The roof of a hexagonal gazebo height calculation. How to cover the roof of a gazebo inexpensively - materials and coatings for a hexagonal roof

For several centuries, the gazebo has been the most common element of the garden. This light, graceful design often plays a key role in the organization of the backyard landscape. It is designed in the same style as the house, using suitable materials.

After construction, the gazebo quickly turns into a favorite vacation spot for all family members. It serves as protection from rain and scorching sunlight, while allowing you to comfortably talk, read, drink tea or retire for reflection. The gazebo roof is not only a functional piece; it defines the general appearance of the building. When choosing a roof for her, they take into account the style of the gazebo, its configuration and material. In our article, we propose to consider how to cover the roof of the gazebo inexpensively.

A romantic gazebo with outdoor furniture is a great place to meet friends

Varieties of designs of gazebos and roofs

All the variety of arbors can be divided into several groups. They differ:

  • By design. Open gazebos are the most common option, constructed in most cases from wood. Closed gazebos are characterized by solid walls, glazed openings, a door and sometimes a stove (fireplace). Living gazebos attract romantic people; they are formed by a frame framed by climbing or specially trimmed plants. Large arbors-barbecues are gaining popularity; their integral attribute is a fireplace or barbecue.
  • Based on the shape. There are gazebos with a round (rotunda), square (rectangular), oval or multifaceted base.
  • According to the construction method. Gazebos can be built with or without a foundation; there are portable varieties (wedding).
  • By material. The choice of material is unlimited. Thinking about how to cover a gazebo in the country, they often consider materials such as wood, stone, metal, plastic. You can find a gazebo woven from willow twigs or artificial rattan.

Metal gazebo decorated with climbing plants

  • By style. Classical options are ancient Greek, Roman and Renaissance style. Pavilions in the Russian or Chinese style, chalet and country pavilions are common.

In accordance with the shape and style, the roof of the gazebo can take the form of:

  • Shed. Such a roof is mounted on four-wall structures. Multi-level opposite walls serve as the basis for an inclined truss system; the slope is facing the windward side.
  • gable. Ideal for a rectangular gazebo. Depending on the project, the rafter system will be layered (the rafters have an intermediate point of support in the middle part) or hanging (it does not have intermediate supports).
  • Chetyrekhskatnaya. 4 triangles converging at one point can serve as slopes. If the design consists of 2 triangles and 2 trapezoids, it is called hip. The base of a hipped roof is a rectangle, on which the rafters are laid in an oblique or layered manner.

Openwork wooden gazebo - a classic garden decoration

  • Shatrovaya. A favorite option in private construction, consisting of 5 or more triangular elements fastened with one vertex. The truss system is similar to that used for hipped roofs. The hipped version is suitable for round and polygonal arbors.
  • exotic. There are roofs in a colorful oriental style: Chinese or Japanese (multi-tiered, with ribs curved inwards). Arbors are decorated with a domed, round and bell-shaped roof; mount multi-tiered and asymmetric structures.

Roof design: choice of shape and material

The shape of the roof is a matter of the owner's taste, but the choice should be based on some prerequisites.

Roof construction: about the truss system

The purpose of the truss system is to determine the shape of the roof and support the weight of the roof. The rafters account for most of the pressure, redistributed further to the supporting pillars. Part of the load is taken by the crate.

When designing the truss system (sections, lengths and distances between the rafters, the way they are located), take into account:

  • The shape of the roof (angle of inclination).
  • roof weight.

On our website you can get acquainted with the most from the construction companies presented at the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

What to consider when choosing a roofing material

When choosing how to cover the roof of the gazebo, consider:

  • Weight. Lightweight material does not require reinforcement of the truss system. If, for some reason, a heavy material is chosen (you really like natural tiles), be prepared for the fact that a massive supporting structure is required, and even a foundation.
  • price.
  • roof shape. For pitched roofs, sheet material is more often chosen: metal tiles, profiled sheets and slate. Hip and tent structures made of such materials will be costly (installation time and the amount of waste increase). For them, a soft roof (bituminous tiles) is suitable.
  • Location. If the construction of a wooden gazebo is planned near open water, the wood must be protected from the harmful effects of moisture. The structure is treated with an oil-based impregnation; the procedure is repeated periodically.
  • Safety. Pavilions with barbecue are located at a sufficient distance from the house. In construction, it is preferable to use non-combustible materials: concrete or tile for the floor, tiles and slate for the roof.

