Materials and tools that will be needed for work:

Polyethylene in rolls - density 150 microns. It is sold in garden-garden stores or in household departments. For 4 apronsyou will need 130-150 cm of polyethylene

Addition: polyethylene is sold in rolls 1.5-2 meters wide. At the same time, it is folded in half, that is, when unfolded, its width is 3-4 meters. For the manufacture of the apron, we use folded polyethylene. So the apron will be denser, more durable and will be able to keep its shape.

We choose the most uncomplicated style of the apron, and the silhouette is straight. It will be easier to build a one-piece apron pattern from polyethylene, which will be obtained by combining the bib and the lower part of the product.

We will build a pattern using the example of size 44-46.

The following measures will be required:

Sat- semi-circumference of the hips (50 cm)
day- the length of the breastplate. It is marked from the waist line up to the desired length (27 cm).
shn- the width of the breastplate. Marked horizontally at chest level (21 cm).
Di- The length of the product without a bib. The distance from the waist down to the desired length (46 cm) is noted.

The construction of the pattern will be carried out by half of the figure.

Experienced craftswomen build a pattern immediately on the material. It is better for beginners to build on paper, and then transfer the pattern to fabric, and in our case to polyethylene.

Draw a vertical line on paper and mark three points:

point G - up the product
point T - waist level. From point G we lower down a line equal to the length of the bib - 27 cm.
point H - bottom of the product. From point T we lower down a line equal to the length of the product without a bib - 46 cm.

To the right of the points Г, Т and Н we draw three horizontal lines:

the chest line is equal to the width of the bib (21 cm). On the drawing, we mark half of this measure - 10.5 cm and denote it with the point G1.
The waistline is equal to the half-circumference of the hips (50 cm). In the drawing, we mark half of this measure - 25 cm and denote it with a point T1.
the bottom line is equal to the half-circumference of the hips (50 cm). In the drawing, we mark half of this measure - 25 cm and denote it with a dot H1.

We connect the points G1 and T1 with a smooth concave line using a pattern. And points T1 and H1 are connected by a straight vertical line.

The pattern is ready.

Based on this pattern, we will sew aprons for the whole family. Let's start making aprons for children.

Children's apron

We designed a one-piece apron for a girl of 10-11 years old. In this example, let's take a closer look at the sewing sequence.

We build a base pattern, substituting the desired dimensions. We round the bottom edges of the apron.

Now let's start cutting the apron.

We fold double polyethylene in half, apply a pattern, fasten it with paper clips (you can use pins) and cut it out. There is no need to leave seam allowances. The edges will beworked with an inlay from packages.

How to make an inlay for edging an apron.

Garbage bags in rolls are suitable for making inlays. They are already folded in several layers and tightly fastened together. The inlay will turn out bright, dense and long.

We unfold the roll of bags and mark 4 strips 3.5 wide cm and length:

13 cm - for edging the top edge of the apron
95 cm - for edging the lower and side (straight) sections
105 cm - for edging concave sections that turn into ties (2 pcs.)

Fold the strips four times. First, fold the strip in half. We try to do it smoothly and accurately. And so that the cellophane does not slip and bends evenly, it is rolled slightly tight on the sharp edge of the table. So the future inlay will better take the desired shape.

Then we turn the first edge of the strip inward and roll it again. Similarly, repeat with the second edge of the strip. And now we bend both edges in half and roll again.

The result is a string 1 cm wide.

The inlay is ready, now let's start edging the apron.

First, we sew an inlay 13 cm long to the upper cut of the apron. Then we process the edges of the apron with an inlay (95 cm), starting from the waist line on the right, stitching the bottom and ending on the waist line on the left.

Now it remains to process the concave side sections of the apron and arrange the ties.

We take an inlay 105 cm long and, stepping back from above 40 cm (for future ties), we cut off with pins with a side cut of the apron.

We begin to sew a seam on a typewriter from the upper ties, smoothly moving to the concave edge of the apron. Without interrupting the line, we finish the seam on the ties designed for the waist. We repeat the same procedure with the second inlay.

