How to repair an intex air mattress. How to seal an air mattress

We think you are familiar with the situation when you stayed overnight with friends on an air mattress, and by the morning you discovered that you were lying practically on the floor. Despite all the convenience, efficiency and functionality of such beds, you will have to wonder more than once about how to seal an air mattress: no matter how rarely and carefully you use it, over time it will no longer hold air as well as at first after the purchase. Find out how you can identify the culprit of the leak and exactly how to resolve such a problematic situation.

Rule out valve malfunction

Before scolding your children or your cat for making holes, make sure that the mattress is deflating for no other reason, and this could very well be a malfunction of the valve. Perhaps it is not necessary to seal the mattress and you can limit yourself to repairing this part.

Lie down on an air bed, put your hand to the valve and listen: if you feel or hear air escaping in this place, then restoring the valve's tightness will help you solve the problem of waking up on the floor. First, try removing the valve, cleaning it from dust and putting it back: debris accumulated in the grooves may well be the cause of the problem. But this method will only work if the valve is not damaged and does not have cracks in the pump hole. In this case, it will not be possible to repair the part at home: you will have to buy and replace the valve with a new one. Also, the cause of the leak may be an incorrectly installed or simply loosely latched valve, and since these options are easiest to determine by eye, try to eliminate them first.

To ensure that the valve remains in its original form for a long time, do not screw the pump too tightly when inflating the mattress.

Finding the source of the leak

Is everything okay with the valve, and it became obvious that there are still holes in the material? Well, it’s quite possible to seal them at home, but first you need to determine where exactly the gap is, and doing this without using household tricks is oh so difficult. By the way, in such a situation there is no need to look for someone to blame: very often holes appear on air mattresses simply during operation without any external mechanical damage.

  • A great way to identify holes is to use a foam solution, which is best made with bubble bath or dish detergent. Apply the solution to a mattress completely filled with air, section by section, using a sponge, cloth or spray bottle, and you will see that in some places large bubbles, like soap bubbles, will begin to form. It is in this place that you need to look for a hole.
  • First of all, holes should be looked for at the boundaries of the adhesion of the outer fabric with the internal elements, and this is the entire length of the relief pattern. This is the most vulnerable area, although small tears along the seam or on the main fabric cannot be ruled out.
  • Having found a hole, circle it with a pen or marker so as not to forget its location, because you can seal the mattress only when it is dry, and by that time the tears can be lost from sight.

Also, don't get complacent when you find one hole: often, especially on older mattresses, you'll be dealing with multiple tears at once, so it's best to inspect the mattress thoroughly and completely.

When inflating your mattress, remember that overfilling it with air over time can cause small or even large tears in the surface.

Seal holes and tears in an air mattress

The same store where you bought the bed probably sells branded repair kits to fix the problem, but you most likely want to know how to seal an air mattress at home without spending money on expensive kits. You can properly and efficiently repair an inflatable bed yourself using improvised means if you follow a certain algorithm.

  1. Proceed with sealing only after the mattress is completely dry after taking a soap bath.
  2. Buy PVC glue: the classic “Moment” is quite suitable, since after drying it becomes like rubber. But its transparent variations, although they will make the patch more neat, can negatively affect its quality, since such compositions “glass” after drying and can crack when bent. For the same reason, superglue is not suitable. In addition, it can ruin the PVC material, as it is an aggressive adhesive.
  3. As a patch, you can use a piece of thin rubber or, for example, patches from a tire repair kit if you are a motorist and you have them lying around idle. In this case, the patch should cover the hole by at least 1 cm on each side. So, for a simple, barely noticeable hole, you need to cut a circle with a diameter of 2-3 cm.
  4. Both the area with the tear and the patch itself must be thoroughly degreased using acetone or another product if you want the adhesion to be really strong. If your mattress has a flocked surface, then the pile must first be removed with acetone or fine sandpaper: it will not be possible to properly glue a patch to it.

Due to the specifics of working with Moment glue, the mattress can only be sealed in a deflated form, otherwise it will not be possible to press the surfaces tightly together, since the mattress will spring. Apply glue to the damaged area of the mattress and to the patch, wait 5 minutes, press the surfaces firmly together and secure the patch in place with a weight for the next 24 hours.

If the mattress begins to deflate while on a hike or at a tent camp and there is no way to repair it, good electrical tape will completely cope with the problem before you arrive home, although this method does not work well on a velor surface.

It’s possible to repair an air mattress with your own hands, without going to a workshop or buying special repair kits, if you set aside a little time for it and follow the listed recommendations!

