Technology for installing and connecting a water heater at the dacha. How to connect a storage water heater in an apartment? Connection diagram for a boiler in a private house

In some cases, a boiler or autonomous heating boiler is an indispensable piece of equipment in the water supply system of a house or apartment. possible if your home has only cold water pipelines, and also as backup equipment to compensate for interruptions in the supply of hot water.

In addition, using electric is a more economical way to organize hot water supply. This happens if hot water tariffs significantly exceed the cost of heating water with a boiler. A good home owner should know how to independently connect the boiler to the water supply.

Main types of heating boilers

Nowadays, a wide range of water heating devices – boilers – are available for sale in online stores and household goods supermarkets. In order to understand which device will be most optimal for your home, you need to know the main varieties.

The main parameter by which boilers differ is their type.

  1. The boiler may be cumulative, that is, it is a tank with a heating element. Such a device takes in a fairly large volume of water, which is heated by a heating element. Subsequently, hot water is used as needed. Heating water in such a device takes some time.
  2. Flow-through The boiler heats the water directly in the pipe and it becomes available for use immediately after opening the tap.

They may also differ in heat source.

  1. Electrical equipment contains a heating element that operates from a household electrical network.
  2. Gas equipment works on the thermal energy of the flame. Such equipment is much more economical than electrical equipment.

Connecting a gas boiler to mains is usually carried out by certified specialists. In any case, after installing such a device, you will have to obtain permission to operate it from the gas supply organization.

A boiler with electric heating can also be connected independently. The operating principle of this device is practically no different from a regular household kettle, so there should not be any special problems during its installation.

The most common model of electrically heated boilers are storage devices. Let's consider the procedure for connecting them to the water supply network.

Getting ready to connect an electric boiler

At the initial stage of connecting an electric boiler, you need to perform the following work:

An electric boiler has a heating element (heating element) of high power (usually about 2 kilowatts). To avoid damage to the wiring, it must be connected to the distribution panel via a cable with a large cross-section. It is advisable to use copper power supply wires.

To install an electric storage boiler yourself, you will need the following tools and materials:

  1. measuring ruler or tape measure, building level;
  2. hammer drill or impact drill with a set of drills;
  3. keys for installing connecting elements. It is advisable to use an adjustable wrench and pliers;
  4. tees-fittings will be required for insertion into water supply pipelines;
  5. installation of the boiler involves the installation of shut-off valves on the inlet pipes;
  6. to ensure the tightness of the connecting elements, purchase sealing tape, tow or paste;
  7. water is taken and drained directly into the boiler using flexible connecting hoses;
  8. You may need pipes to install an additional water supply line. Please note that not all pipes can handle hot water. When purchasing, carefully check their specifications.

Self-installation of an electric boiler

The algorithm for connecting a storage electric boiler involves performing the following work:

  • installation of shut-off valves on the inlet and outlet pipelines;
  • installation of a check valve;
  • installation of a water outlet system from the boiler.

However, the installation procedure may differ slightly depending on what pipes are used in your water supply system. Let's look at how to connect a boiler to pipes made of polypropylene, metal-plastic or metal pipelines.

We connect the storage boiler to polypropylene pipes

To install fittings and taps for polypropylene pipes, you will need the following tools:

  • soldering device for this type of pipe;
  • pipe cutter

In addition, purchase tees for this type of pipe and shut-off valves.

Also, to connect polypropylene pipes you will need MPH type couplings.

Connection, sequence

  1. Shut off the water supply pipelines.
  2. Make a cut in the polypropylene pipes at the selected location and, if necessary, connect the outlet to the installation site of the storage boiler.
  3. Solder tees into the places of the cuts.
  4. Connect extension pipelines to the tees.
  5. Install the MRN coupling on the pipeline bends.
  6. Attach a shut-off valve to the MPH coupling.
  7. Lay flexible connecting hoses from the shut-off valve to the boiler, or connect the shut-off valves directly to the boiler pipes.

Installation looks quite simple if there is easy access to polypropylene pipes. If you have them laid in grooves and walled up, you will have to act in a special order.

  1. Turn off the water.
  2. Chisel the coating over the pipes.
  3. Cut the polypropylene pipe.
  4. Cut the tee into the pipe using a detachable repair coupling (American). The section of the coupling with polypropylene is soldered to the tee, and the threaded end is soldered to the cut in the water supply.
  5. After fixing the connection, remove the detachable coupling and carry out further installation as described above.

We connect the electric storage boiler to the metal-plastic water supply

Connecting an electric storage boiler is simpler than installing a heater in a polypropylene water supply. This is due to the fact that metal-plastic pipelines are laid exclusively on the surface of the walls and floor of the room.

All connecting elements in a water supply system made of metal-plastic pipes are made on the basis of fittings.

So, to connect a storage heater to a metal-plastic water supply system, you must do the following:

  1. shut off water supply pipelines;
  2. cut metal-plastic pipes with a pipe cutter;
  3. install tees into pipe cuts;
  4. Insert either additional sections of metal-plastic pipes into the tee branches, or immediately connect flexible supply hoses after the shut-off valves.

We connect the storage boiler to a water supply system made of steel pipes

Installation of an electric storage boiler to a water supply system made of steel pipes. However, the existing range of devices for metal water pipes will solve this problem without complex welding work. For this, a “vampire” tee is used, which is installed directly on the surface of the steel pipe. Using such devices, you can connect not only a heating boiler, but also a washing machine, dishwasher and other devices to a metal water supply without welding.

The “vampire” tee is a metal clamp, on the side of which there is a pipe with a pre-cut thread.

The tee is fixed on the outer surface of the metal pipe, cleared of paint and dirt, through a rubber backing and clamped with fixing screws.

After installing the tee using a metal drill using a protective sleeve, a hole is drilled through the pipe in the side surface of the pipe. Naturally, all work is carried out with the water supply shut off.

After this, a shut-off valve is screwed into the thread, and onto it - a flexible underwater hose to the boiler or other equipment.

Installation of shut-off valves during installation

When installing an electric storage boiler, you should know some features of installing shut-off valves. In a cold pipeline, installation of elements, starting from the inlet pipe of the heating boiler, is carried out in the following sequence:

  • tee;
  • tap for draining water from the container to the side outlet of the tee;
  • a check valve is installed on the second outlet of the tee to prevent the reverse flow of water;
  • shut-off valves are installed after the check valve;
  • shut-off valves are connected to the cold water supply pipeline;
  • in some cases, a reducer is additionally installed on this line, which reduces the water pressure in the cold pipeline to one acceptable for boiler operation.

