Do-it-yourself welding generators from a washing machine. In spite of scrap metal collectors: homemade products from the engine from the washing machine

Interruptions in the central power supply, as well as exorbitant electricity bills, are increasingly forcing people to think about an autonomous power source. Let the generator be low-power, and work only as a backup source of energy, but it will be able to help out at the most important moment.

We also decided not to stand aside and offer a "workable version" of converting an asynchronous motor from an old washing machine into a sufficiently powerful 1.5 kW generator.

Getting ready to make a generator

If you decide to "quickly bungle" your own home-made electric generator, "riveting" the engine from the washing machine, it is better to immediately cast aside the illusions, because "quick" will not work. To begin with, there are three main problems that need to be addressed:

  • how to partially remove the core of the old working motor from the washing machine and prepare the grooves for the magnets on it;
  • where to get neodymium magnets for the generator rotor;
  • what to make a template for attaching magnets.

Let's solve the first problem. Let's take an asynchronous motor from an old "washing machine", disassemble its case, and then, using a lathe, cut off a part of the core to a depth of about 2 mm. Let's put the engine aside for now. Next, we will need to purchase a set of neodymium magnets, the easiest way is to order them in the online store. We are waiting for the magnets to come.

After that, we cut out grooves on the engine core, 5 mm deep, for magnets on the machine. Here you need to masterfully own a lathe, it is best to call for help from some familiar turner. After you prepare the motor core, you will need to think about what to make a template for attaching the magnets. We used a strip of tin, although we assume that another material with similar properties may work. Cut the strip along the length and width so that it fits exactly on the surface of the core.

The tin strip should also be prepared, namely, mark it along its entire length to accommodate 2 rows of magnets on it so that the magnets are located at the same distance. Further, to convert the electric motor of the washing machine into a generator, we need superglue, cold welding, you can take epoxy resin instead of welding, as well as sandpaper.

For your information! It is better to take cold welding, it is easier to work with, besides, it will immediately help to better fix the magnets, making it easier for you to stick them.

Generator assembly and testing

We have prepared everything that is needed in order to make a generator from a washing machine engine, now you can start the assembly process. We note right away that only a very patient person can do this work with their own hands. The magnets are constantly jumping off and sticking together, the glue flies in all directions, getting not only on the hands, but also on the face, so be extremely careful and follow the safety rules when working with potentially hazardous chemicals. We do the following:

  1. We begin to manufacture the magnetic rotor of the motor in order to turn it into a generator. We glue our tin template for magnets across the engine.
  2. A home-made generator needs magnets, so we, according to the previously noted risks, put magnets in two rows on superglue.

Important! The distance between the magnets and the angle must be the same, otherwise, during the operation of the generator, frequent sticking will occur, accompanied by a drop in power.

  1. Carefully fill in the space between the magnets with carefully kneaded cold welding. It has the consistency of plasticine, so problems should not arise.
  2. With our own hands we grind the generator made from the engine of the washing machine with sandpaper. To speed up the process, you can clamp the case in a drilling machine, but you can do everything with your own hands without tools, it will take a little longer.

We have finished making an electric generator from a washing machine motor, now we can proceed to the long-awaited tests. In order to check the generator, we need:

  • rectifier;
  • Solar charge controller;
  • multimeter;
  • motorcycle battery;
  • the generator itself.

You also need to think about how you will turn the generator. Fingers are not an option, you will not be able to provide enough RPM. It is best to use a screwdriver or electric drill for these purposes. We find on our generator two wires of the working winding, and cut the rest. We connect these wires through a rectifier to the charge controller, and in turn we connect it to the battery. We put the crocodiles of the multimeter on the battery terminals - that's all, and you're ready to test the generator.

We load the electric drill into the chuck (you can use a screwdriver), the generator pulley and spin it up to 800-1000 revolutions. At the output we get 270 volts with moderate sticking of magnets - not a bad result.