Air mattresses are used not only for relaxing on ponds, they are also often used at home instead of a bed for guests. They are compact, take up little space when deflated, and their service life is unlimited, provided you use them carefully and avoid punctures. But when they happen, the question arises of how to seal the inflatable and whether it is possible to do it yourself. Anyone can perform such repairs, you just need to select the required materials and tools.

Such a convenient home attribute can be torn or punctured at any time; this can be caused by frisky pets, branches or debris on the street, but you should not throw it away. You can repair the mattress yourself using patches and glue, if you follow the instructions below, you will be able to do it no worse than the specialists.

Gluing a rubber product is a simple process; it is much more difficult to figure out how to find a hole in an air mattress. Most often, it is so small that it cannot be found during a quick inspection, and there is no way to determine it by sound. First of all, you should make sure that the problem is not in the valve; often it is because of its loosely screwed cap that air leaks occur.

Almost 90% of holes in mattresses appear on their side seams, and the rest occur on the bottom surface, which is in contact with the floor.

First you need to find all the leaks and you can’t do without a careful inspection of the entire product and using all kinds of puncture detection methods.

1st stage. Finding the location of the damage

Visual inspection of a rubber thing sometimes does not give any results. If the damage site immediately becomes noticeable, then by placing the back of your hand on it, you can feel the flow of cold air coming from inside the mattress.

You can feel the movement of air with your hands soaked in water, but you need to examine the mattress systematically, studying every centimeter, not forgetting to constantly wet your hands.

Immersion in water

If a hole becomes noticeable near a body of water, then its exact location can be calculated by fully inflating the product and placing as many people on it as possible. Then, under their mass, it will sink into the water and bubbles will become noticeable on the water surface, and the damaged area will be determined by them.

The pre-inflated mattress must be treated with a soap solution; for this, use a foam sponge or a piece of this material. The soap substance, prepared from liquid or regular soap, is poured into a convenient container - a cup, and all surfaces are methodically treated with it. With this method of identifying holes, even the smallest of them can be identified by air bubbles.

By sound

People with good hearing will be able to identify punctures by ear. Just to check the mattress, you need to choose a quiet room, inflate the mattress in it and listen carefully to the characteristic hissing sound, it is produced by the air at the outlet.

Liquid filling

Sometimes it is advised to fill a rubber product with water, and by the streams that flow out of it, you can determine where the hole is. But the difficulty of this technique is that it will be difficult to dry the product after such filling, and in the future some people simply refuse to use it. But if this is the case in the summer, then it is easy to dry the mattress in the air, but whitish stains may remain.

If they don’t confuse you, then the procedure for identifying holes is as follows:

  • completely release all the air from the rubber product;
  • prepare liquid with soap solution;
  • pour the prepared soap solution with a volume of 3 liters into the mattress and inflate it;
  • slowly turn the mattress over on all sides to determine the puncture site by the characteristic hissing sounds;
  • Mark the identified areas of damage with a marker.

2nd stage. Preparing the surface for patch application

After identifying all the places where air leaks from the mattress, you should mark them with a marker, chalk or a piece of soap. The rubber thing is thoroughly cleaned of dirt, washed if necessary, and wait until it dries naturally. Under no circumstances should you hang it on a radiator or near other heating devices.

If the hole is located on the fleecy part of the mattress, then this area is lightly sanded with fine-grained sandpaper so that the patch can be pressed more tightly to the damaged surface.

The area to be patched must be degreased using acetone, gasoline used for lighters, pure alcohol, or nail polish remover. After such treatment there should be no traces left.

3rd stage. Preparing the necessary tools and materials

A completely logical question arises: how to seal an air mattress so that it can last for many years. It is best to buy a ready-made repair kit from Intex, which contains:

  • clear vinyl film;
  • flock patch;
  • glue.

The kit comes with instructions that make it easy to figure out how to apply the patch correctly. Such a set can be purchased in advance together with the mattress to avoid searching for the necessary materials in the future. It won’t take up much space, but if necessary, you can use it even on the road.

If there is no place to buy such a kit, then you can prepare all the materials necessary for repairs from available materials:

  • for patches, any old inflatable children's toy is suitable, from which you can cut a piece of the desired size, it can be a ball, an armlet, a pool, a circle and much more;
  • Instead of special glue, you can buy its analogue for rubber, but you cannot use super glue, otherwise you can damage the mattress.

The tools used are scissors, sandpaper, a glue brush and a marker for marking.