However, to prevent damage to water taps, it is better to install such a device directly on the outlet from the main water supply line.

Only one shut-off valve is installed in a hot pipeline.

Connecting a flow-through electric boiler

An instantaneous electric water heater is mounted directly into a branch of the pipeline intended for hot water supply.

  1. The water supply is cut off.
  2. A rupture is made in the section of the pipeline intended for insertion of the flow accumulator.
  3. Shut-off valves are installed at the ends of the breaks. In the future, this will make it possible to dismantle the flow-through heater for repairs without completely shutting off the water supply.
  4. The inlet and outlet pipes of the instantaneous water heater are connected by flexible underwater hoses to the shut-off valves.

Please note that when dismantling the heating device, first close the shut-off valve on the inlet pipe, and then on the outlet. Also, when using an instantaneous water heater, the water is turned on first, and only then the heater is turned on. When there is no longer a need for hot water, the power supply is first turned off, and only then the water is turned off.

As you can see, the procedure for installing a heating system yourself should not cause any special problems. Before working with pipes, you can first practice on pipe scraps. This way you will get better at it and avoid annoying mistakes.

Video - How to connect a boiler to a water supply

A boiler is a device that provides heating of tap water in an apartment. It is used quite often, as it is easy to use, effective and absolutely safe for humans. To start using hot water, you need to connect the boiler correctly. This procedure is complex, but if you follow the instructions, you can do it yourself.

Operating a boiler is not as difficult as connecting it

General information

Before connecting the boiler to the water supply in the apartment, it is necessary to study its structure in detail. There are many models on the market, you can choose the option for a specific case.

Water heater device

To properly connect a water heater to a water supply, you need to know what it consists of. Each of its parts performs one or another function that ensures the normal operation of the entire device.

The water heater consists of the following main parts:

  1. Water taps. Thanks to these simple details, it becomes possible to freely open or close the flow of water into the tank of the device. In addition, they are used to drain the remaining liquid. The taps should always be kept open when the boiler is operating, and closed when the device is not in use.
  2. Inlet taps. They are installed on the water supply system through which water flows to the consumer. With their help, you can shut off the water supply to the apartment, which is very important in the event of an emergency.

The boiler will help create comfortable conditions in your home
  1. Check valve. This is one of the most important elements of the system, which is used to protect the heating element of an electric water heater from excessive temperatures. This is especially important when the cold water supply to the tank has been turned off.
  2. Drain valve. This special tap is designed to empty the electric boiler tank. They are used only if there is a need to disassemble the device. Thanks to the valve, all the water in the tank can be safely drained into the sewer, which will prevent it from leaking out and flooding the neighbors. During installation, it is necessary to install the drain valve above the check valve. Otherwise, it will be impossible to get rid of the water in the tank.
  3. Heating elements. These design parts provide heating for the cold liquid that enters the boiler tank. As a rule, they are very powerful, so before purchasing a water heater you should consider the capabilities of the wiring installed in the apartment.
  4. Safety device. It is not included in the package of every device, so it is better to give preference to those boilers that have this component. The device will help turn off water heating in the event of an emergency.

In this video we will look at installing a water heater:

Popular types

The connection diagram of the water heater to the water supply provides for the use of only those devices that are ideal for the room. To make it easier for consumers to choose, all devices were divided into types according to different criteria.

Based on the type of energy used, the following are distinguished:

  1. Gas. Such a device is considered the most profitable from an economic point of view. It is not recommended to install it yourself, since all work related to gas should be entrusted to qualified specialists who have the appropriate official permit.
  2. Electrical. This option is more expensive, but less complicated. The installation of such a boiler can be completed in the shortest possible time and without the involvement of professionals. Because of this feature, electric water heaters are especially popular among consumers.
  3. Wood-burning (“Titans”). They are used extremely rarely, as they require large expenses for the purchase of solid fuel.

In addition, water heating devices are divided according to their operating principle. Among them are the following:

  1. Cumulative. These boilers take up quite a lot of space in the room, as they are of impressive size. Their voluminous tank is very convenient not only for a city apartment, but also for a summer cottage. The connection diagram for a storage water heater to a water supply system involves the use of a low-power heating element. Because of this, energy costs are significantly reduced, but the water heating time increases. The latter indicator depends not only on the power of the heating element, but also on the volume of the tank. Some modern devices are equipped with automatic control of liquid temperature. When it cools below the set value, the heating is turned on again and the selected temperature is maintained. The design is ideal for rooms where a large number of people live.
  2. Flow-through. The main advantage of this water heater is the possibility of constant access to heated liquid. This model will not take up much free space, which is very important when installing the device in small rooms. In addition, the device heats water almost instantly. Among the disadvantages, we can only highlight the presence of restrictions on heating temperature and high energy costs.

Self-installation

There are several options for connecting a water heater to the water supply in an apartment. The installation scheme can be chosen arbitrarily based on the available materials and the availability of free space.

To simplify the work of connecting an electric water heater as much as possible, you need to first prepare all the necessary materials and tools. Not only the success of the event, but also the speed of its implementation will depend on their quality.

Installing a boiler is not an easy task, so do not hesitate to ask the experts for help

During work you may need the following items:

  • metal ruler, tape measure or any other available measuring instrument;
  • impact tool with a set of drills (you can use a special drill equipped with an impact function, or a hammer drill);
  • mounting keys and pliers;
  • fasteners for fixing the boiler to the wall (anchors, brackets);
  • fittings that are intended for installation in water supply;
  • shut-off valves installed at the entrance to the device and allowing instant shutdown;
  • flexible hoses of different diameters and lengths;
  • tow, special tape and other materials that ensure the tightness of the connection.

Other tools may be added to this list. Their set must be compiled based on the existing conditions and assigned tasks.

Basic rules for connection

To install a boiler yourself, you need to follow several basic rules. They will help you avoid most mistakes and complete the job with the highest quality possible.