Advice: when processing bias tape with ties, the sewing machine may chew the cellophane. To prevent this from happening, you need to put a sheet of paper under the inlay and flash it on a typewriter. Remove the rest of the paper with tweezers or a needle.

So, the base of the apron is ready. It remains to decorate the application.

Application

We will draw a template for the application or find it on the Internet.

We cut out a house from folders - folders. This is a square 8 × 8 cm and a roof with sides of 10 cm. We make a window from an old cover for a textbook.

We cut out the fence from a brown bag folded in two layers. The length of the fence is 13 cm, the height is 4.5 cm. We create an imitation of planks by sewing vertical and horizontal stripes. If the cellophane slips and a crooked line is obtained, then we put a sheet of paper. Do not forget to remove the rest of the paper.

The trunk, the crown for the tree, the clouds, the sun and the flowers are cut out of packages folded four times. So the application will be stronger and brighter. Before cutting out the details, fasten with a stapler in several places so that the pattern does not move. Then remove the staples.

We sew finished parts to the apron.

To make a clearing, we cut out a strip 62 cm long and 5 cm wide from a green bag folded in half. We lay a line for assembly on a typewriter and tighten the strip to 31 cm.

We set up a clearing, the sun, clouds and rays on the apron.

The apron for the girl is ready.

Not only girls, but also boys like to help their mothers in the kitchen. And each little cook should have his own uniform. Therefore, we will sew a cheerful apron for the boy.

We build a pattern and cut an apron from polyethylene.

The pattern is built in the same way as for the girl's apron.

We built a pattern for a 5-6 year old boy.

The edges at the bottom of the apron were left straight.

We will process the sections of the apron with an inlay from garbage bags in rolls.

You will need 4 strips 3.5 cm wide and long:

9 cm - for edging the top edge of the apron
81 cm - for edging the lower and side (straight) sections
85 cm - for edging concave sections that turn into ties (2 pcs.)

Decorate the apron with an applique from the bags.

Application

This time we will print the picture for the application from the Internet on A4 sheet. Here we will sew such a wonderful train.

We will cut out the trailers from multi-colored file folders. Fabulous passengers will look out of the windows.

Making them is very easy. We cut out pictures of animals, fairy-tale characters from unnecessary magazines and seal them in small bags so that they do not get wet during washing.

We fasten the animals to the trailers with tailor's pins. Later we will sew them to the apron.

The roof of the wagons is cut out of red file folders. And the bottom of the trailers was decorated with stripes from textbook covers.

Now we cut out a clearing and a railway from plastic bags folded in 4 layers.

We fasten the finished parts with tailor's pins and sew them to the apron.

The wheels for the steam locomotive were made from an old and unnecessary cosmetic bag. The fabric of the cosmetic bag is dense and waterproof. Just what you need. It turned out very original.

We sew a pipe, smoke to the steam locomotive and decorate the clearing with flowers.

Here is the finished apron for the boy.

Advice: in polyethylene aprons, children can not only engage in culinary creativity, but also sculpt from plasticine, draw with paints, and help their parents with cleaning the house. Children will be smart, and clothes will be clean.

Other ideas for children's aprons

If there is no time to fiddle with the application, then you can sew such an apron in haste.

The drawing was cut out of an unnecessary bag and sewn on a sewing machine along the contour to the apron.

It turned out simple and tasteful.

And if you don’t have a sewing machine and sewing skills, then you can make an interesting plastic apron using a stapler, household cord and garbage bags.

We draw a pattern on polyethylene and cut it out. (In our example, a pattern for a girl of 10-11 years old).

On the concave sections of the apron, we make holes for the ties at a distance of 1.5 cm from each other. Retreat 1 cm from the edge of the cut. We measure the cord of the required length in advance and pull it into the holes.

Now decorate the apron with flowers from garbage bags.

To make flowers, you will need 12 × 12 cm squares cut from bags.

We fold the blanks 4 times until we get a square 3 × 3 cm in size. We draw rose petals and cut them out.

Here's what happened.

The layers of petals must be separated and stacked on top of each other in a chaotic manner, without shifting far from the center. So the flower will turn out more magnificent.

We fix a pack of petals with a stapler. Next, lift each layer one by one up and crumple it to the middle.

