Make a sofa for the kitchen with your hands. Do-it-yourself kitchen corner sofa

A do-it-yourself kitchen sofa is an opportunity to independently make such a piece of furniture that will have an ideal ratio of design, quality and price. When arranging a dining area in the kitchen, many are faced with a problem when store models do not fit into the dimensions of the kitchen. So, the sofa may look too bulky, or, conversely, unnecessary gaps remain during installation. In such cases, self-production will allow you to ideally fit upholstered furniture into the size of the kitchen, to make the place as comfortable and cozy as possible.

What to consider when choosing materials

The choice of a kitchen corner should be approached responsibly, because this piece of furniture is made for many years, and how comfortable and pleasant breakfast, lunch, evening tea will be depends on its appearance and convenience. In addition, making furniture on your own is to feel like a designer, to acquire a source of pride.

As for the upholstery, it is better to prefer synthetic materials, leatherette, because they are more practical: they retain their appearance much longer and are easy to clean. The material must be dirt-repellent, moisture-resistant, and withstand regular cleaning. The upholstery must be strong enough to support the weight of the people sitting on it.

  • Microfiber. Such fabric is durable, resistant to dirt, has a non-fading color. If a Teflon coating is present, the water droplets are not absorbed, but rolled over the surface.
  • Velours. It is not recommended to choose velor as an upholstery for upholstered kitchen furniture due to its impracticality. Although the cost of the material is low, food particles and liquid are easily eaten into the structure, and frequent washing and cleaning makes it unusable.
  • Flock. This material is an excellent choice for pet owners. Not only does no fur remain on it, but the marks from the claws are almost invisible. Flock is a durable, practical option for upholstery, requiring little maintenance.
  • Artificial leather. Resistant to temperature changes, suitable for frequent washing with detergents, does not fade.

  • Leather. The high cost of the material is offset by its durability, but skin care is not the most practical. It cannot be rubbed, because the cleaning site can change its shade, deform.

Before starting work, you need to prepare all the necessary tools and materials that will be required to make the sofa. For the frame, you can choose laminated chipboard, it has a number of advantages: an affordable price, a wide selection of shades, as well as resistance to high humidity.

Foam rubber or polyurethane foam is used to fill the backs and seats. To avoid deformation, the material must be sufficiently rigid.

The width of the seats should not exceed 40-45 cm, and the legs of the sofa should be under the vertical profile of the seat, otherwise there will be inconveniences when sitting at the dining table.

Materials and tools

To make a sofa for the kitchen with your own hands, you do not need serious professional skills and a large list of tools, it is enough to have detailed drawings and a little patience. Following the recommendations, you can easily make a beautiful, comfortable corner.

Would need:

  • electric jigsaw;
  • screws, dowels;
  • metal corners, hinges;
  • glue for attaching foam rubber;
  • upholstery material;
  • nichrome thread to make precise cuts in foam rubber;
  • thrust bearings;
  • edge for end processing;
  • foam rubber;
  • stapler, staples;
  • roulette;

It is imperative to remember that the material should be purchased with a margin. So, about 5% of the volume will go to waste.

It is important to find a comfortable seat height. To do this, you can take a chair or stool that is comfortable to sit on as a reference.

When choosing a soft corner, you should decide on the direction of the corner, they can be right-sided, left-sided. If necessary, in the future, the parties can be swapped. It should be noted that soft foam rubber seats are suitable for houses and apartments, and for verandas and summer kitchens it is better to make a corner with a hard seat.

It is necessary to first complete the drawings, noting all the dimensions, dimensions of the future sofa. This will help determine the amount of materials required.

As for the colors, there are a huge number of options. For example, if the family has small children or pets, light-colored fabric upholstery can quickly get dirty and will have to be cleaned frequently. Therefore, the beauty of the material must be combined with its practicality.

The high-quality design of the room consists in a harmonious combination of furniture and decor with the color of the walls, floor and ceiling. It is important that the parts of the interior look organic and have the same stylistic orientation.

Putting together the sofa

As an example, consider a corner with the following dimensions: height - 80 cm, length 100 cm, depth 40 cm. It consists of 3 parts: a long, short sofa, a connecting corner.