General installation rules:

  1. It is necessary to ensure the possibility of shutting off the water supply to the apartment.
  2. All branches that go to the boiler must be equipped with shut-off valves.
  3. In order for the device to function normally over a long period, it is necessary to install water filters. They will protect the device from any contamination and make the water cleaner.
  4. It is important to provide for the installation of a drain valve. It is connected to the section of pipe between the safety valve and the inlet to the tank.
  5. To simplify installation, you need to purchase various types of fittings in advance.

Mandatory conditions include the installation of a security system. It consists of a safety and check valve and ensures that the device is turned off in the event of an emergency or breakdown.

With iron pipes

Most apartment buildings have standard iron pipes. They have a number of positive characteristics, but significantly complicate the process of connecting the boiler. For this operation, you can either use welding (welding an adapter with a cut thread) or do without it (a “vampire” adapter). The second option is more preferable, as it allows you to achieve the desired result much faster and easier.

Installation is performed as follows:

  1. The selected place for insertion is carefully cleaned from the layer of paint and rust.
  2. The adapter is located on the riser using rubber gaskets and is securely fastened with bolts.
  3. The water supply is shut off, and the remaining liquid is carefully drained.
  4. A metal pipe is drilled through the central hole in the adapter.
  5. The tap is screwed on and all the necessary elements are connected.

To the metal-plastic water pipeline

This type of connection is considered the simplest and fastest due to the features of metal-plastic pipes, which bend well and hold the desired shape. A wide variety of compression fittings are used to connect parts.

Step-by-step instructions for connection:

  1. A blank of the required length is cut from the metal-plastic pipe.
  2. The location for tapping into the water supply system is carefully selected. In this case, it is important to take into account not the entire size of the tee, but only that part of it that will not go into the connection.
  3. The required piece of pipe is cut from the water pipeline. This can be done using special scissors or any available materials. The main thing is that the cut is as smooth and neat as possible.
  4. All additional parts (fixation rings, nuts) are removed from the tee, and the ends are put on the pipe.
  5. Then the edges are flared using a special calibrator or an ordinary screwdriver.
  6. The tee is inserted all the way, the fixation rings are moved, and the nuts are tightened with a suitable wrench.

Using polypropylene parts

Before you begin installing the boiler, you need to prepare all the necessary tools. Among them should be: a soldering iron, scissors for cutting plastic water conduits, adapters and tees, as well as corners.

Once all preparations have been completed, installation can begin. Wherein The following procedure should be followed:

  1. A suitable location on the pipe is selected.
  2. Then a certain area is cut out. Its width should be 2 centimeters less than the size of the tee.
  3. A preheated soldering iron is used to heat the pipe and fitting.
  4. Once the parts reach the desired temperature, they are connected. In this case, it is very important to avoid rotations and displacements, otherwise the likelihood of breaking the tightness of the connection increases.
  5. Using pipe sections of different sizes and angles, connections to the boiler are made.
  6. A threaded coupling is placed at the edges, and all parts are securely fixed.

Working with the device

Regardless of the type of device selected, its connection will be made according to the standard scheme.

This work must be carried out as carefully and carefully as possible in order to prevent even the slightest mistake.

Installation of the boiler is carried out as follows:

  1. The selected sealing material is wound around the pipes, which are located at the bottom of the tank.
  2. Tees are screwed to them. This work is best done with an adjustable wrench.
  3. Then taps designed to drain water are connected to the tees.
  4. After this, a safety valve is installed.
  5. A shut-off valve is installed on the hot water supply line.
  6. Cold water is supplied and pipes are laid to drain hot water.
  7. The electric water heater is connected to the network according to the selected electrical circuit.

Connecting a boiler is a rather difficult job that requires significant financial and time costs. If you carry it out correctly and follow all the recommendations of professionals, you can significantly simplify the process and complete the task in the shortest possible time.

Regular shutdowns of hot water, which usually occur during the hottest time of the year, make many of us think about buying a heating tank (boiler). Before making a final decision (even before going to the store), it is advisable to familiarize yourself with the features of this equipment and understand how the water heating tank is connected.

Let us immediately note that before purchasing a water heater, you must decide on the model of this device that is suitable for your conditions.

If gas is already supplied to your house or apartment, then preference should be given to a heater that runs on gas fuel. Otherwise, it is best to purchase an electric boiler, in which the water is heated using electrical appliances built into it - heating elements.

Measures for arranging a water heater

  • installation of the device at the place of its permanent operation;
  • connection to the water supply main;
  • connection to the electrical network or to the gas main (depending on the type of heater you choose).

The boiler is traditionally installed in the bathroom not far from the central (main) riser, which allows you to obtain the required pressure of water circulating in it. The place of its attachment is usually chosen to be a solid wall that can withstand the weight of a tank filled with water. Sometimes the water heater is mounted above the toilet tank, as long as it does not interfere with visitors. Once the issue of where to mount the boiler has been decided, you can proceed to its installation.

To install a water heating tank you will need the following set of tools:

  • hammer drill with drill or impact drill;
  • building level;
  • hammer, adjustable wrench and pliers;
  • special soldering iron for pipes;
  • screwdriver.

The water heater kit should include special fasteners and a bar with which it can be hung in the location of your choice. The exact position of the device is set using a building level.

The process of connecting a water heating tank includes two stages and involves connecting pipes from the water supply main and connecting to the electrical network (to the gas main).

Video material on installing an electric boiler:

Connecting the boiler to the water supply

When deciding how to connect a water heating tank to a water supply system, it is advisable to use pipes rather than hoses, since the wear of the latter threatens inevitable flooding of the neighbors below. The material and installation dimensions of these pipes must match the corresponding characteristics of the elements of the existing water supply network in your apartment, which will allow you to save on adapters.

The boiler must, in addition, be equipped with special shut-off valves (ball valves installed at the inlet and outlet of the water channel), which allow it to be disconnected from the water supply system for the period of conservation. Don't forget to also install a relief check valve, which protects the tank from excess internal pressure and prevents it from being completely dry. Without this valve, heating elements (heating elements) switched on “dry” can simply burn out.

The discharge hole of the check valve is connected directly to the drainage system using a special thin tube (outwardly resembling a dropper), which is attached to the pipe that drains excess water. The second end of this tube can be inserted either into the toilet tank or directly into the sewer system pipe. It is recommended to install a fine water filter at the cold water inlet to prevent foreign contaminants from entering the system.