4th stage. Glue selection

There are many products on sale that are suitable for gluing rubber products; when choosing them, you should avoid those options that act instantly.

The moment is universal

Its transparent composition reliably glues not only rubber patches, but also pieces of other materials. It dries completely after a day.

Polyurethane for shoes

This polyurethane glue is also known as Desmokol. It is mainly used for gluing leather products, but has also been successfully used for repairing rubber mattresses.

PVC glue

It is also known as Liquid Patch. It is waterproof and comes in different colors, which is very convenient, since you can restore a product of any color without losing its attractive appearance.

Super Moment

Although this glue is made from natural rubber, it is not recommended to use it for repairing mattresses, since when it hardens, it becomes so hard that it can subsequently crumble.

Rubber glue

It must be applied to the patch and the rubber product at the same time, and after two minutes they are applied to each other and placed under the press. After 24 hours, the result of the repair can be checked.

5th stage. Cutting out a patch

If the damage is minor, then you should not overload the product with large patches; it will be enough to cut a piece of suitable material measuring 1.5 × 1.5 cm. Before gluing, the patch itself and the puncture site must be treated with alcohol, and then wait until they dry. Gluing should be carried out when the rubber is dry.

If there are several local puncture sites on the mattress, but they are located next to each other, then they can be combined under one piece of material. In this case, it is necessary that the edges of the patch completely cover the area of damage; for this, you need to provide a margin of at least 1 cm on each side.

6th stage. Sealing the surface

The amount of glue depends on its type. If “Moment” is used, it is applied in a thick layer, and if the repair is carried out with Dismacol, then it is spread thinly and evenly over the patch. After applying the glue, the patch and the damaged area must be dried, preferably waiting for 10 minutes. But if you don’t have that much time, then you can use it, only warm air should come out of it, not hot air.

The patch is pressed tightly to the mattress and held for two minutes until it is well fixed. If all repair conditions are met, the mattress can be used after half an hour.

7th stage. Sealing seams

In case of small areas of damage to the seam, they are simply filled with glue and the product is not touched until it is completely dry, but if it was not possible to correct the situation the first time, then the repair should be repeated.

There is another way of gluing seams; it is more labor-intensive, but reliable. Its implementation is as follows:

  • after identifying the location of the leak, a section of the mattress needs to be pulled out through the valve; for this you can use a ruler;
  • the damaged area is wiped with alcohol or another surface degreasing agent;
  • after processing, the product must dry, during this time the necessary patch is cut out of the prepared rubberized fabric, and glue is applied to its inner side;
  • The patch is applied to the seam and pressed firmly against it.

After this repair option, the mattress does not need to be touched for at least 12 hours; after the glue has completely dried, the mattress is turned inside out and inflated.

If it was not possible to eliminate the leak in one go, you need to repeat the entire process of gluing the patch again, just do not need to eliminate the old one. It is necessary to cut a piece larger than the previous one and fix it on top of the old one, this will be more reliable, but at the same time you need to make sure that the edges are well lubricated with glue.

Some people worry that the edges of the patch will begin to lift over time and because of this it will fall off. To prevent this from happening, you need to sand them a little after the patch is glued, and then apply a small strip of glue on top.

How to prevent new confirmations?

Each time after using the mattress on vacation, it must be deflated on the beach and then transported home in this form. If you don’t want to constantly inflate it, then you should carry it in your hands, while trying not to touch sharp and piercing objects (tree branches, roofs, etc.). At home, it is better to install it against a wall, in a corner, so that doors, pets and children cannot catch it. It is stored only in dry form.

If this rubber product is used only as a bed for guests, then after each departure it is advisable to deflate the product and store it in its original packaging.

Conclusion

Proper repair of the mattress guarantees its long service life in the future, and if you follow all the recommendations for its storage and use, then the rubber thing will delight you for many, many months.

Products made from the thermoplastic polymer polyvinyl chloride are in great demand among buyers due to their practicality. Air mattresses, pillows and chairs are mobile, compact, and do not require special storage space as they do not take up much space. However, the thin material is extremely susceptible to mechanical damage. Even a child's toy accidentally lost on the floor can become a source of puncture and tearing of the PVC surface. Tips on how to repair a mattress yourself at home will help you save on purchasing a new product.

    Show all

    Determining the source of damage

Before proceeding directly with the repair, it is necessary to determine the source of the rupture. To do this, you should tightly inflate the mattress with a pump and press on it with your hands (you can sit or lean on the product with your elbows). The whistling air will indicate the approximate location of the damage. If the hole is relatively large in diameter, you can run your palm over the surface of the mattress and pinpoint the source of the leak. If the puncture is tiny, it is recommended to use one of the following methods.