Round combined arbor-barbecue

  • Style. The architectural appearance of the gazebo and the surrounding buildings should be combined. An elegant Chinese gazebo with a tiled roof will seem like an alien detail next to a log bath.
  • Climate. The amount of precipitation in winter or constant strong winds are the determining factor in choosing the angle of the roof. In the first case, it is increased (so that the snow does not linger on the surface), in the second, it is made small (to avoid windage).

Popular materials for the roof of the gazebo

In order for the structure to be attractive in appearance and durable, the material for the roof is selected as closely as possible to the shape of the roof. There are many different ideas than to cover the roof of a gazebo in the country, the options that are most common are described below.

Metal tile and corrugated board

Favorite options due to low weight, durability, affordable price, wide color palette and easy installation. Strengthening the structure is not required, but you will need a soundproof layer (if you like to meditate to the sound of rain in the gazebo). The disadvantages are a large amount of waste (when installing a roof of complex shape) and the risk of metal corrosion.

Airy polycarbonate construction

On our website you can find contacts of construction companies that offer small form design services. You can directly communicate with representatives by visiting the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

Polycarbonate

The plasticity of modern building material of various shades allows you to create interesting forms of roofing. The advantages of polycarbonate are:

  • light weight and price;
  • facilitated and accelerated installation;
  • flexibility and strength.

Polycarbonate has limitations in use:

  • without a protective film, the material is destroyed under the influence of ultraviolet radiation;
  • polycarbonate roof is weak sun protection, it can be practical in shady garden.

Flexible (soft, bituminous) tiles

The reinforcing basis of the material is fiberglass; it is impregnated with bitumen and coated in the form of basalt spraying. Flexible tiles look like a collection of small overlapped elements. On sale there is a material of various colors and shapes (beaver tail, dragon tooth, hexagon, rhombus, rectangle). Flexible shingles are practical for many reasons:

  • The best option for roofs with complex shapes (easy installation and little waste).
  • Resistant to corrosion; When installed correctly, the roof is airtight.
  • Long service life (25-30 years) and low weight.
  • Due to its softness, it has excellent sound absorption.
  • Opens up space for design.

Wooden gazebo with a roof made of soft tiles

Roofing for a gazebo made of soft tiles has disadvantages:

  • Instead of a crate under a roof made of bituminous tiles, a continuous flooring of moisture-resistant plywood is arranged, which increases the cost of construction.
  • The use of bitumen makes it a highly flammable material.
  • Burns out in the sun.
  • For the price, the material is in the middle price category (more expensive than metal tiles, but cheaper than ceramic tiles).

Ondulin (soft, bituminous slate)

The material is produced by the same method as flexible tiles; It is produced in the form of sheets of different colors and profiles. Ondulin is similar to tiles in terms of a set of properties - the same flexible, soft and combustible; it requires the arrangement of the crate with a step of at least 0.6 m. Ondulin is lighter than tiles, it is designed for a shorter service life and costs 2 times cheaper. A professionally mounted ondulin roof does not leak onto the gazebo.

Slate

Slate is perhaps the most common material in the post-Soviet space. It is loved for its strength, durability and reasonable price. If you are planning a gazebo-barbecue, slate will be the best choice for the roof. The disadvantage of the material is its fragility and weight; it will greatly complicate the installation of a complex roof.

Roof made of environmentally friendly ceramic tiles

Roof tiles

On sale there are natural (ceramic, baked clay) and cement-sand tiles. Ceramic tiles are considered a premium roofing material. In many ways, it is the optimal roofing material with many advantages:

  • Durability, frost resistance and strength.
  • Flawless appearance. The tile is made in its natural form, covered with glaze (glassy mass with protective properties) or engobe (color-forming coating)
  • Environmental friendliness.
  • Use for the installation of a complex roof.

Disadvantages of natural tiles:

  • The material is considered an indicator of wealth and exquisite taste; the price is appropriate.
  • Installation of the roof is carried out manually and requires time and certain accuracy.
  • The weight of the tiles must be compensated by strengthening the rafter system (put rafters with a smaller pitch).