It is advisable to disconnect completely from the hot water supply riser. If the hot water is turned off only for a short time, you should make sure that the valve located on the hot water outlet is tight and is closed while the boiler is operating.

Now let’s look in more detail at the general diagram of connecting the boiler to the water supply network:

  1. The cold water channel is connected in the direction from the pipe to the water heater (i.e. from bottom to top).
  2. First, a tap is soldered onto the pipe using a special soldering device, and then a plastic-to-nut adapter is installed in the same way.
  3. A check valve is installed behind it, preventing water from leaking from the device and releasing it back at high pressure. The check valve body is fixed directly to the inlet to the boiler.
  4. At the outlet of the water heater, a “nut-to-plastic” adapter is installed, which is connected to the tap; in this case, the tap itself is connected to a pipe leading to the hot water distribution system.

Video

Video review of electrical boiler connection elements:

In many cases, the boiler acts as an indispensable equipment built into the water supply system. Its installation is advisable in two cases: if there is only a cold water supply and if there is hot water that is supplied irregularly.

There is often a situation where installing a boiler is a more profitable way to provide hot water than using a central hot water supply. In many localities, water tariffs are very high, which leads to a similar situation.

Water heater installed in the apartment

There are currently a wide variety of water heating devices on the market. The main indicator by which the choice should be made is the type of device. There are storage and flow boilers. The first type looks like a large tank in which a heating element is installed. This allows you to provide a significant amount of hot water.

As consumption occurs, the tank is replenished and heated. However, if the water is completely used up, then heating new water will take some time. The instantaneous boiler is smaller in size. The question of how to connect a boiler to a water supply is simpler for him - the device is placed on the pipe and works immediately after opening the tap.

Another parameter by which devices can be classified is the heat source. The majority of boilers run on electricity; it is simpler and safer. However, energy costs can be high. Gas equipment is more difficult to install, however, its operating costs are lower. Certified specialists are required to install a gas heating device. This is the only way to obtain an operating permit, which is issued by the government organization supplying gas.

You can connect the hot water boiler yourself, since the device works in the same way as a regular electric kettle. It is more difficult to integrate a boiler into the plumbing system. And if for flow-through devices this usually does not arise problems, then When installing storage boilers, you should follow the instructions.

Connection diagram for an electric storage boiler

Before directly connecting the boiler to the water supply system, you should perform the following steps:

Connection diagram for storage water heater

  • Select installation location . It is recommended to choose a location where access to the connecting elements will be provided. They often fail and require periodic maintenance, so easy access to them will facilitate many works during operation.
  • Find a solid foundation . A domestic boiler can weigh more than 100 kg. The wall on which the boiler will be mounted must be strong enough. Otherwise, a supporting structure will be required.
  • Proximity of water supply pipes . If they are nearby, then this will simplify installation. Otherwise, there is a need for an additional pipeline.

The electric boiler is equipped with a heating element. To ensure fast heating, it usually has more power. Therefore, you should consider the electrical connection in advance.. It is necessary to calculate what cross-section of wire is required to provide the device with energy.

When it comes to the question of how to properly connect a boiler to a water supply system, work should be carried out in the following sequence:

  • Installation of shut-off valves.
  • Installation of a check valve.
  • Installation of outgoing system.

The algorithm depends on the pipe material - plastic or steel. It is much easier to connect to plastic pipes. To work with plastic pipes you will need a soldering device. Connections to steel pipes often require welding. In plastic pipes, installation is carried out using tees and couplings. Metal-plastic pipes are connected with fittings.

Connections to steel pipes can be made without welding. For this, a tee is used, popularly called “vampire”. It is a wide clamp, the side of which has a threaded pipe. The tee is fastened to a clean surface of the pipe. The connection is sealed with rubber backings and secured with screws. After this, a hole is drilled in the pipe. A stopcock with a flexible hose is screwed into the pipe.

Installation of instantaneous electric boiler

For the question of how to connect a instantaneous water heater, there are the following instructions:

Connection diagram for instantaneous water heater

  1. Shutdown of water supply.
  2. Making a cut at the required location in the pipeline.
  3. Installation of shut-off valves. This allows you to dismantle the boiler for maintenance or repair without cutting off the water supply.
  4. Connecting the inlet and outlet pipes of the heater with shut-off valves using flexible hoses.

Conclusion

Since there are many boilers of various designs on the modern market, it is quite difficult to write a universal installation diagram.

The most important point of the instructions is the need for grounding. Unfortunately, this point is often ignored. Water and electricity are a rather dangerous combination. To protect yourself from electric shock, you must carefully follow the instructions. In addition to grounding, a residual current device is often required.

How to connect a water heater to a water supply - an overview of options

Installing a water heater will help solve the problem with hot water not only in a country house, but also in an apartment.

Currently, manufacturers offer several types of different water heaters, each of which can be installed both in a country house and in an apartment in the bathroom.

As a rule, the most commonly used electric water heater today is either storage type or instantaneous.

Both types of devices have specific features in their operation, but in any case, each unit, if connected correctly, can supply hot water to the tap and shower at the same time.

The operation scheme of any type of electric water heater is based on the conversion of current energy into heat, which means that both the storage and flow-through devices must have a heating element.

In any case, if you have a connection diagram at hand, then all the required tools and consumables, installation of any type of heater in a country house or in an apartment in the bathroom can be done with your own hands.

How to install a water heater in the bathroom to simultaneously supply hot water to the tap and shower is described in the video posted in our article.

Mounting and installation features

Installation of both storage and flow-through types of heaters, with the right approach to the matter, can be done with your own hands both in the bathroom in an apartment and in a country house.

Of course, in order to do all the work correctly, you must have minimal plumbing skills and know the operating principle of the selected water heater.

When installing the unit, you should not rush, as you may miss any detail, as a result of which there is a risk that the connection diagram will be disrupted and the device will not work correctly.

Installing a water heater with your own hands will allow you to save significant money on calling a specialist and will give you the opportunity to gain experience in performing this type of work.

Installation of a water heater, regardless of its type, is carried out according to certain rules, taking into account safety standards.

Before you start installing a water heating device in a bathroom in an apartment or in a country house, you need to think through every little detail.

You should choose the right place where it will be located.

The device itself must be provided with free access not only at the time of its installation, but also during the entire period of subsequent operation.

In addition, you should pay attention to the surface of the wall on which the device itself will be placed. It must easily support the weight of the device and have a flat surface.