    Water and foam

A tightly inflated mattress should be lowered into water and see where the air bubbles come from. If the product does not fit completely into the bath, it is recommended to immerse it in parts. It is very convenient to find the puncture site using a soap solution. Add dishwashing detergent, shampoo or liquid soap to a small amount of water and whisk the solution well. After this, you should apply the foam with a sponge to the surface of the mattress and watch the reaction. Bubbles will soon begin to inflate at the puncture site. Once the source of the leak has been identified, it must be circled with a marker and the product allowed to dry completely.

    Starch or flour

This method is convenient because after finding a hole, you don’t have to dry the mattress for a long time before repairing it. It is necessary to inflate the mattress tightly and sprinkle the surface with starch, flour or powder. A light “cloud” forms at the point where the air escapes. The hole should be circled with a marker to accurately record its location, and the product should be thoroughly vacuumed.

    Cling film

The surface of the inflated mattress should be moistened with a spray bottle, wrapped with cling film and watched for the reaction. The exact location of the puncture will be indicated by a tubercle formed in the place where air accumulates under the film.

If, after examining the surface, not a single hole was found, then the problem is poor valve tightness. A proven method will help you verify this: you should strongly inflate the mattress and pour shaving foam under the valve. Bubbles will indicate where the air is escaping.

    Preparation for repair

Before repairing, it is necessary to completely remove the air from the mattress and prepare the surface. To do this, you need to degrease the problem area using gasoline, alcohol, nail polish remover or white spirit. If the hole is on the velor side, you should first get rid of the lint, as it will interfere with a strong adhesion. To remove it, you need to treat the surface with a cotton swab soaked in acetone. After drying, the fluff is removed with a screwdriver, the blunt side of a knife or fine-grained sandpaper.

When removing, you must be especially careful not to rub the area too hard, so as not to further damage the surface.

    Defect elimination methods

Sealing an air mattress is not difficult when you know exactly where the puncture is. A competent approach and available tools will help you repair the product without the help of specialists.

    Patch

The simplest and most effective way to repair damage on the outer surface of a product is to patch it. The mattresses usually come with repair materials: special glue and vinyl for making patches. It is necessary to first cut the patch of the required diameter (leaving 2-3 cm indentations), degrease it, and apply glue. Next, you should combine the parts, press firmly and wait half a minute. For a strong bond, it is recommended to place a weight on the problem area and leave it for 5-6 hours. The mattress can be inflated after 24 hours.

The material for patches from the manufacturer is enough for 2-3 patches. If necessary or if there is no ready-made repair kit, you can make a patch yourself. It is recommended to use a rubber swimming cap, a children's inflatable toy, an old tire, or material from a car tube repair kit as raw materials. Special glue from the manufacturer can be easily replaced with glue for shoes or rubber. The most effective: “Desmokol”, “Uran”, “Moment Crystal”, “Rubber”. Before repairing, it is recommended to read the instructions on the package to know exactly the drying time of the glue. To avoid intoxication, it is strongly recommended to work in a well-ventilated area.

If punctures are found on the seam, the patch should be attached from the inside. To do this, you need to pull out the problem area through the valve hole using a ruler, pencil, marker or pen. Further actions are similar to repairing the product from the outside.

    "Liquid patch"

Repairing a product using “Liquid Patch” is the fastest and most effective, but expensive. This innovative product increases the strength of the connection, adds elasticity, and renews damaged PVC. Essentially, it is the same vinyl chloride, only in a liquid state. Manufacturers offer a wide range of colors, so choosing the right shade is not difficult.

Before work, it is necessary to clean the mattress from dust, dirt, and degrease the required area with alcohol. If the length of the cut is more than 3 cm, it is recommended to first sew it together using a thread and a needle. Before use, the glue should be shaken thoroughly and applied in a thin layer, leaving a distance of a couple of centimeters from the hole. After 6-7 minutes, apply a second layer and leave to dry for a day.

    Paper and iron

This is an effective way to repair a mattress without patches and without glue, but only if the damage is on a seam. It is recommended to first unscrew the valve and remove the problem area from the hole. After removing dirt and degreasing, you should place a wooden base, level the product and carefully place paper on the joint. Use a heated iron to iron the area and make sure that the device does not burn an entire, undamaged surface. After the gluing area has cooled, the paper should be removed and the valve screwed back on.