Long part of the shop:

  • Seat - 96x30 cm.
  • Backrest - 96x26 cm.
  • The front part of the niche is 96x31 cm.
  • Sidewalls - 80x40 cm.
  1. Taking into account the basic dimensions, width, height, depth, we make marks for milling. Then you should outline the holes for the screws and the joints with other parts. It is better to practice in advance on chipboard scraps.
  2. Using glue, we glue the edge to the sides, and fasten the thrust bearings to the lower ends with self-tapping screws.
  3. With the help of 2 sheets for the sidewalls and 1 for the bottom, we construct a niche. The bottom is made of plywood.
  4. To fix the lifting seat with metal hinges, you need a bar, its dimensions will be 96x100 cm.
  5. The thrust bar has dimensions of 96x60 cm, when measuring, 2 cm should be taken away. After all, it will be additionally covered with filler and upholstery.
  6. According to the measurements, the back is made, attached to the sidewalls with dowels.
  7. A persistent and upper strip is attached to the back.
  8. Next, we fix the corners. Wooden bars will be cheaper, but it is better to give preference to metal ones - they securely fix the structure.
  9. After the frame is assembled, you can proceed to upholstery and soften the seat, backrest. Foam rubber is set on glue, and the fabric is fixed with a stapler.

The short part of the bench is mounted in the same way as the long one. Its dimensions are:

  • Height - 80 cm.
  • Length - 60 cm.
  • Depth -40 cm.

The connecting part unites the long and short parts of the bench:

  • Length - 45 cm,
  • Height - 80 cm.

In order for the corner to fit tightly against the wall, you need to cut down sharp corners.

We attach the cut parts to each other using dowels or self-tapping screws. Next, we cut out the stop bar, combine it with the seat. After the seat and backrest are made, the side pieces can be attached. First, you should fix the details of the backrest, sidewalls with dowels and corners.

When the main structure is assembled, you can fix the foam rubber and cover the sofa with fabric. Thick foam rubber is cut with hot nichrome thread, so that high precision can be achieved.

Kitchen furniture should not only be beautiful, but also comfortable. According to sociologists, it is in the kitchen that people spend the lion's share of their free time. In the kitchen they relax, cook, dine, receive guests. Comfortable and functional furniture will make your time in this room comfortable and enjoyable.

One of the most common kitchen furniture items is the kitchen sofa. Appearing in kitchens in the second half of the last century, sofas have become quite popular. And this is not surprising. After all, it is much more comfortable to sit on a soft seat with your elbows on a comfortable back than on a hard stool. How to make a comfortable and practical homemade sofa - below.

Choosing the design of the future sofa

Before starting work on making a sofa with your own hands, you need to clearly understand what needs to be done. Form, color, functional tasks should be determined at the preparation stage. Of course, not everyone has the design ability to choose the right shape and color, but everyone can choose their favorite model and make the same, since there are quite a few of them in various furniture magazines.

The color of the kitchen sofa should match the overall color scheme of the entire room. The design and its dimensions are selected depending on the free space and location of the future product in the kitchen. It makes no sense to make a large and, at first glance, very comfortable sofa for the kitchen of 6 m 2, if because of it the room will not be too comfortable. When making furniture with your own hands, you need to choose less complex models. This way you can save on material and production time. As a rule, the simplest model is the strongest and most durable. If you have no experience, you should not tackle complex corner or folding structures, you need to start small.

Preparation of materials and tools

To assemble a simple sofa for the kitchen with your own hands, you need to purchase building material:

  1. The bar is wooden. The cross-section of the timber must be at least 50x50 mm. Only in this case can it withstand additional loads. Hardwoods are best for making a sofa. When choosing wood, you need to pay attention to its condition. The timber should not have knots, cracks, it should be normally dried. Particular attention must be paid to the knots. In the area where they are found, the tree has the lowest strength. Under increased load, such a bar can simply break.
  2. Metal fasteners. To assemble the frame of a wooden sofa for the kitchen, screws and confirmations are used. Confirmates differ from a screw in their thread and head shape, which is designed for a hex wrench.
  3. Plywood. Plywood is used for laying on the seat and backrest frame. Then it will serve as the basis for the soft upholstery of the sofa.
  4. Foam rubber for seat and backrest upholstery. Simple foam rubber is not very suitable for furniture upholstery. It quickly crumples up, forming dips. And since the kitchen sofa is used quite often, it will quickly become unusable with ordinary foam rubber. For these purposes, foam rubber with a density of at least 32 kg / m 3 is used. It retains its elasticity for a long time, even with frequent use.
  5. Upholstery fabric. It is better to use leatherette as the latter. The kitchen is a place of potential contamination. Food stains, grease, drinks, etc. able to transform a new beautiful sofa into a completely unattractive one in a few moments. If from the surface of leatherette most stains can be simply removed with a damp cloth, then it will be more problematic to do this from other fabrics. You can make a combination of different fabrics, however, this is troublesome and may not come out very beautifully.

To carry out these works, you will need the following tool:

  • Electric jigsaw.
  • Electric planer.
  • Drill.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Industrial stapler.
  • Screwdrivers, wrenches and hex keys, tape measure, square, pencil.

The process of making a simple sofa in the kitchen with your own hands

After preparing the drawing of the kitchen corner or sofa, as well as all the necessary materials, you can start working.

Conventionally, the assembly of a sofa for the kitchen can be divided into four main stages:

  1. Assembling the frame of the sofa. This is the most crucial step. Its strength and durability depend on how well it is made. The main parts of the frame will be three wooden frames. Two for the formation of the seat, one for the back. The frames are assembled from a bar and fastened with self-tapping screws. To give them additional strength, stiffeners from the same timber are installed, and the corners are additionally reinforced with furniture steel corners. The size of the frames depends on the size of the sofa itself.
  2. After completing the assembly of the frames, they begin to form the seat. For this, two frames are connected to each other using pieces of timber up to 200 mm long. There should be at least 8 such racks for a seat length of 2 m. They are connected with self-tapping screws. When twisting the latter, you must be careful not to split the timber. To do this, make a rough run with a drill with a diameter less than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. Then a self-tapping screw is screwed into the hole. In this case, the timber will not split. A sheet of plywood is laid on the surface of the seat. It is nailed to the base with nails. It is on the plywood that the foam rubber will fit for the upholstery of the sofa.
  3. After the seat frame is finished, the side posts are screwed to it. They will also function as handrails. The rear pillars are interconnected by a bar, which will act as a stop (support bar) for the back. The front and rear uprights on each side of the sofa are interconnected to form handrails.
  4. The last step is to install the back. On its frame, like on the seat, a sheet of plywood is stuffed and the whole structure is put in place. With the help of fasteners and corners, the backrest is attached to the seat and support bar.

After assembling the entire frame of the sofa, it needs to be finalized. The first step is to iron out any sharp edges that could cause the fabric to break. It is also worth treating the tree with an antiseptic and varnish, so that in conditions of high humidity in the kitchen it will serve longer. In addition, wood treated with varnish or stain looks quite attractive.

Do-it-yourself kitchen sofa upholstery

After the frame of the sofa is ready, it must be sheathed. This is done using high density foam rubber. There are two ways to make upholstery:

  1. To make removable covers for pillows, inside which pieces of foam rubber are installed. In this case, the soft part of the sofa will be removable. The pillows can be removed at any time if necessary. This option will cost a little more, since you still have to upholster the sofa frame, so the consumption of upholstery fabric will be much higher. In this case, you will have to sew the covers yourself or order in the atelier, which will entail additional costs.
  2. Make non-removable upholstery. To do this, the sofa is disassembled again and each detail is upholstered separately. First, the seat is upholstered. For this, foam rubber is placed on its surface. To prevent slipping, it is glued with 88 glue. When the glue is dry, you can start upholstery. For this, a piece of fabric or leatherette is cut out. It must be large enough to cover the top of the seat, the sides and have an overlap to secure the fabric at the rear.