You should also pay attention to the condition of the wiring. For an electric water heater, the quality and condition of the wires plays an important role and is the key to safe operation.

In addition, it is necessary to check the condition of all pipes and risers in the apartment or country house and, if necessary, replace them.

A diagram of the entire connection should be at hand, which should also indicate the distribution of pipes to the shower and faucet.

Device selection

Currently, specialized stores offer a huge selection of water heaters of various types, but people are designed in such a way that they are always looking for a device that will have high quality and an affordable price at the same time.

In this case, an excellent choice would be Termex brand units, which are presented in a wide range.

Termex storage devices are distinguished not only by their ease of installation, but also by their reliable design. Termex can be easily installed both in the bathroom in an apartment and in a country house.

In addition, installation of Termex involves the simultaneous supply of hot water to both the shower and the faucet in the bathroom.

The water heater of this brand has a special safety valve that protects it from various malfunctions.

Water heaters of the instantaneous type are also produced under the Termex brand. These devices are also made only from high-quality components, which guarantees their long service life.

The operation scheme of a Termex flow-type water heater involves simultaneous supply of water to the shower and faucet when installed in the bathroom.

In addition, the installed special safety valve on the Termex flow device allows you not to worry about its safety.

A distinctive feature of all types of Termex brand water heaters is that their installation does not take much time and can be done by hand.

In any case, when choosing a water heater for an apartment or country house, you should, first of all, pay attention to both the quality of its performance and its appearance.

You should also inquire about the operating conditions, since the ease of use of the unit in the future largely depends on this.

Installation of a flow heater

Flow-through water heaters have one characteristic feature, namely, their compact size, which allows them to be installed directly under the sink in the kitchen or bathroom.

The liquid in them is heated in a special metal flask in which fairly powerful heaters are placed.

In view of this, when installing this type of water heaters, it is necessary that the wiring in the country house or apartment is in good condition and able to withstand heavy loads.

It is best to install a separate machine for this water heater, to which a wire with a large cross-section should be installed.

Once the problems with the electrical supply have been resolved, you can proceed to installing the device itself.

How to connect a water heater: step-by-step instructions

Its installation can be carried out either according to a temporary scheme or a stationary one.

In the first case, it is necessary to insert a special tee into the pipe with cold water and connect it to the device itself through an additional valve.

After this, all that remains is to apply voltage to the water heater and open the tap intended for hot water.

Meanwhile, a stationary installation involves the necessary supply and intake of liquid in pipes parallel to the general water supply system.

In order to perform the installation using this method, it will be necessary to cut tees into the pipes directly under the cold and hot water. Next, shut-off valves are installed hermetically.

This can be done using fum tape or ordinary tow. After this, it is necessary to connect the inlet pipe of the water heater with the pipe that is responsible for supplying cold liquid.

Then the outlet pipe is connected to the tap, which is responsible for supplying hot water.

If everything works properly, then electricity can be supplied to the water heater, after which hot water should flow from the corresponding tap.

To increase the safety of the entire system, it is recommended to install a safety valve at the same time as the water heater.

How to install an instantaneous water heater is described in more detail in the video above.

When installing storage-type water heaters, the electrical wiring requirements are not as stringent as instantaneous ones. In addition, the cost of such devices is much lower.

It should also be noted that a fairly common scheme is in which this water heater simultaneously supplies water to both the shower and the tap, which explains their popularity.

Anyone can install such a water heater correctly, with all the necessary materials and tools, and in a fairly short period of time.

First, you should check the condition of the electrical wiring and plumbing system in the apartment, and if there are any faults, they need to be eliminated.

Then the water heater itself is fixed on the wall, as shown in the video below, after which it will be necessary to connect not only pipes with wires, but also mount a safety valve.

After the water heater is installed, it is connected to the water supply system, and the safety valve is also connected.

Subsequent installation consists of connecting pipes to the corresponding inlets and outlets on the device through a safety valve.

First, the cold pipe is installed and connected, while the safety valve must be in the closed position.

If the installation of any water heater was carried out correctly, then hot water will flow from the corresponding tap, while all connections and pipes will be in a sealed condition, and the wires will not overheat.

You can learn in detail how to install a water heater with your own hands in the video posted in our article.

How to install a storage water heater?

Let's figure it out with our own hands, using only one model as an example. The installation sequence for wall-mounted storage water heaters is the same, regardless of the model or manufacturer.

Where is the best place to install a storage water heater?

It’s easier to answer: where the water heater should not be installed.

For example, it is not recommended to hang it over a bathtub or shower, because it is not recommended to splash water on the electrical part of the boiler. If there is not a lot of free space in the bathroom, then you can install a water heater above the washing machine or toilet.

What tools and materials are needed to install a water heater?

To install a water heater, you need hooks with dowels (for hanging), an adjustable wrench, winding (flax) with Unipak paste, corner taps, a tape measure, a pencil (marker), a hammer drill or impact drill (depending on the wall material), and a drill of the appropriate diameter.

Installation of a storage water heater

Installation begins with measuring the distance between the fasteners on the boiler itself. The fastenings are two brackets on the rear side of the case at the top. We need two measurements: 1) the distance from the top of the water heater to the bottom of these brackets; 2) the distance between the middles of the staples. The first size is needed to avoid making the awnings too close to the ceiling - so that the boiler cannot be hung. The second size is the distance between the hooks on which the boiler will hang.

To the first size we add as much as possible, for example, 50 mm, so that the water heater is not close to the ceiling. And we mark the resulting size on the wall from the ceiling in the selected location.

First we draw a center line on the wall, and from it to the left and to the right we draw half of the second size. We check by level that these two marks are on the same horizontal line, otherwise the boiler will hang crookedly:

After marking, you can drill. Don't forget to make sure there are no electrical wiring running through the drilling areas.

Drilled; hammered plastic dowels into the holes and screwed the hooks into them:

We do not screw it in completely, but leave a gap of ~10 mm between the hooks and the wall, so that you can hang the boiler.

We hung the boiler:

A check valve, also called a safety valve, is screwed onto the cold supply:

The valve is included with all water heaters. It is needed to protect the water heater from excess pressure that occurs when water expands when heating it.

Connecting a storage water heater yourself

I repeat: a safety valve is installed on the cold water supply pipeline.