Prospects for using such a generator

Many people ask the question, well, we made such a generator, and what, how to use it in the household, so that it is useful? Personally, we made this generator with an eye on the independent manufacture of a gasoline power plant from an obsolete, but working Soviet Druzhba chainsaw. According to our calculations, the design should have turned out to be a penny, which cannot be said about factory gasoline stations.

As a result, we managed to realize our idea. We connected the engine of the chainsaw to our generator through a drive belt, securing everything to the frame from the same chainsaw. I didn't even have to cook the frame separately. Our power plant has been operating properly for the second year already, supplying all energy consumers in the country house. There is enough power to illuminate two rooms, to ensure the operation of a computer and a TV.

There are other options for using a homemade generator. The article eloquently describes the process of making an installation, which, using the natural force of the wind, can supply energy to the same country house or garage. Some suggest using this generator to power a ski lift. In general, connect your imagination, and you will also find a couple of ways.

In conclusion, we note that the manufacture of a homemade generator is fraught with certain difficulties. The main difficulty lies in the gluing of the magnets when creating the rotor. But you can go the simple way - order a ready-made magnetic rotor. In this case, the generator will cost you 200 rubles more, but you will save a lot of time.

A generator is an electrical device that converts thermal or mechanical energy into electric current, that is, it performs the usual work of an electric motor in the reverse order. The purpose of creating a generator from an asynchronous motor of a washing machine (any other motor from a household appliance of suitable power) can be to create:

  • inverter type welding machine;
  • uninterruptible power supply for a private house (apartment);
  • charger and so on.

But in order to better understand how to make a generator from a washing machine engine, let's figure out what an asynchronous motor from an unnecessary washing machine is.

Asynchronous motor and principles of its operation

An electric motor (asynchronous) is a device that transforms the electrical energy it receives into mechanical (thermal) energy, thus bringing the device into which it is installed into action. The transformation of one type of energy into another occurs due to the electromagnetic induction arising between the windings of the rotor and stator of the motor (school physics course).

It will not be difficult to buy a ready-made asynchronous generator today. But the cost of this factory-made device will be quite expensive. And the purpose of creating such a device is not to waste finances, but, on the contrary, to save them by using an asynchronous electric motor, free time, personal knowledge and experience. Let's make a reservation right away. If you do not have (do not remember) basic, initial knowledge in electrical engineering, it is better to immediately leave alone the idea of creating a homemade generator from a single-phase washing machine motor with your own hands.

Step-by-step instruction

Devices and parts required for operation:

  • Asynchronous single-phase motor from an automatic washing machine. An electric motor with a power of 170-180 watts is quite suitable. The manufacturer and production time of the engine are irrelevant. The main thing is that it is in working order;
  • Neodymium magnets in the amount of 32 pieces. With dimensions: 20-10-5 millimeters. Photo. Magnets can be purchased from a specialist electronics store or ordered online;
  • Device charging controller;

  • Rectifier of suitable capacity. You can buy ready-made, use from another device or assemble it yourself using D242 diodes;
  • Glue (epoxy resin, Super Moment);
  • Wax paper;
  • Scissors;
  • Sandpaper;
  • Home lathe;
  • Wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers and other little things.

The order of doing work with your own hands:

  1. We remake the rotor (native) of the washing machine engine. This operation consists in removing on a lathe on the protrusions of the side cheeks a core layer with a thickness of two millimeters.
  2. Then, using the same machine, we cut grooves of five millimeters according to the number of magnets that will be mounted in them.
  3. We measure the circumference of the rotor converted by our own hands and, based on the measurements obtained, we make a template from a steel (tin) strip.
  4. Using the template, divide the rotor into equal shares.
  5. Based on the fact that each of the four rotor poles will need 8 magnets, we divide them into parts.
  6. We glue the neodymium magnets in the pre-made grooves, given that the magnets are very strong, when gluing, you should use sufficient physical effort to hold them in the desired position. Installing all 32 magnets will take a significant amount of time and attention.
  7. After fixing them, we check the strength and correct position of the magnets.
  8. Fill the free space between the magnets with epoxy. For this:
  • in several layers we wrap the rotor with waxed paper and fix it in any convenient way (glue, scotch tape);