Gable roof under wooden shingles (shingles)

Other materials

There is a group of materials that are less commonly used for arranging a roof:

  • Straw, reeds and reeds. Eco-style is a popular trend in landscape design; a roof made of natural materials will give the gazebo a cozy look, despite their increased flammability (treatment with flame retardants is poor protection).
  • Shingle. Environmentally friendly material, shingles (wooden planks). Looks original, but difficult to install.
  • Fabric (tarpaulin or PVC). It is used for summer portable structures.
  • Roofing copper. Copper is a plastic material that is used to create roofs of the most unusual shape. Copper roofing has a long service life and a high price.

About the construction of the gazebo in the video:

Four-pitched roof for a summerhouse: design and installation steps

A rectangular or square gazebo is the classic, most common option; the building is stable, it is convenient to place furniture in it (the area is distributed economically). Most often, such an arbor is a frame made of wooden beams on a columnar foundation. The four-pitched roof gives it architectural completeness, an elegant and solemn look.

Installation of a roof truss system

There are several types of roofs with four slopes used for gazebos: hip, half-hip (Danish), tent and Chinese. Installation of a four-pitched roof is like several stages:

  • Design. To make a design scheme, determine the angle of the roof, based on the climatic conditions of the region and the selected roofing material. Then set the length of the roof overhang (its length from the highest point to the bottom).
  • materials. Based on the scheme, the required amount of roofing and rafter material is calculated.
  • Protection. Choosing options for how to make a roof at the gazebo, the rafters are in any case strengthened with water-repellent agents. To maximize the life of the roof, all wooden elements are treated with antiseptics and flame retardants.
  • Installation. The frame of the truss system is assembled. The rafter beams are laid (with control over the building level), support beams; additional connections are created using rafters.
  • Lathing installation. The rafters are being sheathed; under a soft roof (flexible tile) a continuous crate is made.
  • Mounted waterproofing.
  • Roof. The truss system is sheathed with roofing material.

Features of the Chinese hipped roof

Such an exotic option requires the development of a special project. The non-standard arrangement of beams and rafters turns the edges of the roof to the sky, making the gazebo the center of garden design and justifying the complexity of installation.

Conclusion

Regardless of the chosen roof and material, installation work must be carried out in compliance with building codes. A technically well-designed gazebo and roof scheme will allow you to build a reliable and beautiful structure that gives protection and peace to everyone who needs them.

You can find a drawing of a hexagonal gazebo with dimensions on the Internet, but it basically looks like a sketch, not a working drawing. Information drawings with individual structural units, as a rule, are paid, they are not freely available. The information provided below will reveal the secrets of some technical issues.

Marking the foundation for a hexagonal gazebo

To begin with, you should refresh your knowledge of geometry within the school curriculum.

Important. A regular hexagon is made up of six equilateral triangles that have the same sides and angles of 60 degrees. It is this feature that greatly facilitates the task of marking and building the foundation of a hexagonal gazebo with a hexagonal roof.

It doesn't take much to break down the foundation:

  • Leg-split.
  • Small hammer or sledgehammer.
  • Roulette.
  • Rebar stakes.

Having decided on the place and location of the faces relative to existing objects on the site, do the following:

  1. Two stakes are hammered into the ground with a sledgehammer, twine is pulled between them.
  2. At an equal distance from the extreme pegs, a third one is installed, which will be the center of the hexagon. From the center on the twine, measure a distance equal to the side of the face, and make marks.
  3. Now mark the first equilateral triangle as follows. On the twine fixed to the central stake, a size equal to the size of the face of the triangle is marked. By setting the same size between the twine marks, an equilateral triangle is obtained.
  4. The following triangles are constructed in a similar way.

Marking the foundation with a cord and stakes is a matter that everyone can handle

Foundation laying

The type of foundation will depend on the type of flooring in the gazebo. The pile foundation is suitable for wooden floors, as well as concrete floors located at ground level. For concrete floors raised above the ground, a shallowly buried strip foundation is suitable.

Explanation. The depth of the trenches should be at least 80 cm with a sand or gravel cushion of about 20 cm at the bottom. Embedded parts necessary for attaching the gazebo frame are installed in fresh concrete, in this case metal embedded pins are visible in the photo.