What and how to seal an air mattress at home? Today, inflatable items made of PVC are in great demand. This mattress is a very profitable purchase. It can be used on vacation. It is convenient to sunbathe, sleep, and swim in ponds. Homes are another sleeping place for unexpected guests. The mattress is convenient for storage and transportation. Easy to assemble, takes up little space. The shelf life of such a product depends on the quality and use. Over time, the mattress may develop cracks and punctures. You can fix this much-needed household item at home with your own hands. Before you begin repairs, you need to find the location of the puncture or crack. How to do it?

Having so many advantages, this product has a big disadvantage. It can tear quickly.

  • The first punctures and cracks most quickly appear on the partitions and seams of the mattress. This happens when inflated.
  • The valve is actively involved in inflation and deflation. It quickly fails and begins to spontaneously release air.
  • If you don’t pay attention to where we lay out the mattress and on what surface. The lower part of the mattress is also often punctured
  • During one run on the mattress, pets can snag it and tear it with their claws.

Locate the leak

In order to locate the leak, you need to conduct a thorough visual inspection of the product.

  • First, we rule out a valve malfunction. Place your hand near the valve, if you feel or hear air coming out, that means it's the problem.
  • Inflate the mattress and lower it into the water. For this you need a pool or some kind of pond. You won't be able to do this in the bathroom.
  • Apply soap solution to suspected damage. The foam will begin to bubble at the puncture site. This area should be outlined with a marker or felt-tip pen of a contrasting color.
  • Release the air from the mattress, pour five liters of water and any detergent into it. Then inflate the mattress. Water will begin to flow out from the damaged areas with a slight hiss.
  • And one last thing. We inflate the product. Apply water to its surface with a spray bottle. Apply tape to the moistened area. Gently smooth it out. We wait. An air bubble will inflate at the puncture site.

Once you have found the cause, you can begin repairs. If the problem is in the valve, you need to try to clean it from dust and dirt. The valve may need to be lubricated with silicone grease. This method will help if the valve is not damaged. In case of serious damage, you need to replace it, or seek help from professionals.

If you purchased your mattress in a special store, then the administration can accommodate you and repair the product at home. You need to contact a professional if the cracks are larger than 5 cm, or if the internal partitions are torn. You can't handle this on your own.

Seal holes, cracks, cuts

Before you begin, make sure the mattress is dry. Prepare the necessary material for gluing. What to glue with?

  • Rubber adhesive made from natural rubber “Discamol”.
  • Super glue "Moment Rubber" - for all types of rubber products.
  • Glue "Uranus".
  • Product for elastic rubber 88-SA-B.
  • Set of the company "Intex". It includes glue and patch material.
  • Scissors.
  • Solvent or acetone.
  • Glue brush.

The packaging with glue must have the following inscription: the glue for rubber is moisture resistant. The glue should be at room temperature. Stir thoroughly before use. Some novice craftsmen think the more glue the better. But this is not true. The glue is applied in a thin layer.

You can also purchase a special set with patches for rubber products. If you have not purchased such a kit, you can cut it yourself from a piece of elastic rubber.

To prevent the appearance of the product from deteriorating, you can seal the patch from the inside. The defective part is pulled out through the valve hole. You don't need a lot of glue. Apply to the patch and press to the surface. Allow to dry for about 12 hours.

Another reconstruction opportunity. Treat the damaged area and patch with sandpaper and alcohol. Then we select the size of the patch. The patch must be larger than the damage itself. Lubricate with glue, wait 10 minutes, and then join the patch and mattress. Squeeze tightly. It is advisable to place something heavy on the surface of the patch and leave it for 24 hours. To dry, you can turn on a hairdryer, but the air should be cool or warm.

When there are several holes you need to glue them together step by step. Wait until the previous hole is glued together and only then take on the next one.

Since the glue is toxic, it is better to carry out all work in the courtyard of the house, or in a non-residential premises. While working, try not to inhale glue fumes. It is best to wear a construction mask - a respirator. After using the glue, you should wash your hands thoroughly with soap.

Seal a hole in a velor mattress

If you find a hole in a velor surface, first of all, you need to remove all the lint from the surface. Then degrease with thinner, nail polish remover, or alcohol. You will end up with a small bald patch that needs to be treated again with a solvent. Thoroughly remove any remaining lint with a knife. Let it dry.