  • we also seal the end sides, you can use ordinary plasticine;
  • cut out a small diameter hole in the paper;
  • pour epoxy resin into the resulting cavity with magnets until it is completely filled;
  • leave the retainer to dry;
  • after the resin has frozen, remove the paper and plasticine.
  1. We process the surface of the rotor with emery paper until the desired result (smoothness) is obtained.
  2. If necessary, the tightening screws and motor bearings are replaced with new ones.
  3. Of the 4 wires of the electric motor, we select 2 going to the working winding. Remove the remaining (starting) wires.
  4. We connect the controller, rectifier and single-phase asynchronous motor from the washing machine into one circuit and perform operational testing of the self-assembled asynchronous electricity generator.

DIY asynchronous generators

In our article, we gave an example of converting a washing machine engine into a generator using neodymium magnets. But, besides this, you can make the following types of generators with your own hands:

  • Self-powered generator;
  • Wind power generator;
  • 3-phase gas generator;
  • Phase generators on any engine from household appliances.

Safety precautions when using electric generators

Considering that any electrical equipment is a potential threat to its user, it must be reliably insulated.

Be sure to ground the generator.

Do not neglect the routine inspection of the equipment.

Equip the device with separate on and off buttons, as well as measuring instruments that control the correct operation of the generator.

Homemade generator from the washing machine engine with your own hands: video instructions.

A wind generator is a great alternative to electric power sources. It is used for private houses, remote from power lines and as an additional power source. In this article, we will tell you how to make a mini-windmill from available tools (washing machine, scrap metal, broken household appliances) with your own hands.

A wind generator is a set of mechanical devices related to an alternative source of electricity, which convert the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical energy with the help of blades, and then into electrical energy.

Wind turbine - an alternative source of energy for a private house

Modern models have three blades, which provides a higher efficiency of the installation. The minimum wind speed at which the wind turbine is started is 2-3 m / s. Also, the technical characteristics always indicate the nominal speed - the wind indicator at which the installation gives the maximum efficiency, usually 9-10 m / s. When the wind speed is closer to 25 m / s, the blades become perpendicular to the wind, due to which the power generation drops significantly.

In order to provide a private house with electricity, at a wind speed of 4 m / s, it is enough:

  • 0.15-0.2 kW for basic needs: room lighting, TV;
  • 1-5 kW to ensure the operation of the main electrical appliances (refrigerator, washing machine, computer, iron, etc.) and lighting;
  • 20 kW will provide energy to the whole house, including heating.

Because the wind can stop at any time, the wind turbine is not connected directly to electrical appliances, but to batteries with a charge controller. Because rechargeable batteries produce alternating current, and for household appliances a constant current of 220V is needed, an inverter is installed, to which all electrical appliances are connected. The disadvantages of wind generators include noise and vibration produced from them, especially for powerful installations, more than 100 kW.

Types of wind turbine blades

The main parts of the wind turbine

To make a homemade windmill, you need to know what main parts it consists of and what they can be replaced with:

  • The rotor is a rotating part of the installation, powered by the force of the wind. It can be bought at a store or removed from a non-working unit (engine or from a drill generator).
  • Blades. They are usually made from wood, light metal (aluminum) or plastic. They can be of the sail type (like a windmill) and vane.

Advice! The vane profile blades are more efficient.

  • A generator is a device that converts wind force into electrical energy. You can make it yourself from magnetic coils or remake a ready-made washing machine or car generator.
  • The tail is an element that helps orient the windmill in relation to the wind. It is made of wood, light metal, plexiglass or plastic.