We fasten the flowers along the edge of the apron with a stapler or sew by hand.

Advice:so that the edges of the staples do not catch on the clothes on the wrong side of the apron, turn the stapler over and attach the staples so that the edges close on the right side of the apron.

Sew a vase-shaped pocket to the apron. In order for the pocket to be tight and keep its shape, we will make it double. Cut out a vase blank from a green garbage bag (in rolls). And exactly the same blank from the remnants of polyethylene.

We make flowers for a vase.

Decorate the vase (pocket) with the same cord as on the strings. We take two layers of the pocket, fasten it with a stapler on four sides. We put the cord on the upper cut, fasten it with pins and sew it by hand with matching threads.

We remove the staples and put the pocket on the apron, fasten with pins and sew on three sides by hand. Then we also manually sew the stems and flowers.

The original apron is ready.

Each hostess during the culinary process makes sure that her clothes do not get dirty. An apron is a great helper in this matter. He will protect the clothes, and give the hostess an attractive appearance.

We will sew an elegant apron of size 44-46 from polyethylene with flowers.

Cutting such an apron is quick and easy.

We have already built the pattern (see above in the article). It is suitable for making an apron for mom.

The edges of the apron are rounded at the bottom.

We cut and trim a female apron with an inlay according to the same principle as children's aprons.

For our apron, we cut the inlay from the remnants of the packages. Therefore, I had to cut not 4 strips, but 7.

The width of the strips is 3.5 cm. And the length:

21 cm - for edging the top edge of the apron
142 cm - for edging the lower and side (straight) sections
30 cm - for edging concave sections (2 pcs.)
58 cm - loop
123 cm - ties at waist level (2 pcs.)

Application

The application for the apron was chosen the simplest. But, nevertheless, such an apron looks very beautiful.

We make stems for flowers. We prepare 5 strips 3.5 cm wide. Fold 4 times. First in half, then in half again.

Length of stem strips: 10 cm, 16 cm, 20 cm, 23 cm and 32 cm.

We distribute the finished strips across the width of the apron evenly, chopping with pins. Then we sew.

Cut out patterns of flowers and leaves from cardboard.

We impose a template on cellophane, folded in 7-8 layers, circle and cut out.

We sew the flowers to the apron by hand with thick threads, imitating the middle of the flowers.

Sew on the missing ties.

Apron for mom is ready.

Apron for dad

In many families, men are very fond of cooking, and some even claim to be the best family chef. Therefore, an apron is simply necessary for such a man.

We will sew it from polyethylene, like aprons for children and for mom.

We build a base pattern, substituting our own measurements.

Our sample pattern is made for size 52-54.

We cut out an apron, pockets from polyethylene and prepare inlays.

Pocket width - 68cm, height - 25cm.

The width of the beek is 3.5 cm, and the length:

28 cm - for edging the top edge of the apron
172 cm - for edging the lower and side (straight) sections
134 cm - for edging concave sections that turn into ties (2 pcs.)
68 cm - for processing the top cut of the pocket
25 cm - pocket dividers (2 pcs.)

We process the pockets and edges of the apron with an inlay.

The base of the apron is ready. Decorate with appliqué from bags and sew on letters.

Application

The picture of the cook was taken from the Internet and printed on A4 sheet.

We cut out a circle from packages folded 4 times, with a diameter of 32 cm.

In our version, the circle is made of two halves, since only narrow garbage bags remained in the rolls.

Next, we sewed a circle to the apron and then designed the chef. But it's better to do the opposite. First, sew the chef's logo on the circle and only then attach the circle to the apron. So it is more convenient to scribble on a sewing machine and creases do not form on the basis of the apron.

The chef's face, hands, pants, boots, tie and buttons are made from multi-colored file folders. The shirt, cap and letters are made from a thick white bag.

Eyes, nose and mouth were drawn with a black permanent marker that does not wash off.

The letters were printed on a computer, printed on paper and cut out. The height of the letters is 4.5 cm.

They circled the letters on a thick white bag, cut them out and scribbled them onto cellophane tape. Then sewn to the product.

Dad's apron is ready.