Lower strapping device and installation of racks

To assemble the lower hexagon of the gazebo, you need a high-quality wooden beam of coniferous species. There are several connection methods, which allows you to choose the most rational for the existing drawing of a hexagonal gazebo with dimensions. All of the above options provide sufficient connection reliability:

  • Traditional connection in "half-tree".

Arbor hexagon with a "half-tree" connection on a pile foundation. Reliable fixation of the unit is provided by a pin mortgage, passing through the technological holes of the beam connection. A hole is drilled in the lower part of the carrier rack, with which it is put on the mortgage.

  • An option for connecting the lower trim beam into a groove.

  • Connecting the strapping bar directly to the post.

  • Fastening the bearing vertical racks to the finished floor of the gazebo.

Then they move on to the flooring of the boards.

Now go directly to the installation of racks.

Note. Before the next stage of work, the installed racks must be set horizontally and well secured with spacers, since without the upper trim they do not have sufficient strength when exposed from the side.

Roof frame manufacturing

Of course, it is technically possible to make a roof of any configuration, but the most suitable option would be a roof that follows the contour of the structure, in this case it is necessary to make a hexagonal gazebo roof. Structurally, it will consist of such elements as:

  • Mauerlat (top trim).
  • Rafter.
  • Crate.
  • Roofing material.

Advice. Lumber for rafters should be of the same size, have normal moisture content and be free of large knots. Preference should be given to coniferous wood, such as pine, spruce, larch.

Mauerlat is made from a beam of the same size with bearing racks (or boards of the same size with rafters). In this case, the latter option is considered. In order for the Mauerlat to be securely fixed and lie on a vertical stand, a groove is made in the “half-tree”.

The groove is made from the outside of the gazebo.

The attachment point of the rafters to the Mauerlat is carried out by groove fastening, which prevents the rafters from slipping when exposed to snow loads.

The fastening point of the half-rafters is marked in blue, the fastening point of the main rafters is marked in red, and the groove is made in such a way that it overlaps the fastening point of the vertical rack and Mauerlat. Green marks the connecting nodes where it is necessary to use mounting brackets.

Hexagonal crown device

There are several ways to bring together the rafters at the top of the roof. It is very difficult to give preference to any of them, so it is worth considering the most common methods.

  • Using a hexagonal connector.

  • Use of a support stand.

  • Connecting rafters with grooves.

Advice. It is recommended that you first fit and assemble the roof frame on the ground, mark the details, disassemble, and then mount it on the gazebo. To facilitate the installation process, a temporary rack is required, which is removed at the end of the work.

The choice and arrangement of the roof for hexagonal arbors

You can use any roofing, but you need to take into account the surrounding landscape, the design of the gazebo itself and the existing buildings on the site. Gray asbestos-cement slate will look extremely inexpressive on the gazebo.

The flexible tile has a various color palette that considerably expands possibilities in the field of design. It is easy to cut, which is important for roofing, given the specific configuration of the hexagonal roof of the gazebo.

For flexible tiles, solid wood flooring from boards, moisture-resistant plywood or OSB sheets are used as lathing.

Laying of flexible tiles is carried out in order, from the bottom up, fastening is carried out with special nails for soft roofing, in addition, on the inside of the sheets of flexible tiles there is a self-adhesive layer under the protective film, which is removed immediately before installation.

Nothing is impossible, including the construction of a hexagonal gazebo with your own hands, a very real task. A cozy gazebo is the dream of many homeowners, and a hexagonal gazebo has a special charm and stands out from all others.

The hexagonal gazebo is very compact and can be made from a wide variety of materials: metal, wood, plastic, brick, timber, logs. It can be open or glazed. The hexagonal arbor consists of six supports, while the supports can be of the same size or, to achieve a special charm, sometimes the two sides - the entrance and the opposite side, are made different from the others. The roof can also be monotonous - six equal flat triangles - or, to achieve exoticism, be decorated in the style of Feng Shui or any other (for example, the photo below).

Start with a drawing and calculate the required amount of materials.