Schematic: wind generator device
  • Horizontal yard to support generator, wind turbine and tail.
  • The mast, on which the yard with the generator is movably attached. It reaches lengths from 5 m to 20 m and is made of durable wood or plastic / iron pipe with a hollow interior with a conduit for the outlet of the electrical wire. It is secured with steel cables for added security.

Advice! The higher the wind turbine match, the more energy it will generate.

  • The wire connecting the generator and the shield. And the switchboard itself consists of:
  1. battery. It is best to use special devices for alternative energy systems;
  2. battery charge controller;
  3. inverter.

How to make a generator for a wind turbine from a washing machine

As a generator for a wind turbine, it is best to use an asynchronous motor, which is used in old-style washing machines.

Attention! The main problem with homemade generators is sticking magnets. To avoid this, they are installed at a slight incline.

How to install a wind generator

  • We install the generator, blades, rotor and tail on the carrier rail. In this case, it is necessary
    cover the generator and the wind turbine rotor with a special cover to protect it from atmospheric influences.

Advice! For protection against cold, the unit can be coated with a silicone based grease.

  • The power plant is mounted on the rail with a movable hinge mechanism.
  • The mast is fixed to a concrete base with 4 bolts.
  • A wire is drawn along the mast from the generator to the switchboard.

The wind generator is installed in calm weather.
  • After that, the voltage controller, battery and inverter are connected.
  • The installation is connected to test devices, during normal operation it is reconnected to the network.

Attention! Before connecting complex household appliances to the network, check the operation of elementary ones, for example, a charger for a phone.

A wind generator is an environmentally friendly option for generating electricity. Small wind turbines are perfect for summer cottages or as an additional power source in private houses in the absence of light. In order to do it yourself, you need to have basic knowledge of electrical and electronics. It is advisable to read the video instruction for more information.

Wind generator from a washing machine motor: video

We will send the material to you by e-mail

Scrap collectors will be happy to take your old washing machine away from you. But do not rush to please them. You will not help out a little money for scrap, but if you approach this issue wisely, you can acquire many useful things for the household. Homemade products from the engine from the washing machine will help you quickly clean a bird from a feather, cut pet food, mow the lawn, smoke fish and meat. And this is not a complete list of what can be done from a washing machine. Today, in the editorial review of the site, there are detailed instructions on how to give the "iron heart" a new life from the washing machine.

Parts from the washing machine - material for many useful homemade products

If you are going to make homemade products from a used engine, you need to figure out what it is and what it is capable of. In you can find three types of motors: asynchronous, brushless and brushed. Let's take a closer look at them:

  • Asynchronous- can be two-phase or three-phase. Two-phase engines are found in old models of Soviet production. More modern machines are equipped with a three-phase one. The design of such an engine is extremely simple, it can reach speeds of up to 2800 rpm. The working engine removed from the machine just needs to be lubricated - and it is ready for new exploits.
  • Collector- you will find this type of motor in the design of most household appliances. Such devices can operate on direct and alternating current, have compact dimensions and controllable speed. The only drawback of this engine is the washable brushes, but these parts can be replaced if necessary.

  • Brushless direct drive- the most modern engine from a Korean manufacturer. You will find it in modern washing machines from LG and Samsung.

Now that you can determine the type of motor, it remains to decide where you can apply the motor from the washing machine.

We correctly disassemble and decide what can be done from the parts of the old washing machine

Dismantling a washing machine is a slow business. After working with water, salt build-up may remain on the parts, it must be carefully removed so as not to damage the parts when removing. What can be made from an old washing machine? For homemade products, a motor is useful - it will become the basis for many devices. The drum will also be used. It is usually made of stainless steel. Disconnect all pipes from the drum. A loading hatch may also be useful. In addition to these parts, do not rush to throw away the springs, counterweights and body parts.

How to make a sharpener or grinder from a washing machine motor

A sharpener is one of the most sought-after home tools. It can be used to sharpen garden tools, household knives and scissors. If you don't already have one, buy it at any tool store or make a grinder from a washing machine. The most difficult moment is how to attach the emery wheel to the motor. The easiest way is to buy a ready-made flange. It looks something like this.