Next, carefully apply a thin layer of glue to the surface of the hole and the previously prepared patch. Let the glue dry. After 10-15 minutes we repeat the procedure. Again pause for 5 minutes. Then we start gluing. Now press the surfaces to be glued and hold them a little. Leave for about a day until completely dry.

After 24 hours, we inflate and check the quality of work. If air still comes out at the hole, repeat the procedure. We make the new patch larger in size. Glue it on top of the previous patch.

How to store and use an air mattress

In order for the inflatable product to serve you for a long time, you need to follow some operating rules.

  • When spreading the mattress, make sure that the surface is smooth and there are no sharp objects on it.
  • Do not place the product near heaters.
  • Do not use in low temperatures.
  • If you brought the product into the house from the cold, do not unfold it for at least an hour.
  • Inflate the mattress to 80-90% percent.
  • This kind of thing is a bad place for pets.
  • No need to jump on the mattress - this is not a trampoline.
  • For washing, use detergent without chemicals or abrasives.
  • After washing, dry thoroughly.
  • Store the mattress in a rodent-free area.
  • The item should be stored deflated.
  • If your mattress is intended for sleeping, do not use it for bathing.

You should know that there are air mattresses of different quality. Their tasks are also different. The right choice and proper application will help you significantly extend its service life. Many buyers, when purchasing a mattress for sleeping, use it for hiking or swimming. With such treatment, the shelf life of the product is reduced.

If you notice that your mattress is leaking air, but you are not sure that you can fix it, do not rush to throw it away. Contact an inflatable repair shop. Using special diagnostic equipment, professionals will find punctures and cuts. They will make quality repairs quickly and inexpensively. This mattress will serve you for many years to come.

Inflatable furniture is popular due to its convenience, ease of storage and transportation. But over time, holes appear on mattresses through which air escapes.

You can repair the damage yourself at home. Most often, damage is associated with inflating the mattress to its maximum. Manufacturers indicate in the instructions that this is prohibited, but many violate this rule.

  1. Rubber adhesive made from natural rubber Desmokol.
  2. Super Moment Crystal from Henkel.
  3. "Uranus" for rubber boats.

Do not forget that the toxins contained in adhesives can harm humans and require careful and careful handling.

It is worth remembering that compositions for working with inflatable products are flammable and there should be no open sources of fire or sparks near you.

How to seal an Intex air mattress

You will need:

  • scissors,
  • glue,
  • rubber patch,
  • glue brush,
  • sandpaper,
  • detergent or shaving foam.

VIDEO INSTRUCTION

You need to start by looking for damaged areas, it is not easy. Usually the holes are left by pets or children who like to jump around to their heart's content.

First of all, you should carefully examine the seams, joints of the surface and internal ribs.

  1. A method not used at home is to lower an inflated mattress into water and see where the air bubbles come out.
  2. At home, you can use soap or shaving foam, applying it to possible puncture sites; it will bubble in areas where air escapes.
  3. If cuts cannot be found, water and washing liquid are poured into the mattress. When pressing on the mattress, soapy water will come out with a whistle from the damaged areas.
  4. When damage is found, a patch or sticker is applied to the cut.
  5. What glue to use to seal an air mattress, the craftsmen answer - buy a kit from Intex designed for repairing inflatable things, it includes both material for patches and glue.

If the cut is at the junction of seams, then treat the area with alcohol and then glue it according to the instructions.

But in order not to spoil the appearance, glue can be applied from the inside.

  1. The damaged area is pulled out through the valve hole and the patch is attached from the inside.
  2. You will need a little glue - apply an even layer to the patch and press firmly to the surface. Leave the mattress to dry for about 12 hours.
Seal the mattress step by step

Another option for mattress reconstruction:

  1. The damaged area is treated with sandpaper.
  2. Then soak in alcohol.
  3. After this, select the size of the patch, apply glue to it and attach it to the cut site. Instead of store-bought patches, you can use rubberized materials and polyurethane glue or a compound for working with rubber.
  4. After gluing the patches, the mattress is left under pressure for 24 hours.
  5. Next, they inflate and check how securely the patch and the cut were glued together.

If there are several damages, then they need to be closed in stages, waiting until the previous seam has completely set. If after inflation the air still comes out, it means that either there are still cuts or the inlet valve is not screwed in tightly.

If the problem is in the valve:

  1. To check for problems with the valve hole, shaving foam is poured into the inflated mattress.
  2. It will foam around the valve if it is damaged.
  3. Then the valve is unscrewed and coated.
  4. The end itself is ground and treated with silicone grease and returned to its place. If the valve is seriously damaged, you will have to contact a workshop.