You will need the following tool (for a wooden gazebo):

  • screwdriver,
  • jigsaw,
  • level,
  • roulette,
  • self-tapping screws,
  • cement mortar,
  • wooden beams with a section of 150x150 mm,
  • planed timber 100x100 mm,
  • edged board 50x100 mm,
  • floor boards,
  • brick or cinder block for pillars
  • roofing material (soft, shingles will look great),
  • primer,
  • ruberoid,
  • pencil,
  • rope

Next, when all the materials are prepared, we proceed to the markup. This is a very important step, so do not rush. The selected area must be freed from vegetation and stones, leveled. We drive a stake in the center and tie it with a rope. We tie the second end to the rail and with the help of such an impromptu compass we make markings - we draw a circle of the required diameter. We divide the resulting circle into six equal parts and place the beacons in the places where the support beams for the gazebo will be located.

In place of the beacons, we dig holes about half a meter deep. We fill the bottom of the pit with river sand, the layer should be about 10-15 centimeters. On top of the sand we fall asleep the same layer of rubble. We drive in a steel bar (about 70 cm long) in the center of the pit and fill it with cement mortar. We lay a brick at the base in 3-4 rows.

After the supports have strengthened, we cut out the beams of the same length - 6 pieces. We prime them and dry them. We lay and fix the beams in their places, and between the beams and supports we lay pieces of roofing material. When fastening beams, use metal corners for reliability.

After the beams are fixed, we fix the logs inside the structure. The central lag is fastened in the center of the structure and aligned horizontally, after which it is fixed with bolts and metal plates to the beams. Further, act as desired, it is recommended, after fixing the central log, to install two more logs perpendicular to the central one, and then the rest at an angle. After all of the above, the logs are reinforced with timber jumpers and sheathed with boards.

For the frame of the gazebo, six bars with a section of 100x100 mm are used. They are mounted on supports and fixed with anchor bolts. The walls are made depending on the design.

The installation of the roof is better described by this illustration:

How to cover the roof of the gazebo - the basic factors affecting the choice of material

The garden gazebo is a place for leisure activities, family holidays, outdoor dining. You can receive guests in it, cook food (for these purposes, a fireplace stove or barbecue is used). This structure should fit into the overall artistic style of the site.

How to choose material for the roof of the gazebo

The roofing material must be durable and aesthetically pleasing, easily withstand wind or snow loads. When choosing how to cover the roof of the gazebo, you should pay attention to the weight of the coating. If natural or composite tiles, slate, slate are used, then the frame of the structure and the roof itself must be reinforced. The construction of braziers, fireplaces and barbecue stoves in gazebos threatens sparks on the roof, so it is better to cover the roof of the gazebo with non-combustible materials, and chimneys should be made twice as long as usual.

Roofs made of fire-resistant material

Tiles natural and composite

This material for the roof of the gazebo is distinguished by the following qualities:

  • originality;
  • practicality;
  • durability.

Among the disadvantages of tiled flooring note:

  • high cost (one unit 420x334 mm - 300 rubles);
  • increased requirements for the frame and foundation of the building;
  • high installation cost.

Dealing with how to cover the roof of the gazebo inexpensively, some people think to use a cheap and not very aesthetic option - slate. Its advantages include:

  • low price (from 180 rubles per sheet);
  • availability.

But for the roofs of such structures, slate is not recommended because of its high fragility.

metal coatings

There are quite a few varieties of metal coatings: metal sheets, corrugated board, metal tiles. These materials require a less durable frame and can be built on a structure with a lightweight foundation. Due to their low cost (200-270 rubles per sheet), metal coatings are quite popular. The disadvantages of metal roofs include:

  • high noise (squeaks, drops or hail during rain make it uncomfortable);
  • the possibility of an avalanche of snow;
  • deformation from constant exposure to high temperatures;
  • uniformity of colors.

Roofs made of polymeric materials

The advantages of this polymer include:

  • transparency;
  • flexibility;
  • ease;
  • moderate cost (1250 rubles per sheet).

Among the disadvantages of such a solution, it is worth noting:

  • short service life (guaranteed resource is 15 years);
  • the importance of matching the sides during installation (otherwise the coating will simply melt from sunlight);
  • fragility (inexpensive options are shattered by a hail of medium size);
  • a large number of fakes on the market (under the guise of polycarbonate, polyethylene plates are sold, the life of which does not exceed two years);
  • vulnerability to combustion products (the coating melts, losing its attractive appearance).