The fabric is laid out on a flat surface, in the middle of the segment (so that the size of the overlap on each side is the same), the seat is laid face down. Then one side is carefully folded over and attached to the frame with a stapler. The step of the staples should be no more than 15-20 mm, in this case the fabric will hold tightly. Since the "seam" will be on the seamy side, staples need not be saved. As soon as the first side is secured, the second is stretched and also nailed with a stapler. Then the lateral sections of the tissue are folded. In this case, it is important to carefully form the corner of the fabric so that there are no visible wrinkles on it. Just as with the main sides, first one side is nailed, then the other is pulled and nailed. The back is upholstered in the same way.

After all the elements have been upholstered, the sofa is assembled again.

Not only foam rubber can be used as a substrate. In many cases, foam rubber or holofiber is used. The latter has a fairly good elasticity, despite its relatively small thickness. In addition, its service life is longer than that of foam rubber. However, the cost of holofiber is much higher.

Making a kitchen corner sofa with your own hands

If the area of the room does not allow placing a straight sofa, which is often found in old houses, where the kitchen barely exceeds 7 m 2, then it is better to make a corner model. As mentioned above, such sofas are more difficult to manufacture and require experience in such work. The corner structure of upholstered kitchen furniture consists of three main parts:

  • A short sofa.
  • Long sofa.
  • Corner module.

The production of short and long sofas is not fundamentally different from the process described above. The corner module can be different. One of the options, which is the simplest, is to install a connecting table. It is made of laminated chipboard and is attached to sofa handrails. However, in this case, the corner sector cannot be used for sitting. To make the corner suitable for human planting, a separate corner section is required.

DIY kitchen sofa: video

The peak of the widespread use of small kitchen sofas falls on the Soviet period and is regarded by experts as an attempt to equip the cramped kitchens of the Khrushchevs. Despite the fact that more free space is allocated to the kitchen share in modern apartments, their interior also has a place for a small sofa and a soft kitchen corner, the functionality and compact dimensions of which will save free space and make it as ergonomic as possible. In addition, in small apartments, a folding sofa bed or a kitchenette with a berth will be appropriate, thanks to which the issue of accommodating guests will be resolved. Quite often there are soft sofas in the kitchen, equipped with a storage box, which is also very convenient in the absence of free space. Speaking of kitchen nooks, the equipment of which includes a corner sofa, a set of stools and a table, it should be noted that increased loads are imposed on the sofas, and therefore, they are more likely to fail than other pieces of furniture and need reconstruction or replacement. If carrying out reconstructive measures is a solvable issue, then when it comes to replacement, one has to face the difficulties associated with the selection of an identical option. In such cases, the only way to solve the problem is to independently make a kitchen sofa for a small kitchen, and the detailed instructions given in our article will help you understand this issue.

The main types of sofas and their design features

In the process of choosing a sofa (or developing its design in the case of self-manufacturing), it is necessary to take into account not only its size and location, but also the parameters of the kitchen room, which directly affects the configuration of the future piece of furniture. There are two main constructive types of sofas:

  • Corner structures are characterized by high popularity due to the larger number of seats compared to straight designs. In addition, using corner sofas, you can make the most efficient use of the available free space;
  • Straight sofas- designs that should be paid attention to by lovers of the classics, as well as owners of small-sized kitchens. They are distinguished by their simplicity of design, and, therefore, you will not encounter difficulties in the process of repairing them and even making them yourself.

Additional possibilities when using kitchen sofas

In most cases, this piece of furniture is installed not only in order to diversify the interior of the kitchen with a sofa, but also to get additional functionality.

Let's consider them in more detail:

  • An additional bed, the organization of which in a small-sized kitchen will become a reality if you give preference to the popular convertible sofa.
  • This opportunity can be realized by a sofa in the kitchen with a sleeping place "Premier", equipped with a transformation mechanism "Dolphin", which involves pushing forward a large drawer and raising the berth. A narrow, straight kitchen sofa with a sleeping place "Premier", a distinctive feature of which is the presence of an ergonomic and soft back, adjustable in height, can easily turn into a folding sofa for the kitchen. Thanks to the new Dolphin transformation mechanism, you will forever forget about the problem of sagging seats when unfolded, and metal chrome legs with built-in wheels will forever save you from difficulties in the process of unfolding the structure.

