Very often housewives complain that bell peppers are very expensive today. But isn't he worth the money? Juicy, meaty, sweet and delicious. It comes in different colors and is generally available all year round! Today we will prepare a salad: Chinese cabbage, bell pepper, which, without a doubt, your household will like.

It becomes unusual mainly only because of the grilled cheese. After all, there are few places where you have tried this product in any other way than in its “fresh”, original form.

  • 200 grams of cherry tomatoes;
  • 100 grams of Adyghe cheese;
  • 1 yellow bell pepper;
  • 1 clove of garlic;
  • 30 grams of Chinese cabbage;
  • 1/2 bunch of fresh dill;
  • 15 grams of butter;
  • 30 ml sunflower oil.

Chinese cabbage salad, bell pepper:

  1. Wash tomatoes, peppers, cabbage and dill. Dry everything.
  2. Finely chop the dill and finely chop the cabbage using a sharp knife.
  3. Remove the stems from the tomatoes and cut them into halves.
  4. Remove the seeds and stems from the pepper. Cut the pulp into small pieces.
  5. On a large platter, combine cabbage leaves, tomatoes, peppers and dill. Season vegetables and herbs with olive oil, season with spices and stir.
  6. Cut the cheese into slices approximately two mm thick.
  7. Heat a frying pan and add butter to it. Send about five grams of your favorite dry spices/herbs there.
  8. Squeeze a clove of garlic into the pan. But it must be cleared of husks in advance.
  9. Fry the garlic with spices for thirty seconds. This is necessary so that all the herbs and garlic give off their aroma and taste.
  10. After half a minute, place the pieces of cheese in the pan. Fry them for four minutes on each side. A golden brown crust should form.
  11. Place the prepared cheese in the center of the salad and serve.

Tip: You can also use other types of cheese as grilled cheese. For example, cheddar or mozzarella. These two types are most often used when “stretchy” cheese is needed. But then there will be little garlic and spices here. The cheese will need to be “wrapped” in breading (flour + eggs + crackers), otherwise it will spread throughout the pan.

Cabbage with pepper creates a multivitamin combination that replenishes a week's supply of vitamins necessary for the body to function properly. As a result, no colds, but lightness of spirit and good health.

I first became acquainted with Chinese cabbage in the late 90s, when my family and I went on a tour to Prague; in those days we had no trace of such products. Standing in front of the vegetable counter in the supermarket, I couldn’t understand what it was, lettuce or cabbage, especially since the name was in Czech... Actually, until the end of the 70s, Chinese cabbage, or as it is also called , Chinese lettuce, was a rather scarce commodity not only here, but throughout Europe and even America, because it was mainly imported from its homeland - China, where it has been cultivated since about the 6th century. Only relatively recently has it ceased to be a rarity in stores. This is due, first of all, to the development of new varieties that make it possible to successfully grow it in the European climate. The results of the breeders' work are obvious - Chinese cabbage can now be bought in every supermarket at any time of the year.

WHAT AND WHO IS BEIJING USEFUL FOR?

Why is Chinese cabbage so useful, why is it valued, what is the reason for the dizzying success of Chinese cabbage around the world? First of all, it is worth noting that it contains several times more vitamin C than lettuce leaves. Lots of carotene and B vitamins, as well as potassium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. But there are very few calories (16 kcal per 100 g), so it can be safely recommended to supporters of a healthy diet. Peking is included in almost all weight loss diets.

Chinese cabbage is one of the leaders among green vegetables in terms of vitamin C content - 27 mg per 100 g! In addition, it is very important in the diet of heart patients and hypertensive patients due to the presence of large amounts of potassium.

WHAT IS THEY COOKED FROM BEIJING?

Chinese cabbage leaves are most often used to prepare a variety of salads, but there are other recipes. For example, they turn out very tasty and delicate. And in Asia they like to ferment Pekinka.

Strictly speaking, Chinese cabbage is somewhere between regular white cabbage and salads. Cabbage is a little tough for some, salads may not suit everyone due to their price (especially in winter!) - this is where Chinese cabbage comes in handy. Tender, crispy, it goes well with other vegetables, as well as poultry, seafood and cheese.

Wash the Chinese cabbage, dry it and cut it into thin strips.

Attention!

To ensure the salad tastes impeccable, be careful when choosing Chinese cabbage when purchasing.

The vegetable must demonstrate exceptional freshness to the buyer: the leaves must have a rich shade, without signs of lethargy or withering. Please note that the lighter the leaves of the vegetable, the juicier the Chinese cabbage. Green leaves are more fibrous.

To the touch, the head of cabbage should be elastic, moderately dense and not very loose. If possible, choose a medium-sized vegetable. A large head of cabbage usually has a yellowish tint, which indicates that the cabbage is overripe and the leaves have a low level of juiciness.

Refuse to purchase if you see signs of mucus and rotting on the leaves. Such a product will not only be tasteless, but also dangerous to health.

Wash the chicken fillet, dry it and cut into small pieces. To give additional softness, you can lightly beat the fillet with a hammer, or pierce it with a tenderizer.

Peel the sweet pepper pod from the stalk, remove the seed stalks with seeds, cut lengthwise into 2 parts, and then finely chop each half crosswise.

Sweet peppers retain their full vitamin content for a week after they are harvested. After this period, the vitamin content in the vegetable decreases by 50%. To determine how long ago the fruit was harvested, pay attention to the pod: it should be green, elastic, and not withered. The pepper should not have black spots or signs of rotting.

Wash the green onions and cut into thin rings.

Place the chicken fillet in a frying pan with heated oil and fry until lightly browned, then cool.

Combine fillet, cabbage, onion and pepper, sprinkle with pepper, salt to taste and season with remaining oil.

Stir Chinese cabbage salad with pepper until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

When serving, you can decorate the salad with herbs. If your taste lacks a slight sourness, sprinkle the salad with lemon juice. You can complement the dish with homemade rye crackers.