The advantages of this type of flooring include:

  • low cost (from 400 rubles per sheet);
  • light weight;
  • ease of installation.

Among the disadvantages of ondulin can be noted:

  • lack of quality guarantees (a large number of fakes);
  • low strength;
  • low sound insulation.

Flexible tile (bituminous)

Among the many materials for the roof of the gazebo, it is worth highlighting the flexible bituminous tile RUFLEX. as the most durable and aesthetic solution. Multi-layer coating guarantees reliability, has high rates of heat and sound insulation. Other advantages of RUFLEX soft roofing materials include:

  • light weight and elasticity;
  • service life is more than 35 years;
  • ease of installation;
  • when mounted on a continuous crate, practically no waste is generated;
  • aesthetic appearance, variety of shapes and colors;
  • optimal price.

High-quality raw materials and American equipment make it possible to produce RUFLEX shingles using a unique technology, making it a universal option for roofing of any configuration.

How to cover the roof of the gazebo with a soft roof

Knowing how a hexagonal roof is covered, you can then use this experience on any similar structure. The easiest way to deal with the covering of the roof of the gazebo is a soft (flexible) roof - this option is the easiest to learn.

To understand exactly how the roof of the gazebo is covered with a soft roof, you need to imagine the structure of fish scales. The cornice row is laid first on the lining carpet made of soft rolled material, after which the subsequent rows are mounted in 1.5-2 cm increments in a checkerboard pattern. Each shingle is fastened with roofing nails along the edges, all side seams are coated with special glue. The ridge row is mounted from the third cornice shingles with an overlap. Having figured out how to cover how to cover the hexagonal roof of your own gazebo, anyone can lay RUFLEX tiles on the most complex roof.

Installation of a hexagonal roof

The six-sided roof is mounted either on the ground or directly on the gazebo (in any case, a temporary pole is installed to assemble the central support). After the upper trim is made of timber, six long (for the pagoda - curved) rafters are prepared, taking into account the inclined height of the future structure. A hexagon is made (in the form of a spire or a wooden “nut”), on which the tips of the rafters are supported and nailed.

After that, in each rafter leg, grooves are made for the beam of the upper trim. After longitudinal fixation of the rafters, they are sewn together with crossbars in at least four places (with the exception of lightweight structures for metal profiles), waterproofing is laid, after which a number of beams are sewn and a continuous crate of OSB sheets is equipped. Next, a lining carpet is laid, on which, in turn, elastic shingles (plates) of bituminous tiles are laid.

A suburban area is the dream of most citizens who love to spend their weekends in nature. An important factor in a good mood on weekends outside the stuffy city is comfort. Lovers of country life are building architecturally interesting and durable houses, as well as the necessary outbuildings for them. Prudent owners pay a lot of attention to the landscape design of the site. A specially trained specialist helps to create beauty around the house, or the owner himself masters the necessary skills.

An example of a hexagonal arbor in a suburban area made of wood

Often on the site you can see a gazebo. These structures are diverse in their type (closed or open), they are built from various materials (wood, brick). The hexagonal gazebo in terms of comfort and beauty is not inferior to structures similar in purpose. If you have the appropriate skills and observe the construction technology, you can build a gazebo with your own hands.

Stages of construction of a summer building

The place for the gazebo is selected by the owner of the site based on his preferences. If, in addition to the gazebo, it is planned to add architectural elements in addition, then the structure is placed in an open space. Otherwise, if you want to retire to a cozy gazebo, you can put it in the shade of a tree. Not all sites have flat ground. If there are irregularities, the top layer is usually removed, and the surface is leveled in order to determine the preliminary boundaries of the gazebo.

When erecting a gazebo, the builder goes through several stages:

  1. Creating a drawing.
  2. Preparation of materials.
  3. Marking the base and its installation of the foundation.
  4. Wall construction.
  5. Floor arrangement.
  6. Cover installation.

Construction scheme of a hexagonal gazebo, side and top view

The drawing is drawn up after determining the dimensions of the future structure. Also, the construction plan helps to determine the amount of material required for construction.

IMPORTANT: The weight of the future gazebo plays an important role, as it allows you to correctly assess the mechanical load on each point of construction. This helps to ensure its stability. The choice of materials for the construction of the future structure also depends on the possible load on the structure. The same applies to the choice of foundation for the structure.