  • Additional space for storing things needed in the household is provided by a sofa bench and frame structures equipped with drawers. If the sofa bench implies the presence of a folding seat, then in the second version we are talking about drawers located in the lower part of the structure;
  • The ability to combine modules that move (combine and disconnect) solely at your discretion. Thanks to this option, you can save free space in a small kitchen by installing kitchen furniture integrated into the sofa;
  • Presence of shelves or a rigid corner that can be used as a stand for kitchen utensils (kettle, coffee maker), cookbooks, flowers and children's crafts.

Development of a drawing of a sofa: what needs to be considered?

In view of the complexity of the task, the manufacture of a sofa for the kitchen must begin with the development of a drawing, in the process of creating which it is important to take into account a number of factors:

  • Dimensions of the sofa, both general and of each structural element;
  • Backrest angle;
  • If you plan to make a folding sofa for the kitchen, consider a mechanism for its transformation;
  • Think carefully and choose the most suitable, in your case, drawer extension mechanism or the principle of organizing compartments for storing things;
  • The material to be used for the upholstery of the seat, backrest, armrests and cushions, its thickness and rigidity;
  • The height of the legs.
  • In addition, try to at least approximately calculate the expected load on the future structure, which will subsequently allow you to take into account all the pitfalls and, if necessary, strengthen the frame elements.

Important! Due to the fact that a full-fledged drawing should reflect the main working units in all projections, it is important to have special drawing skills or knowledge of the corresponding computer programs.

Without specialized training in the development of drawings, you can use ready-made drawings, in a large number presented on the pages of construction sites. However, the standardized design must be modified taking into account all of the above factors and include three projections of the main modules. Due to the fact that the drawing of a particular structure is developed taking into account a certain load, it is not recommended to change its dimensions without preliminary recalculation of the load, which will have a negative effect on its strength and reliability.

If you plan to use ready-made drawings, the only thing you can change is the texture and color of the upholstery. At the same time, remember that even the use of another material is not encouraged, since the project is calculated for a seat and cushions with a certain stiffness.

What else should you pay attention to?

The specificity of the operation of kitchen sofas (increased possibility of pollution and a certain microclimate of the kitchen) dictates its own rules, and therefore, when choosing a narrow sofa for the kitchen, you need to pay attention to certain parameters:

1. Body material, despite the strict requirements, it can be quite diverse - wood, MDF, chipboard and even metal are used for the manufacture of the base. The most reliable is a frame made of carefully prepared natural wood, while the use of MDF and chipboard allows you to reduce the cost of the finished product and, at the same time, reduce its quality;

2. Upholstery material, which also has a number of requirements:

  • the ability not to absorb moisture and foreign odors;
  • the material must be dense and resistant to deformation;
  • should be easy to clean with most cleaning agents.

All these requirements are met by synthetic materials, which explains their prevalence in the manufacture of upholstery for kitchen sofas.

Important! Despite the durability of synthetic materials, they need additional protection. You can extend the life of the sofa upholstery by laying fabric seats on it, which are easy to make with your own hands and, if necessary, wash.

In addition to synthetic materials, leather can be used for the upholstery of the sofa, using which you create an atmosphere of luxury and sophistication in the kitchen.

Speaking about the pricing policy, the available materials can be divided into two segments:

  • jacquard - a material that is resistant to ultraviolet radiation and abrasion, due to the high density of threads;
  • velor - a velvety fabric prone to rapid abrasion;
  • cotton - a material from natural raw materials used in anchor models in the manufacture of pillows;
  • tapestry - a woven material made from natural raw materials and with high wear resistance;
  • chenille is an undemanding textile made from fluffy threads that create a specific texture of the material;
  • microfiber is a high-strength fabric, a distinctive feature of which is the presence of Teflon impregnation.

3. Filler, which is used as foam rubber of various thicknesses. Despite the popularity of foam rubber, it has competitors that are not inferior in characteristics to it - holofiber, molded polyurethane foam, batting, latex and felt.

Important! The multi-layered filler used in the stuffing of sofas contributes to the creation of an orthopedic effect and extends the service life.

4. Fasteners used in the manufacture of small corner sofas for the kitchen must have increased strength, since the products used in the kitchen must withstand high loads. The requirements for the quality of fasteners increase even more if you plan to make a folding sofa.