You can grind a flange from a metal pipe of a suitable diameter, most often a pipe with a cross section of 32 mm is suitable. From it you need to cut a piece 15 centimeters long, this is quite enough to fix the emery. The flange is secured to the motor shaft by welding or through bolt. The video describes in detail how a do-it-yourself grind from a washing machine works:

We make a lathe for wood from a washing machine

What else can you do with the washer motor? One popular idea is a wood lathe. Let's consider a step-by-step process.

IllustrationDescription of action
Use a metal corner to secure the motor firmly to the workbench. To do this, drill holes for fixing to the motor feet and table.
To attach a wooden part, you need a flange fixed to the motor shaft, and these are the studs made from ordinary shear-headed bolts. Screw these pins into the base. You will need 3 studs.
The motor is fixed to the table with self-tapping screws, to the metal part - with bolts.
The opposite end of the wooden part is attached with such a fixture. It consists of a screw with a loop, two wooden supports perpendicularly fixed to the corners.
This piece of wood must be movable so that different pieces can be used. For mobility, it is attached to a threaded rod with bolts.
A power supply is required to control the motor. One of the computer units can be used. You will need to install switches to adjust the rotation speed.
How to connect a motor to a power supply in animation.
To guide the instruments, make a handcuff. It consists of two wooden parts and a metal corner. All parts are movable due to fastening with one bolt.
The lower part of the handcuff is rigidly fixed on the workbench with self-tapping screws and corners.
The workpiece is fixed on the machine from two sides: on the left - on pins, on the right - on a bolt with a handle. To fix it in the workpiece, you need to drill the appropriate holes.
For work, you will need sharpened tools - cutters.
The final sanding of the workpiece is done with a strip of sandpaper.

How to make a simple feather removal machine from a washing machine with your own hands for household needs

Slaughtering poultry is a troublesome stage. Usually they do this in the fall, when the ducks and broilers have reached the desired weight, and it is no longer profitable to keep them in the winter. You need to pinch a few dozen or even hundreds of carcasses very quickly. You can get rid of hard labor with the help of a pen-removable machine, and you can easily do everything from the same details of the washing machine.

For the device, you do not need to disassemble the washing machine. It is especially convenient to use top-loading machines. You just need to fix the beats in the drum so that they look inward. Before plucking the chicken, the carcass must be scalded with boiling water, and then simply thrown into a rotating drum. Here's what you get:

Important! To prevent water from entering the feathering machine motor, you need to protect it with a plastic cover.

And the last point - the feathering device must be firmly fixed, since the vibration when loading the carcass will be very strong.

Used Lawn Mower

We continue to look for the answer to the question of where you can use the motor from the washing machine. Another original idea is manufacturing. For a small area, an electrical model tied to a power source with a cord is sufficient. The device of such a unit is very simple. You will need to make a platform on four wheels with a small diameter.

The motor is fixed on top of the platform, the shaft is threaded through the hole at the bottom, and a knife is attached to it. It remains only to attach handles and a lever to the cart to turn the power on and off. If you have an asynchronous motor lying around, you will be surprised how quiet the unit will turn out, even in comparison with the factory models.

Advice! To prevent grass from wrapping around the knives, you need to slightly bend their cutting edges down.

Animal feed cutter

For a villager, a feed cutter is a very important device in the household. And this unit is easy to make from. What can be used: a drum and a motor.

For a feed cutter, you will need to make a body in which a drum with sharpened holes for cutting and a cover for pressing will be mounted. The connection between the rotating drum and the motor is via a drive. The finished model looks like this:

How to assemble a generator from an old washing machine

We continue to consider homemade products from the motor from the washing machine, and the turn came to the generator. You won't be able to assemble a powerful device, but you can prepare for an emergency shutdown. To turn the engine into a generator, you will have to disassemble it and partially cut off the core. In the rest of the core, you need to make grooves for neodymium magnets.