Please note: there is an arrow on the valve body indicating the direction of water flow.

A few words about why install a valve if the boiler itself has a thermostat. But if the thermostat does not work and the water begins to boil, the pressure in the system rises, then the safety valve “gets involved”: it opens and relieves excess pressure.

Attention! Valves are designed for a certain pressure, which must be taken into account: if the valve is designed for a pressure less than in your system, then it will operate constantly.

And finally, we connect the water heater to the outlets of the water pipes, which should have taps:

It is clear that the pipe connections must be made in advance, at the design stage having determined where the water heater will be installed and where the pipes will be connected to it.

Features of boiler sockets

The socket must be installed in the bathroom with a protective cover. And the socket for the boiler must have its own automatic switch, so that you do not have to pull the socket every time, but turn it off with the switch (before taking a shower or bath, the boiler must be turned off so as not to get an electric shock through moist air).

Filling the water heater with water and turning it on after installation

To fill the boiler with water, open the cold water tap a little at a time (the tap that is specifically for the boiler, and not just any other one).

Important! There is no need to plug the boiler into the outlet yet!

Then we open the hot tap on the shower or bath mixer and... nothing should come out of it. We open the hot water supply from the water heater and wait for water to flow from the shower mixer.

It is clear that when the water heater is first filled, the water will not be hot (reminder: the boiler is not yet connected to the outlet!), the task now is to make sure that the water flows through the pipelines properly. It is advisable to remove the screens on the shower mixer so that possible debris can come out of the pipes and not clog the screens.

While the boiler is filling, we look to see if there are any leaks. If available, tighten the connections.

The water came out of the shower mixer - great. The boiler is full. We return the mesh to the mixer tap.

There is a queue to turn on the boiler. We set the relay regulator to zero. We plug the boiler into the socket. We set the temperature. It is better to read how to set the water temperature for a specific water heater model in the passport for this specific model, and not on Internet sites.

That's all about how to install a storage water heater.

P.S. This completes the step-by-step instructions for installing water supply and sewerage systems with your own hands. Glad it helped you.

How to check the heater of a water heater

Water heaters today are not a luxury, but one of the most necessary devices that saves during periods of water outages and lack of hot water, as well as during difficult times of repair work, which, unfortunately, do not happen rarely. However, a water heater will be able to operate for a long time and uninterruptedly only if it is looked after and treated carefully - clean it in a timely manner, monitor the safety of its parts, promptly ask the question “how to check the heater of a water heater?” and put it in order if it is faulty.

Studying the design of a water heater will allow you to carry out repair work on your own, without resorting to the help of specialists, since knowledge of the design allows you to identify a faulty element and have an idea of the procedure for replacing or repairing it. Moreover, doing this type of work is not so difficult, since water heaters have a fairly simple design: (See also: How to change the heater in a water heater)

  1. The main part of the device is the housing. This is the largest component of a water heater and includes all the others;
  2. The thermal insulation layer allows you to protect the unit from heat loss;
  3. The tank is another important detail. It is designed to heat incoming cold water;
  4. Heated water intake tube;
  5. The magnesium anode protects internal elements from corrosion and its destructive effects;
  6. The heating element is another important element with which water is heated. Not much different from a teapot heating element;
  7. The cold intake pipe supplies cold water;
  8. Sensors, which are represented by a thermostat, thermostat and thermal switch. These elements are the only technological representatives in such a device. These parts are responsible for the safety of the entire device, and also contribute to automatic heating, as well as independent shutdown;
  9. (See also: How to replace the heating element in a boiler with your own hands)

  10. The control panel is a necessary element of any device. In this case, it is a set of indicators that notify about a particular state of the water heater, a mode switching panel, and a thermostat regulator.

Electric water heaters with dry heaters, like other others, have the same operating principle, explained by the simplicity of their design. Opening the cold water supply begins the process of filling the internal container - the tank. The unit is connected to the network only after the air has been bled, which is done through a hot water intake.

After switching on, the sensors record the temperature of the cold water, after which the signal is sent to the heating element and the circuit is closed. From this moment, the incoming water begins the heating procedure. Thanks to the controlled thermostat, the user can set any temperature up to which the device will heat up. After the heating process is completed, the heating element turns off, and the device itself does not allow the newly heated water to cool, maintaining the temperature at the required level. After drawing hot water, the algorithm is repeated again. (See also: Sitemap 2)

An electric heater for a water heater is one of the most important parts, the care of which must be carried out tirelessly in order to ensure smooth and long-lasting operation of the water heater. The indicator on the device makes it easy to find out what process is currently taking place, since heating is indicated by a burning light, and a non-working state is indicated by an off light.

Of course, modern water heaters are equipped with all sorts of additional elements that facilitate the operation of the device and make it more functional, but the accumulation of functions does not change the basic principle of operation, whether it is a dry heater or not.

Reasons for replacing the heating element

To ensure long-term and trouble-free operation, it is recommended that the device be cleaned and maintained at least once a year. This procedure will allow you to promptly identify existing problems and eliminate them, as well as keep the interior of the water heater clean, preventing corrosion from destroying vital parts. It is important to remember that no matter how good the performance of the anode is, this element will still not last more than 17 months in uninterrupted operation. After this time it must be changed. (See also: How to descale a boiler)

Replacing the heater in a water heater is carried out depending on its condition, which is why inspection must be regular, otherwise a breakdown will be a surprise. What does undergoing a technical inspection include:

  • Disassembly of the device;
  • Checking the anode;
  • Checking the heating element;
  • Cleaning from scale and deposits;
  • Expert opinion.

It is thanks to a complete inspection by a specialist that you can avoid untimely breakdowns, keep the device clean, monitor its condition, thereby extending and prolonging the service life of the device. In addition, cleaning from sediments has a positive effect on the health of the consumer, since water, heating up in a tank full of sludge, absorbs harmful microelements.

The anode must be replaced when it is at least 40% worn compared to its healthy state. It is easy to determine this fraying; you just need to look at it - the terrible appearance indicates the need for replacement. The magnesium anode is aimed at protecting the tank, taking the entire blow of corrosion upon itself, thereby saving the metal of the tank. (See also: How to clean a boiler)

In addition, cleaning is extremely easy, since magnesium, coupled with oxygen, converts deposits into salt, which can be removed with a slight movement of the hand. That is why timely cleaning and replacement of the water heater is also necessary, as is the replacement of the heating element, regardless of the brand of the device, be it a Gorenje water heater with a dry heater or another.

