Heavenly doctor - St. Nicholas. Miracle.

Hello, dear visitors Orthodox island "Family and Faith"!

Despite the fact that the Orthodox faith among the Russian people is intensively reviving, there are many skeptics among our compatriots who continue to live in the darkness of unbelief.

And only miracles, which happen quite often even today, make them think about the fact that there is still that Power that is capable of creating the supernatural, beyond the control of a mortal person - miracles!

One of them we offer for your reading:

M his little son is two years old, ─ writes Julia, from St. Petersburg, ─ he has been disabled since childhood. We used to live in the Lakes. When we baptized Igor in the Shuvalov Church, and the priest anointed his cheeks with oil, we saw that his eczema began to heal. I heard a lot from my mother about the miracles of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. For example, how one woman drowned and prayed to St. Nicholas for help. A miracle happened, and she went to church and placed candles in front of each icon. We soon moved to the city center. Let me tell you about our miracle.

On September 13, 1999, I decided to feed my baby with cottage cheese, gave it on the tip of a spoon, and suddenly he began to cough, then vomit, I carried him to the bathroom and suddenly he began to swell, his lips turned out, his eyes were not visible, his arms, legs - everything was swollen . I saw this for the first time. Everything happened in a matter of minutes. They began to call an ambulance, and the child was suffocating in front of his eyes. The neighbor wrapped the almost naked baby in a blanket and said that the ambulance could not wait, he had to run to the nearest hospital. I shouted “Igor, don’t die, scream…”.

But Igor was almost silent. And then I begged

“Lord, help, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, create a miracle. If Igor survives, I will never forget it, I will light a candle for every icon in the church.”

My husband took us by car to the nearest hospital. Igor was taken to intensive care. They thought that the child had choked, but he had an allergy - swelling, therefore, the doctors tried in vain.

But the child survived!

I fulfilled my promise, collected the necessary amount for candles, although it was not easy for me, I put it next to each icon in St. Nicholas Cathedral (this is the church closest to us). Thank the Lord, all the Saints, Saint Nicholas for everything!”

E this miracle is only one of the many miracles created by the Lord through His saint, the saint and Wonderworker Nicholas, which vividly testify that the Lord exists! And His help comes to each of us, daily! But, unfortunately, we very often do not notice this ...

Lord Jesus Christ, through the prayers of St. Nicholas, take us away from vanity and lack of faith!

Nicholas the Wonderworker - "Zaraisk" miracles!

Good afternoon, dear visitors of our Orthodox website “Family and Faith”!

Miracles keep faith in God in our hearts! All four gospels are imbued with miracles! The Acts of the Saints also contains many wonderful stories. The "Lives of the Saints", of which there are a great many, also breathe wondrous events.

But miracles from the saints happened (and are happening) not only during their lifetime, but also after their death.

Particularly marvelous in miracles is the marvelous saint of God - St. Nicholas, about whom we will speak.

Zaraisk White Well has been revered as a shrine for centuries. Orthodox people come and go to him from everywhere. In ancient times, a chapel towered over the holy spring. On the day of bringing the miraculous icon (August 11) to Zaraysk, as well as during national disasters, processions were made to the White Well. It is known that during the cholera epidemic in 1830, 1848, 1871, Zaraytsy went to the spring in a procession with the miraculous image of St. Nicholas. Here, prayers were served to Nikolai Ugodnik, asking for his prayers before the Throne of God, for the deliverance of the city of Zaraysk from misfortune ... And the epidemics stopped.

From time immemorial, in memory of the bringing of the miraculous icon of the Saint (this day coincides with the birthday of Nicholas the Wonderworker), a church festival has been established. It begins the day before, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon with prayer singing with blessing of water and the performance of a great requiem for the eternal rest of the ever-memorable - the priest Eustathius, the glorious martyr Prince Theodore, Eupraxia and baby John. From 6 p.m., an all-night vigil begins with an akathist to the Saint, and the next day, Divine Liturgy and a solemn prayer service. Even in Soviet times When the processions of the cross were forbidden, people continued to come to the holy place one by one or in small groups, praying for help and healing. Healings are taking place today. So, in 1988, a resident of Kharkov, who had suffered from stomach cancer for eighteen years before, came with her husband to Zaraysk, having heard about healing spring. Together they prayed to Nicholas the Wonderworker and took water from the spring. The woman was healed. Almost ten years later, a resident of Zaraysk told Archpriest Valery Romanov an incident that had happened to his friend, who had come from Armenia. His friend long time suffered from a skin disease and could not be cured. I came to Zaraysk, hoping for a miracle. A friend brought him to the Well and doused him with a whole bucket of holy water, from which he lost consciousness. An ambulance was called, but no medical intervention was required. The patient came to his senses and saw that his skin disease had disappeared without a trace.