The gaps between the magnets are filled with cold welding. To operate the device, you need to include a motorcycle battery, a rectifier and a charge controller in the kit. Details of work in the video:

Homemade concrete mixer

If you have started a small renovation that requires, for example, plastering the walls, a concrete mixer will come in handy. And again, the parts of the washing machine will come in handy.

As a container for concrete, you can use the same drum with pre-sealed holes for draining water. It is best to use parts from a front-loading machine, there is almost nothing to redo. To strengthen the body, use a metal corner, and for convenient movement of the concrete mixer, equip it with wheels. The main difficulty in the design is the manufacture of a "swing" for the correct tilt and subsequent pouring of concrete. How to do it correctly in the video:

Homemade products from the engine from the washing machine: circular saw

You will be surprised, but a circular can also be built on the basis of a washing machine motor. An important point in this matter is the additional equipment of the motor with a device that regulates speed. Without this additional module, the circular will work unevenly and simply will not cope with the task at hand. Device assembly diagram:

The principle of operation of the device is simple: the engine drives the shaft on which the small pulley is worn. From the small pulley goes the drive belt to the large saw blade pulley.

Important! Take care of your hands when working with a homemade circular. All structural parts must be firmly fixed.

The resulting unit will not be very powerful, so it can only be used to dissolve boards up to 5 cm thick.How does such a homemade circular work:

What else can be made from a washing machine drum: original decor ideas

The drum, with its correct perforation, is a material for the manufacture of decorative items. Here are some interesting ideas.

Bedside tables and tables. Top-loading drums with a door can hide the little things you need.

We make a brazier from a drum from a washing machine, photo examples

- the product is temporary. Sooner or later, it burns out and needs to be replaced. Each time you can buy a new one or use an improvised material, for example, a drum from a washing machine. Making this craft out of a washing machine drum takes a couple of minutes. The beauty is that oxygen easily enters the perforated container, which causes active combustion.

The drum metal will be able to withstand a couple of seasons. Make a comfortable stand for him so that you can not bend over, and you're done. Standard length skewers will fit comfortably on a small brazier. If necessary, you can lightly tack a pair of rails by welding.

How to make a good smoker from a washing machine drum

The cherry on the cake in our question is. Fragrant smoked meat, bacon and fish - what could be better for the table? If you have a tank from a top-loading car lying around in your shed or garage - consider it in the bag.

In the bottom of the tank, it is necessary to cut a hole for the firebox, weld fasteners inside for hanging products. It remains only to install the tank on the hearth, hang the fish or bacon, cover the top of the tank with a lid and ignite the sawdust.

It is important that the fuel under the smoker is smoldering and not burning. It is better to place such a device away from home.

Important! You will have to look after such a smokehouse. It cannot be left for a long time, the fire can flare up, and instead of smoked, you will get a burnt product.

An old washing machine is a real klondike of spare parts for a home craftsman. And the desire to give them a second life is quite understandable - for example, to design a wind turbine. A simple and useful device will partially solve the problem of power supply for a small object: a country house, an outbuilding for tools or a workshop. Moreover:

  • The cost of the cheapest model of an Asian-made wind generator from Aliexpress is several tens of thousands of rubles. And no one can guarantee that a working and powerful device will be sent to you.
  • A wind generator from a washing machine with your own hands will cost no more than 5000r. The price includes all the necessary consumables, provided that you already have a faulty machine that you want to find a worthy use.

Please note that some mechanical and electrical knowledge is required to successfully assemble the unit. But the output will be quite 2 - 2.5 kW, completely ready for long-term operation in the Russian climate. A couple of rooms, a small PC or a TV - the power of the device is quite enough to supply them with energy, and - completely free of charge.

