, but the frame is reinforced. One side of it is hinged, after which the frame can swing open and close, snapping on the magnet. The design is more often chosen for doors on.
  • Sliding. A constituent element of sliding systems. This is a frame moving along the guides, on which the mesh panel is fixed. Its dimensions correspond to the sash. When one of them opens, the canvas moves and closes it.

Despite such a variety of mosquito elements, frame products are most often chosen.

Take measurements

  1. Open the sash completely.
  2. We measure the width of the opening from one seal to another.
  3. Similarly, we measure the height of the opening.

In order not to be mistaken with the sizes, we must measure them in several places. There might be slight discrepancies. We write down the obtained values with an accuracy of millimeters.

Choose a mounting method

An important point: the choice of fastening. Plungers are placed on the frames, they are also stocks or staples. The latter option is much more common. In this case, the mosquito is placed on the outside of the window. It is inserted into brackets shaped like the letter Z. A significant drawback is that the product can be easily removed from the street. Therefore, such fasteners are placed above the first or second floor. On the lower ones, meshes are installed on the plungers. They are also attached from the outside, but the rods that fix the product in place are located on the side of the room. Thus, it is impossible to remove the protection from the outside.

The difficulty lies in the fact that the frame must exactly follow the light opening. It is almost impossible to do this, there are always small gaps. They can be used by insects. Therefore, a special brush is attached to the perimeter of the frame.

Manufactured according to the specified dimensions, it is issued to the customer together with the fasteners that he will install on his own. Let's look at two possible options.

Workflow for the Z-shaped staple

The set includes four brackets. Two of them with a shelf side of 25 mm, two with a side of 40 mm. Those that are larger are placed on top. For work, you need a drill, a 2 mm drill, a screwdriver or just a screwdriver, two self-tapping screws with a screw for each bracket.

  1. We open the sash. Outside, on the lower part of the plastic frame, set aside 30 mm down, draw a line. We will install brackets along it.
  2. From it we set aside the height of the mosquito, add 18 mm, draw a line. If it is possible to work from the outside, the easiest way is to attach the part to the intended bottom line, mark the top edge. Add an allowance, draw a second line.
  3. We outline the areas where we will attach the brackets. We retreat 10 cm from the edge of the skylight to the left and right. We put marks.
  4. We attach the fasteners to the marked point so that the edge of the shelf is on the line. We mark where the holes should be. We do the same with each bracket.
  5. We drill holes. We put the brackets, fasten them with self-tapping screws.

It remains to put the anti-mosquito cloth. They take him by the handles, turn him a little to the side, take him out of the sash. Then they are brought into the upper brackets, leveled. Raised, inserted into the lower mounts, lowered a little.

Sequence of work for corners

The installation of a mosquito net on a plastic one is also done on the corners. Like the brackets, they are attached to the outside of the window frame. Fasteners of a larger size are installed on top, and smaller ones below. The elements are fixed with self-tapping screws. The layout and installation process is very similar to that described above. There is only one difference. Retainers "hold" the mosquito by the corners, so accurate marking is required.

The lower and upper boundaries are outlined in the same way. Then the middle of the opening is determined. From it to the right and left, lay half the width of the mesh part. The distance between the inner centers of the corners will be equal to the width of the mosquito plus 0.2 or 0.3 cm for free fixing. The installation of the frame in the corner mounts is carried out in the same way as in the brackets.

We figured out how to attach a mosquito net to a plastic one. This is not at all difficult, especially if you order a product according to your size from a company specializing in the production and installation of window systems. All that remains is to put up a protection that will block the path of annoying insects.