5. Mechanism selection- an important parameter that must be taken into account if you plan to make a folding sofa bed for the kitchen with a sleeping place. At the moment, there are the following types of mechanisms:

  • Draw-out mechanism - the easiest way to unfold the sofa. Structures equipped with this mechanism are laid out by rolling out the lower block and can be made by hand;
  • Book - the most common sofa folding option. Constructions equipped with this mechanism are characterized by maximum compactness and ease of manufacture;
  • Dolphin - one of the easiest ways to unfold the sofa, which involves pulling out the lower sofa block;
  • Click-gag , the essence of which is reminiscent of the "book" mechanism, is suitable for small rooms. For sofas equipped with this mechanism, the side parts can be raised and lowered, which will make the structure even more compact;
  • Accordion - the most optimal option for small rooms in which it is necessary to place compact furniture with a sleeping place. To unfold a sofa equipped with this mechanism, it is necessary to push the seat forward and lay the backrest on the berth.

Materials and tools needed to make a corner sofa

Despite the fact that it is quite easy to make straight kitchen sofas ourselves, in our article we will give an algorithm for making a corner sofa.

After you develop a drawing and a general plan for making a compact kitchen sofa, prepare the necessary materials and tools.

From the materials you will need the following:

  • Coniferous timber in an amount depending on the size of the planned product, with a section size of 30x50 or 50x50 mm. Before use, it must be treated with an antiseptic;
  • Chipboard (laminated material must be preferred), plywood, preferably birch;
  • If you plan to make a sofa for the kitchen with a drawer, you will additionally need fiberboard for the bottoms of the drawers;
  • Sofa legs - at least 9 pieces;
  • Lifting or transformation mechanism - must be purchased in advance in a specialized store, taking into account the loads calculated in accordance with the project. If you will be installing a sofa with drawers, you will also need roller mechanisms;
  • Soft filler - it can be synthetic winterizer, holofiber, foam rubber and foam crumbs. Also, experts recommend using a non-woven material like agrotextile, which is laid, for example, foam rubber, which will prevent abrasion of the soft filler;
  • Upholstery and threads;
  • Fastening material - screws, screws and nails;
  • Various types of glue.

Important! You can cut out the parts yourself or order the cutting of sheet material in a hardware store that provides similar services. If you leave this work to specialists, they will not only cut out parts faster and better, but will also process their edges using powerful tools.

The list of tools includes not only mechanical, but also electrical mechanisms, using which you can not only drag the old sofa, but also make the structure from scratch. It includes:

  • Screwdriver and electric drill;
  • Hacksaw for wood or hand saw, miter box;
  • A sewing machine, necessary for sewing covers and processing the edges of the material;
  • Furniture stapler used for upholstery.

How to make a corner sofa in the kitchen: step by step instructions

To begin with, let's present a general scheme for assembling a corner sofa:

  • Assembly of armrests from timber, fiberboard and foam rubber (if soft upholstery is planned). At the same time, remember that paired parts are not the same - they are mirror images of each other;
  • Installation of the frame of the left and right parts. Depending on the design characteristics of the model, the corner module is included in the structure of one of the parts;
  • The choice of upholstery and upholstery.

The algorithm presented in the article involves the manufacture of a soft corner sofa. Note that, first of all, a frame product is made, which is subsequently turned into a soft one.

  • The first point is the manufacture of armrests, i.e. side parts of the structure. As for the sizes, they are typical - width - 20 cm, height - 55 cm (without legs), length - 90 cm.
  • First of all, a base is cut out of chipboard in accordance with the dimensions of the sidewall, from above and below, using screws, wooden blocks are fixed along the length with a step of 20 cm.The diameter of the hole for fasteners should be 3 mm, and the screw or self-tapping screw is screwed in the direction from the chipboard to bar;
  • Next, the top and bottom of the armrest are cut out of the chipboard in accordance with the dimensions in the drawing and fixed on wooden slats. In the upper and lower parts of the sidewalls, 3 support bars are installed and fixed, as a result of which a kind of box with one sidewall, top, bottom and open front wall with vertical elements is obtained;