We select materials

The basis of the future design is an electric motor of a washing machine with a power of at least 1.5 kW. We are talking about a serviceable design, not a burned-out motor. You will also need:

  • A rotor with blades that will rotate thanks to the force of the wind. The design of the blades is easy to make with your own hands from scrap materials: plywood, sheet metal, etc.
  • A set of neodymium magnets - 32 pcs. 0.5, 1 or 2 cm each.
  • Reducer, "responsible" for the speed of rotation of the generator.
  • A protective casing that excludes any climatic effect on external structural elements.
  • A battery that carefully collects and stores energy for the operation of household appliances in a calm period.
  • Inverter for converting DC to AC.
  • A mast for installing the structure in an open space.

If you decide to surprise your family with your own wind generator made from a motor from a washing machine, do not rush to run to the nearest market for shopping. Most of the listed devices and materials are easy to find in old household appliances that are out of use and gathering dust in the basement or on the balcony. This saves you time and further reduces the cost of the future generator. An exception is neodymium magnets, which are better ordered at Aliexpress or in ordinary stores selling electrical equipment and radio goods. Tools that should be at hand during operation: a screwdriver, scissors and pliers, as well as a drill or screwdriver, which will play the role of wind during testing of the device.

Cores are removed from the engine rotor, on which grooves are cut 5 mm deep. Then the cores are covered with a tin cover and the neodymium magnets are laid. First, they must be marked and then sequentially laid out on a strip of tin, taking into account the mutual attraction of neighboring magnets. Fastening is carried out with a suitable super glue, which guarantees a secure connection of the metal elements.

Please note: when constructing a wind turbine from a washing machine engine, it is important to observe the distance between adjacent magnetic elements. The force of attraction of neodymium magnets is so great that even a super glue mount cannot hold them in place. And the adhesion of elements will negatively affect the operating power of the new generator.

You will have to work hard to create an impeller with a shank and blades. The main thing is that they rotate easily under the influence of the wind. An excellent solution would be fiberglass - a dense and light material that is durable and not afraid of the climatic difficulties of the Russian weather.

After laying and gluing, a sheet of metal with magnets is placed on the rotor, filling the gaps with cold welding or epoxy. Final sanding of the surface with sandpaper - and the generator frame is completely ready.

For a wind generator from a pump from a washing machine, a vertical gearbox is recommended. Its main advantage is the ability to rotate freely on the mast along with the blade structure. Of course, the weight of the auxiliary device will slow down the rotation speed somewhat. On the other hand, the reducer limiting the number of revolutions of the blades will "take care" that the propeller does not fail during the hurricane wind.

According to the above diagram:

  • the main gear 5 is put on the mast 7;
  • reinforcing sections C are welded in a circle;
  • bearings with gears B are put on the armature;
  • small gear A is in contact with gear B;
  • gears B are in contact with the teeth of the gearbox housing 11.

We check the performance of the device

The two wires leading to the motor winding are connected to the rectifier, and the rectifier is connected to the controller to which the battery is connected. Using a drill or screwdriver, the device is put into operation at a speed of about 1000 rpm. The voltmeter probes are connected to the battery and the resulting voltage is measured. An indicator of 200-300 V indicates the excellent performance of the device.

Please note: if the voltage level is low, it is likely that a mistake was made when installing the magnets. If you are determined to achieve the goal and assemble a working generator, the device will have to be altered or made in a new way.

Manufacturing a mast for installing a wind turbine

A high mast will help to securely install a wind generator from a pump from a washing machine. The optimal solution is steel pipes with a diameter of about 32 mm, which are relatively light and strong. Several segments, connected in series by welding, will easily turn into a high mast about 10 m long. It is painted white or another light color and mounts from the corners are mounted, which securely hold the structure in an upright position. The finished mast can be placed on an "unnecessary" lighting support or other free pole, which was once installed, but has not yet found a worthy use for it. In the absence of a pillar, you will have to independently think over and make a support for the mast that can withstand the weight of the working structure.