Many people do not know how to find out about a faulty heating element and the need to replace it as soon as possible, but checking the condition of the heating element in a water heater is extremely simple:

  1. If, when turned on, the RCD constantly trips. This moment indicates either a current leak or a short circuit. It goes without saying that the first thing to think about is the heating element.
  2. The water does not heat up when the device is turned on. Of course, the refusal to heat is directly related to the malfunction of the heating element. In this case, you will need a multimeter, with which you can easily identify the fault. The presence of voltage on the contacts during testing indicates a breakthrough.
  3. Mechanical damage that is visible during inspection may also suggest that the heating device needs to be replaced soon or is needed at the moment.

Draining

The first thing you need to do before you start disassembling the water heater to replace the heating element is to drain the water, which can be done in four ways:

Simple equipment works in direct connection with a heating boiler, which is the source of energy for heating water in a storage water heater.

The efficiency of heating and providing hot water to all consumers at home in full will directly depend on whether the connection between the boiler and the indirect heating boiler is correctly selected and implemented .

Indirect heating boiler device

Connection features

An indirect heating boiler is a storage tank, inside of which one or more tubular heat exchangers are located. The hot coolant from the boiler circulates through the coil and heats water in sufficient volume for domestic and economic needs.

The principle of operation of the water heater is simple; difficulties arise during installation and wiring of heating equipment.

Therefore, it would not be amiss to find out the specifics of connecting a water heating device before starting work:

  • The closer the boiler is to the boiler , the more efficient the heat exchange from the heating system.
  • Water heater installation must be made in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations - wall-mounted models are attached to the wall, floor-mounted models are installed on the floor.
  • Cold water flow should be supplied through the lower pipe, and the hot intake through the upper, then the recirculation point will be in the center of the container itself.
  • Connections for coolant inlet and outlet should “look” towards the heating device. The movement of hot water or antifreeze along the coil should be from top to bottom.

Compliance with these simple rules guarantees the efficient operation of the boiler-boiler system, the efficiency of the heater will reach its maximum and there will be enough hot water for all consumers.

Options for strapping schemes

Piping an indirect heating water heater involves connecting the pipelines of the heating boiler and the water supply system.

Connecting a storage water heater in an apartment - there will always be hot water

The efficiency of the entire system – both hot water supply and heating – depends on the correct installation and piping of the boiler.

Three common schemes are used:

  • Using servo drive and three way valve.
  • Using two circulation pumps.
  • With hydraulic arrow.

Scheme 1: piping an indirect heating boiler using a servo drive and a three-way control valve

This connection option is the simplest and is used when there is a large consumption of hot water. Two circuits are connected to the heating boiler: the main circuit (for supplying heat to radiators or a water heated floor system) and auxiliary circuit (for heating water in the boiler). In order to correctly distribute the coolant flow from the boiler unit, a three-way separating valve is connected between these circuits.

The thermostat controls the water temperature in the water heater tank, and, when the set value is reached, sends a signal to the valve servodrive, which redirects the coolant flow to the heating circuit. When the water temperature in the boiler decreases, a reverse switch occurs - the coolant enters the coil.

In this scheme, it is important to correctly adjust the operation of the thermostat - the temperature set in the water heater should be lower than the temperature set on the boiler thermostat.

Otherwise, the coolant will not be able to heat the water in the tank of the water heating device to the required temperature, and accordingly the valve will not switch the heat flow to the heating circuit.

Boiler piping with servo drive and three-way valve

Scheme 2: piping a water heater with two pumps

Instead of a distribution valve, two pumps can be installed in parallel - for the heating circuit and for the domestic hot water supply. The pumps are controlled by the same thermostat installed in the boiler, which switches the operating mode of the pumping equipment to the specified parameters.

Here, too, the boiler circuit takes priority over the heating circuit, so the DHW pump is installed first. The efficiency of heating the premises will not decrease - the water in the boiler heats up quickly, so a critical decrease in temperature in the heating circuit does not occur.

In such a scheme, a check valve must be installed at the outlet of each pump - it will prevent mixing of counter flows of coolant.

Piping a water heater with two pumps

Diagram 3: boiler piping with hydraulic arrow

The use of a hydraulic arrow is relevant for a heating system with a large number of independent branches - for a boiler, heated floors, several radiator circuits, etc.

Each individual circuit has its own recirculation pump, so without a hydraulic distributor, some problems may arise in the system:

Piping of an indirect heating boiler with a hydraulic arrow

  • Operation in abnormal mode will lead to failure of the pumping equipment.
  • System imbalance.
  • Even when the pumps are stopped, the radiators can heat up from the flow of other operating devices.
  • The possibility of thermal shock and, as a consequence, destruction of cast iron elements of heating equipment.

The hydraulic arrow stabilizes the pressure and flow of coolant in all directions, evenly distributes heat between consumers and prevents the occurrence of thermal shocks. But the wiring diagram for an indirect heating boiler with a hydraulic water flow separator causes certain difficulties in the design, installation and adjustment of operating devices, so this connection option must be implemented by specialists.

Piping an indirect heating boiler with recirculation

If hot water is not consumed for a long period of time, it begins to cool down. When you turn on the tap, you have to wait several minutes until the hot flow from the boiler reaches the consumer. To reduce the time for draining cooled water, they use a water heater piping with recirculation - the heated flow is forced to move through a closed loop of pipelines and almost instantly “delivers” hot water to any point of consumption.

To implement such a scheme, another circuit with its own circulation pump is additionally mounted to the boiler, and additional piping elements are installed:

  • Check valve (prevents reverse flow of water in the pipeline).
  • Expansion tank (compensates for pressure in the DHW circuit when the taps are closed).
  • Automatic air vent (prevents air from pumping).
  • Safety valve (protects the water heating device from high pressure).

Piping an indirect heating boiler with recirculation

The choice of piping scheme for the DHW and heating circuits, with or without the possibility of recirculation, depends on the characteristics of the heating system, accurate calculations of equipment power and the need for hot water.

If difficulties arise with the design and execution of work, it is better to seek help from specialized companies.

For safe self-installation and connection of the boiler, you need to use all the necessary protective and regulatory equipment, and choose the right method of insertion into the existing water supply system.