  • The remaining parts of the box are similarly cut out of the chipboard and fixed with nails in increments of 10-15 cm. To increase the reliability of the structure, the fasteners are duplicated with glue;
  • On the inside of the side part, where the seat will be located, fix a chipboard lining;
  • All sides, with the exception of the back and the one where the pad is located, are pasted over with foam rubber 2 cm thick;
  • The second armrest is made in a similar way, not forgetting that it is a mirror image of the previous one.
  • The next stage is the production of the main part. It starts with cutting out the side of the seat frame and backrest, the design of which is more complex, since it is necessary to take into account the angle of its inclination. To fasten these elements, a piece of plywood is used and the parts are fixed in such a way that the back of the seam remains unobstructed;
  • Next, cut out similar parts that will be a mirror image of the previous ones and fasten them in the same way;

  • A vertical beam is screwed to the sidewalls made in accordance with the first paragraph, which will overlap the part of the seam that remains uncovered, then three transverse beams are fixed to the end parts of the side parts on the back of the future sofa;
  • The front beam, which will connect the upper corners of the seat, is temporarily fixed with one screw;
  • Next, the rear wall is reinforced with two vertical bars;
  • The frame for the inclined part of the back is assembled - it includes two vertical slats and a support frame. The fragment should be inserted at an angle, as a result of which, for a more tight adhesion to the structural parts, it is necessary to correct the shape of the longitudinal bars;
  • The vertical bars of the inclined and rear straight parts are pulled together with the help of rails;

  • Next, the seat support frame is assembled. The two longest elements are selected and the overlays are fixed on them, and then the frame is assembled and reinforced with three transverse bars;
  • The assembled frame must fit tightly into the finished frame, for which it is necessary to loosen the temporary fastening on the front beam, insert the frame and tighten the screws;
  • For the manufacture of the seat, plywood with a thickness of 8 mm is used. If you plan to use a thick fabric, such as synthetic leather, for the seat upholstery, ventilation holes must be made in the plywood every 30 cm. Installation of the seat is carried out only after pasting it with foam rubber, padding polyester and upholstery with fabric;

  • A corresponding fragment of fiberboard is fixed to the side of the back, after which the seat and back are pasted over with foam rubber in two layers: the thickness of the first layer is 4 cm, the thickness of the second is 2 cm;
  • For the lower part of the seat, it is necessary to assemble the drawers - parts made of chipboard, which are installed after the upholstery;
  • The frame of the back of the back is reinforced with corner slopes. If the sofa will be placed in the center of the room, the back is covered with chipboard.

  • The assembly of the right-hand side, which includes the corner module, is somewhat more complicated. It is carried out in a similar way:
  • First, the side parts are cut out - the upper and lower part of chipboard, which are then fastened with plywood and a wooden beam. All blanks are mounted on a frame made of timber, after which, in accordance with the drawing, they are reinforced with wooden bars.
  • The final stage is cutting the fabric and upholstery of the sofa with fabric.
  • Before starting the upholstery work, measure the parameters of all parts and take into account the seam allowances, as well as the softness and splendor of the seat at least 1 cm.

  • Before upholstery, each element of the sofa is wrapped with padding polyester, which will prevent wear of the foam rubber and increase the splendor of the seat and back. On the armrests, the synthetic winterizer is replaced with agrotextile.

The ability to make furniture in-house is an advantage.

The corner sofa has become the most popular furniture in the kitchen

Canmake a corner sofa in the kitchen with your own handswith individual dimensions, which will smoothly fit into the interior of the kitchen. Upholstered kitchen corners are characterized by functionality and convenience. A headset like this saves space. If you make a sofa yourself, then this option will cost half the price of a store product.

Features of corner structures for the kitchen area

A corner sofa in the kitchen is considered the best solution for a small apartment. At the same time, a cooking area and a small dining room are located on a small area.

This design is equipped with convenient storage spaces that are located under the seat. In addition to the upholstered sofa, the set includes a table that can be of any shape. Such furniture sets are stationary and sliding.

The main criteria for choosing a product are the size of the kitchen and the number of family members. The following factors are also taken into account:

  1. The angle of inclination of the sofa back.
  2. Dimensions of the structure and individual elements.
  3. If we make a folding sofa with our own hands, then the layout mechanism is determined.