What tools are used in the construction of a hexagonal gazebo?

The builder must have the following tools at hand:

  1. Machine (circular), hacksaw.
  2. Plane.
  3. Hammer and screws (nails).
  4. Roulette, level.
  5. Stairs.
  6. Wooden boards.
  7. Material for waterproofing.
  8. Bar.

Under the foundation requires a concrete solution. For its manufacture use:

  • gravel or sand, cement composition;
  • shovel;
  • Master OK;
  • container for solution;
  • concrete mixer or drill with a suitable nozzle.

The project of a hexagonal gazebo made of wooden beams

At the points of the circle outlined in the plan, pillars are mounted that play the role of a support. For supports, planed timber (10X10cm) is most often used. Crushed stone is poured into the pits, then a layer of sand about 10 cm thick and poles are installed. On the one hand, they are treated with waterproofing material. Above the level of the floor covering, the length of the supports is identical to the height of the gazebo. In the center, the pole should be shorter than the rest. The pits in which the pillars stand are filled with concrete. The composition must harden: for this, the builder must give it some time, and only then proceed to the arrangement of the floor covering.

The foundation is the foundation of any structure.

The base of the building is marked with a rope and a wooden block. In the middle of the gazebo, you need to put a bar, tie a rope to it. Connect its other end to a peg. The length of the twine must match the drawing (the radius that was calculated according to this plan). The corners of the structure are determined using pegs. After that, a recess is dug for the base of the gazebo. The type of base depends on what material the gazebo is planned from. If it is wood, then the best option would be to create a tape type foundation. In the case of a massive building structure, it is not forbidden to use a columnar foundation.

The base can be made of durable wooden boards

Tape base type: for its arrangement it is necessary to make 12 formwork panels. They are fixed on each other from 6 sides, which is equal to the indicator - a pair of shields on each side. A solution of cement and sand is prepared in a ratio of 1: 3. Before pouring the solution, reinforcement is installed at the bottom.

Column type base: Gravel is added to the cement-sand mixture. In this composition, the mixture is poured into columns, the minimum number of which should correspond to the number of corners of the gazebo, plus one column remaining in the center of the building. Thus, the columns should be 7 units.
Roofing material is laid on top of the columns, which is used as a waterproofing material.

Arbor frame

The "skeleton" of the structure is made of small bars, which are interconnected horizontally. Grooves are created at the joints that connect the material. The grooves are cut in such a way that their thickness is 50% less than the volume of the wooden beam. The frame, which is assembled, is fixed with nails. After that, the frame lies on the reinforcement, in the role of which the rods act.

The process of assembling the frame of the future gazebo

In the place where the foundation and the pillar are joined together, metal plates are used using self-tapping screws. The frame of the upper structure is best assembled on the ground, and then placed on top of the pillars. It is attached by analogy with the bottom: metal plates and a corner. When installing the pillars at each stage, they need to be measured using a plumb line. The level is needed only after they are installed: they are checked for the possibility of skewing the roof. After the pillars, a railing is installed with cutting grooves at a predetermined height in the pillars. Crossbars are inserted into the grooves and fixed. After fixing the crossbars, the skeleton of the future structure is sheathed. There are many upholstery materials. Consumers most often use the following:

  • lining;
  • edged boards;
  • lattice (decorative).

IMPORTANT: If the builder plans to build a gazebo more than 3 meters in diameter, then it is better to create an octagonal shape, with the creation of a columnar type of foundation.

The roof of the gazebo: what you need to know when installing the roof?

Hexagonal roof of the gazebo, inside view

The roof of any building plays an important role because it protects from moisture and the adverse effects of the atmosphere. For the manufacture of the roof, it is better to use slats with dimensions of 5X7 cm. They are mounted on the base with a rib and fixed with self-tapping screws. For the butt, already pre-cut slats are used to form the correct tie-in. Their ends should be connected in the central part of the building: there they are fixed with a column. In order to give the frame greater stability, additional rails are mounted, which are fixed perpendicular to the existing ones. In this way, a timber crate is created for mounting the material used in the roofing. The materials most often used in roofing for summer buildings are tiles, ceramics, and soft-type corrugated board.