PRAYERS

Prayer one

Oh, the all-praised and revered bishop, the great wonderworker, the saint of Christ, Father Nicholas, the man of God and the faithful servant, the husband of desires, the chosen vessel, the strong pillar of the Church, the brightest lamp, the star illuminating and illuminating the entire universe! You are a righteous one, blossoming like a palm tree, planted in the courts of your Lord; who lived in the world, you filled the world with the fragrance of the world and exude the peace of the inexhaustible grace of God. By your procession, Holy Father, the sea was sanctified, when your many miraculous relics marched to the city of Bari, so that from east to west the name of the Lord would be praised. Oh, skilful and wonderful miracle worker, quick helper, ardent intercessor, good shepherd, saving the verbal flock from all sorts of troubles! We glorify you and magnify you as the hope of all Christians, the source of miracles, the protector of the faithful, the wise teacher, the hungry feeder, weeping joy, naked robes, sick doctors, helmsmen floating on the sea, captives of the liberator, widows and orphans of the feeder and intercessor, chastity guardian, the meek educator's babies, the old strengthening, the mentor's fasting, the workers' repose, the poor and the wretched abundant wealth. Hear us praying to you and running under your roof, manifest your intercession for us to the Almighty and intercede with your charitable prayers for everything that is useful for the salvation of our souls and bodies; save this holy monastery [or this temple], every city and village, and every Christian country and the people living in it from every disaster with your help; for we know, we know how much the prayer of the righteous can do, contributing to good; but you, the righteous, after the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, we have as an intercessor to the All-Merciful God, and we humbly resort to your, most good father, fervent intercession and intercession; save us, like a cheerful and good shepherd, from all enemies, pestilence, earthquake, hail, famine, flood, fire, sword, invasion of foreigners, and in all our troubles and sorrows, give us a helping hand, and open the doors of God's mercy to us; because we are unworthy to look at the height of heaven from the multitude of our iniquities, we are bound by the bonds of sins, and we have never done the will of our Creator and have not observed His commands. Therefore, we bow the knee of our contrite and humble heart before our Creator, and we ask for your fatherly intercession before Him: help us, servant of God, so that we do not perish with our iniquities, deliver us from every evil and from every hostile deed, direct our mind and strengthen our heart ours in the right faith, in which, according to your intercession and intercession, let us not be shaken by wounds, or threats, or pestilence, or by any anger of our Creator, but here we will live peacefully and be able to see the blessings on the land of the living, glorifying the Father and the Son , and the Holy Spirit, the One in the Trinity of the glorified and worshiped God, now and always, and forever and ever, amen.

Prayer two

O all-holy Nicholas, glorious servant of the Lord, our ardent intercessor, and everywhere in sorrows a quick helper! Help me, a sinner and despondent: in this life, beg the Lord God to grant me the remission of all my sins, how much I have sinned from my youth throughout my life in deed, word, thought and all my feelings; and at the exodus of my soul, help me, the unfortunate one, implore the Lord God, the entire creation of the Creator, to save me from air ordeals and eternal torment, so that I constantly glorify the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and your merciful intercession, now and always and in forever and ever, amen.

Prayer three

O all-good Father Nicholas, shepherd and teacher of all who with faith resort to your intercession and call on you in fervent prayer! Hurry soon and deliver the flock of Christ from the wolves that destroy it, and protect every Christian country and save with your holy prayers from worldly rebellion, earthquake, invasion of foreigners and internecine war, from hunger, flood, fire, sword and sudden death. And as you had mercy on three men who were sitting in prison, and delivered them from royal wrath and beheading with a sword, so have mercy on me, mind, word and deed in the darkness of sins, and deliver me from the wrath of God and eternal punishment, but by your intercession and help, by His mercy and grace, Christ God will give me a quiet and sinless life to live in this age and deliver me from the fate of those standing on the left, and will make me stand on the right with all the saints, amen.

*Translated into Russian by Hieromonk Ambrose (Timroth).