Any more or less technically educated person can easily connect a storage water heater on their own.

It is enough just to adhere to the general principles of connection and technological nuances associated with the type of main cold water pipeline and the features of the internal electrical network.

Otherwise, quite expensive water heating equipment may fail, water leaks may occur, or a person may be electrocuted.

In most cases, owners try to place a storage water heater directly in the bathroom or toilet room under the ceiling with wall mounting.

This is quite justified - in this way, space is saved in small bathrooms, since a boiler suspended from the ceiling usually does not interfere with anything or anyone.

But such placement of plumbing equipment is not without some disadvantages:

  • Firstly, in case of cold water shutdown for inexperienced users(mainly housewives) there is a desire to take advantage of the reserves of the valuable liquid contained in the storage tank. At the same time, they often forget to turn off the power supply. A Most of the most inexpensive water heaters are not equipped with protection against turning on without water.(or the latter may simply fail and not work), which will at least lead to breakdown of the tubular electric heater.
  • In this regard more profitable floor installation of water heating storage equipment– as, for example, this is practiced in kitchens, where boilers are mainly installed under the sink. And according to the laws of communicating vessels and gravity, water in the absence of pressure in the system cannot flow through a tap located above the level of the container.
  • Secondly, for wall mounting such heavy equipment(the mass of the boiler is on average equal to the mass of water + 20-40%) Reliable fastening is required.

Not every wall material can provide high-quality fastening. For example, the now so popular plasterboard walls are not even considered. In order to securely fasten a boiler in them (even if it is not the most voluminous one), it is necessary to provide strong metal profiles - mortgages for future fasteners - at the stage of constructing plasterboard partitions.

  • Fastening in concrete or brick walls using metal anchor dowels will turn out to be of sufficient quality. Plastic dowels are strictly not recommended, because after several years they significantly decrease in volume and dry out, which can lead to the fall of expensive plumbing equipment.

Water supply connection diagram

The most reliable, time-tested diagram for connecting a storage-type electric water heater to the water supply network is indicated in the following figure:

When connecting water heating electrical equipment to the water supply network, it is important to observe the following principles:

Connecting a boiler with your own hands to various types of plumbing systems

Steel pipes

In the case of a classic steel water supply, a modern connection method can be used, which eliminates complex processes such as welding, cutting a water pipe and then cutting a thread to connect a tee.

For these purposes, the easiest way is to use a “vampire” tee, which is a modification of a metal clamp, one of which has a pipe with a finished thread.

It is installed as follows:

  • the installation site is first cleaned of dirt and old paint;
  • the clamp is installed using a rubber gasket and securely fixed with four bolts;
  • the water supply valve is closed, if necessary, the pressure in the system is relieved by opening any mixer;
  • using a drill, carefully drill a hole in the pipe through the threaded pipe;
  • The ball valve is screwed on, after which you can proceed to subsequent operations - installation of connecting pipes and safety elements.

To insert into a steel water supply, you will need the following equipment and materials:

  • Vampire tee- 2 pieces;
  • Drill with metal drill diameter 10-12 millimeters;
  • Set of wrenches or pliers and an adjustable wrench;
  • Rubber gasket, FUM – tape.

Video about how not to install small-volume water heaters:

Metal-plastic pipes

Inserting into a metal-plastic pipeline is even easier, since it is done using standard crimp-type fittings.

To do this you need:

  • Mark the insertion points of T-branches on the hot and cold branches of the water supply system.
  • Having closed the inlet valves and relieved the pressure in the system, carefully cut out the marked areas using a hacksaw or grinder.
  • Clean the joints.
  • Install the tees and carefully crimp them using a special crimping press.

To carry out the operation of inserting into the existing one you will need:

  • Two T-branches for metal-plastic;
  • Cutting tool (hacksaw or grinder);
  • Cleaning tool (round file or mounting knife);
  • Crimping press for metal-plastic pipes.
  • Polypropylene pipelines are connected using the soldering method. Therefore, to make an insert into a water supply system from this material you will need:
  • Soldering iron for polypropylene pipes;
  • Pipe cutter;
  • Two tees for propylene pipes.

Detailed video instructions on how to properly connect the boiler to the water supply:

Polypropylene pipes

The operation itself of inserting into a polypropylene water supply looks like this:

  • We shut off the water at the entrance to the system.
  • Mark the cut areas according to the sizes of the tees and carefully cut them out using a pipe cutter.
  • Clean the joints, insert the T-taps, and secure them by heating with a soldering iron.
  • Install valves or extension polypropylene tubes.

To make a threaded connection with shut-off/safety valves, it is necessary to solder special MPH couplings at the ends of the tubes.

Polyethylene pipes

Connection to a water supply system made of polyethylene pipes is possible in three ways:

  • Soldering method. In this case, the same tools are used as when inserting into polypropylene pipelines, only fittings are used from HDPE.
  • Using compression type tees, that is, equipped with conical washers that tighten the connection by turning the nut - collet.
  • By using a vampire tee, similar to that described in the “Steel Pipes” section, only made of high-strength polypropylene.

How to connect the boiler to the electrical network?

An important factor that directly affects the uninterrupted and safe operation of the boiler and the ease of its operation is its correct connection to the electrical network.

To ensure the above, the following conditions must be met:

  • The connection is made through a separate current machine of the appropriate rating. This circuit breaker can be located either in a common panel or in a separate one, located in close proximity to the water heater.
  • Also, according to modern standards of PUE and SNiPs, it is necessary to connect any power electrical appliances, the category of which includes a water heater, through a differential relay (in other words, a residual current device). Typically, an RCD is installed on the entire power wiring of an apartment or floor of a private house.
  • To connect the storage water heater to electricity, you must use a double-insulated cable of the appropriate cross-section.

Thus, self-installation and connection of water-heating plumbing equipment is within the capabilities of almost everyone. If you are not confident in your strengths, abilities, or you do not have enough free time, you can turn to the services of professional plumbers.

Connection cost

Standard installation, if you have all the necessary consumables and fittings purchased in advance, depending on the volume of the boiler, will cost 2000-3000 rubles.

And if there are some difficulties that prevent the quick installation/connection of the heater (for example, a significant distance from the point of connection to the water supply system or the point of connection to the electrical network), then the final amount is negotiated separately.