Any Orthodox Christian, who sincerely follows his religious convictions, should understand by an integral part of his beliefs a special spiritual church creation - an akathist. One cannot call life truly righteous if a person does not perform the Sacrament of Laudatory Hymn dedicated to the Saints. Each Orthodox prayer book contains the texts of akathists. One of the strongest and deepest akathist prayers is the "miracle-working" praise in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

Nicholas the Wonderworker - Pleaser of God, or St. Nicholas

Nicholas the Wonderworker born into a deeply religious family, therefore, since childhood, it was determined that his life would be devoted to faith and service to God. Being in infancy, even then little Nikola began to show his miraculous abilities - after his birth, the boy's mother was immediately cured of illness, and when the Sacrament of Baptism was performed, Nikolai stood on his feet for about three hours without someone else's help, as if saluting the Great Holy Trinity .

Young Nikolai served the church with a burning soul, reading pastoral teachings, becoming famous beyond his years for his spiritual success. The wise and deep advice of Nikola was compared with the sayings of the elders, and aroused respect among the common people.

Adult Nicholas, having become a priest, continued to work for the good common people. He, as if only for the sake of this, was awake - helped everyone in need, hiding their good deeds on making general conversations. He did alms without demanding anything in return, spent long hours in tireless prayers for the sins of others. Striving for an isolated life, Nicholas made many pilgrimages to shrines, doing good deeds and bestowing his prophetic visions on believers, which saved many lives, preventing troubles.

Nicholas the Wonderworker lived many righteous years, having gone to God as a deep old man. In all corners of the Earth they know and honor the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the pious God's Helper, soothsayer and prayer book for everyone and everyone asking for help.

St. Nicholas the Saint is also known under other names - St. Nicholas of the Spring, Winter, Wet and Autumn, associated with certain seasons, in which holidays are held in honor of the Wonderworker Nicholas and religious processions are performed with prayers.

Akathist prayer to help all the desperate

Nicholas the Wonderworker is considered one of the most revered Saints of the Lord among Orthodox believers. They pray to Him, asking for help and salvation. An akathist prayer song dedicated to St. Nicholas is able to “saturate” any spirit that prays with sincere joy, fill it inner world meaning that will help to avoid temptations on the path of life.

Readings of Akathist to Nicholas the Wonderworker accepted continue for 40 days but in order to perform the Sacrament with understanding prayer word, it is necessary to consciously relate to the very text of the akathist song. The akathist itself was at first conceived not at all as a specific genre, but exclusively as a praising word in the name of the Mother of God.

Later, as other laudatory chants addressed to other Saints were created, the akathist grew into a church song genre. The reading of each individual akathist word requires compliance with certain rules, including the recitation of other accompanying prayers. But it is precisely those 40 akathists dedicated to Nicholas the Wonderworker that are accompanied by only common prayers.

How to make a reading in 40 days?

The Akathist to Nicholas the Wonderworker, designed for 40 days of reading, does not at all imply the performance of daily rituals of reciting akathist prayer texts. The whole meaning of this Sacrament is that for 40 days a single akathist is read. But it must be remembered that this procession must necessarily be accompanied by other prayers both before and after reading the akathist word.

Prayers, the utterance of which is obligatory before reading the akathist:

  • “Through the prayers of our Holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ…”;
  • “Glory to you, our God, glory to you…”;
  • “King of heaven, Comforter, Soul of truth…”;
  • "The Trisagion. With our Father…”

Prayers recited after reading the akathist:

  • Prayer Holy Mother of God“Worthy is…”;
  • "Glory and now ...";
  • Saying three times the words "Lord have mercy";
  • Again, “Through the prayers of the Holy Father, Lord, Jesus Christ…”.

Reading an akathist for 40 days promises to grant a real Miracle to the one who prays. Nicholas the Prelate hear everyone's prayers, for as during life, but even after death, the Pleasant of God Nicholas continues to provide assistance to all those in need and seeking solace.

The rule associated with the readings of an akathist for 40 days, with its origins, refers to the events described in the New Testament - that is how much long days Our Lord Jesus Christ kept a fast before he made his preaching word, and for the same amount of time he continued to be among people after his Holy Resurrection.

The very number 40 in Orthodox Christian teachings is a symbol of something “full”, “reached perfection”. It is not without reason that this number can be found so often in various Orthodox sources - the Great Flood was destined to last exactly 40 days and nights, Moses spent the same amount of time in Sinai while he studied the commandments of God, two Jewish kings - Solomon and David, headed the throne for a period equal to 40 years old.

Many people who have decided to perform the Sacrament of reading the Akathist word have doubts. It seems to them that it is an impossible task to endure 40 days of daily prayers, because everyone knows the hardships of everyday life - taking care of the family, the burden of housekeeping, difficult working conditions. But everyone who entered on the path of observance of 40 days of reading an akathist, notes that the support gained on a spiritual level, tangible after the first days of performing hymns, bestows a blessed feeling and is worth any effort and time spent.
