Rules for compiling a summary message in short Russian. How to write a resume: our tips for job seekers

The ability to correctly compose your resume allows you to quickly get a job that would completely suit you. Now a resume is an essential attribute of any applicant for a prestigious job. A well-written resume elevates you in the eyes of the employer and gives you a lot of advantages over other candidates for a vacant position.

Today we're going to talk about how to write a resume. However, in order not to waste time compiling your own resume, you can contact a recruiting agency, professionals, but this service is not free.

What is a resume for?

Dear job seekers, remember that a well-written resume is one of the most productive means of finding a job. There are 3 main things to keep in mind when writing a resume:

  1. You have only one chance to hook the employer at the moment when your resume is read. This usually takes no more than a few minutes. If it was not possible to attract the attention of the employer, then the resume did not work;
  2. When writing a resume, be creative. Only include information that is relevant to your position and the position you are applying for. In other words, a resume should be written for each employer.

For example, if you were a consultant in a large organization and at the same time engaged in scientific work, then it is not worth it in a resume for a position as a sales manager, salesperson or sales representative to describe your scientific work and your work. It is better to list the knowledge and your skills that you have gained while doing counseling.

Proper resume writing gives you a good chance of getting the job you want.

  3. A successful resume can encourage an employer to meet you in person and you may be invited for an interview. Therefore, you must present information about yourself in such a way that the employer wants to meet with you in person.

And if you are nervous before the interview, then our advice:
help you get rid of fear.

How to write a resume

How to write a resume for a job? This issue is of concern to most applicants.
Each resume should consist of several blocks:

Contact Information

  • Full name
  • phone number
  • your residential address
  • marital status.

What to write in the purpose of the resume

In this block, you should state in 2-3 lines why you want to work in this particular organization and in this position.

What to write in work experience

In this resume block, your work experience in previous companies is written, starting with the last job. Write down in sequence all the organizations where you have ever worked, indicating the year you entered the position and the year you left. For each job, briefly describe your responsibilities and your accomplishments.

When describing your achievements, try to use such verbs as "saved", "increased", "reduced", "developed".

What to write in resume skills

This block should describe in detail your professional skills and knowledge.

For example, if you are applying for the position of a sales manager, write that you have knowledge of various sales technologies and are able to attract new customers, and do not forget to indicate your level of personal computer skills.

If you are employed as a programmer, then indicate in this block a list of programs with which you had to work.

What to write in the block "Education"

Do not focus too much on education as an employer. The more time has passed, after graduating from a higher educational institution, the less this block should be in your resume.

For example, students or graduates, this block should be placed before the previous one, since newly minted graduates, even if they have work experience, it is not significant.

Describing your education, you can mention the disciplines studied that correspond to your goal or report the awards received.

What to write in the block "Additional information"

In the "Additional Information" block, you should write, for example:

  • about knowledge of foreign languages, computer
  • mention a driver's license
  • you can write about your hobby, but only if it is related to the desired job.

What font to write a resume

In our age of modern technology, all resumes are printed on a computer, so the question arises of what font to write a resume.

Of course, you can distinguish yourself and print your resume in some designer handwritten font. However, many of these fonts are difficult to read, and the employer will not solve puzzles.

Using extravagant fonts in your resume, you will ensure that your resume is not read to the end, which means you will not be able to interest the employer.

The most suitable fonts for writing resumes are Arial and Times New Roman.

What should be a resume

The most important summary should be short, specific, active. Avoid using the verbs "participated", "helped". This confirms that you provided only one-time services. Also avoid using the pronoun "I".

You should not use phrases in your resume:

  • "I learn new things quickly"
  • "helped reduce errors"
  • "trained"

and you should write:

  • "reduced errors"
  • "Trained two employees"
  • "Mastered new technologies."

How to write a resume

An important point when looking for a job is a resume or CV (curriculum vitae) - a short form of presentation of the main personal and professional data of the applicant. This type of self-presentation has long been firmly entrenched in the Russian labor market, but, unfortunately, a well-written resume is still a rarity.
The main purpose of the resume: to get an invitation to an interview.
Remember! A resume is your calling card and a chance to get into an interview.
A well-written, concise resume will set you apart from other applicants.

When compiling a resume, you must remember that how you present your professional experience in it largely depends on your success in finding a job. A resume is the document from which the employer receives the first information about the applicant for a vacancy and makes up his mind about him. Getting acquainted with the CV takes an average of 2-3 minutes, so the information contained in it must be submitted in such a way as to immediately attract attention.
Resumes in English (or any other) language are compiled only if you are applying for a vacancy in a foreign company. A resume in Russian should be sent to a Russian company or recruitment agency, because it can get to a person who does not speak a foreign language, and at best it will be put aside, and at worst it will fly straight into the wastebasket.

An exception may be resumes of specialists who are fluent in a foreign language, or for whom knowledge of the language is one of the selection criteria (believe me that a driver's resume in English looks at least funny). But in this case, it is better to duplicate the summary: one in Russian, one in English. Thus, you can simultaneously demonstrate both knowledge of the language and respect for the person to whom your resume will fall.

Basic Rules

  1. The resume should be written for a specific field of activity (even better - for a specific position). Nobody needs a jack-of-all-trades resume (even if you really are). Do not apply for several significantly different positions in one resume at once. As a last resort, make several resumes and send only one to each firm (of course, the one that suits them best). The exception is Recruitment Agencies - sometimes you can send them both resumes, explaining the situation in a cover letter.
  2. Try to keep your resume to one, maximum two pages.
  3. The resume should be typed in a clear, legible font, preferably on a computer, but never handwritten. It is important to consider that the employer can receive your resume by fax, and fax machines significantly degrade print quality, so the font must be at least 11.
  4. Make sure your resume contains enough contact information so that the employer can easily contact you.
  5. Place the dates on the left side of the resume, and the description of jobs and educational institutions on the right.
  6. Be the first to describe the qualities that are important for the job you are applying for.
  7. Do not include information in your resume that could negatively affect your attitude.
  8. Try to add as much information as possible to your resume that demonstrates that you are a good fit for the position.
  9. Labor activity is the part of your biography that is most interesting for potential employers. Therefore, it is worth devoting more time to this and providing the most complete information. It is important to clarify the profile of the company (you must agree, sometimes the name of the company can tell little about anything), as well as job responsibilities, where you can reflect what you directly had to do, which will significantly expand the range of your professional opportunities in the eyes of your future leaders. The employer is interested in real experience, on the basis of which it is possible to draw a conclusion about the degree of professionalism. This information must be indicated in chronological order (preferably from the last place of work), and it is necessary to clarify the periods of work in relation to the specific place of your work activity.
  10. Ask a friend to read your resume, this will help identify spelling and stylistic errors.
  11. Don't write your entire biography. It is unlikely that the employer will be interested in your school years.
  12. There should be no white spots in your work experience. If your seniority was interrupted for a long time, you need to figure out in advance how to explain such a break.
  13. Do not write banal things: "hardworking", "I work well in a team." It is better to reflect this in the description of your achievements.
  14. Be careful when describing your interests/hobbies. It is better not to write about them in the resume.
  15. Your CV must contain the date the resume was sent, so that the HR manager can find out when it was compiled, because. the data may be outdated, which means that a preliminary conversation is necessary to clarify a number of questions, and the most important of them: do you continue your job search?

Items to be included in a resume

  1. Personal data and contacts
  2. Profile
  3. Education
  4. work experience
  5. Additional skills: Computer skills / Foreign languages / Interests (optional)

1. Personal data and contacts

Personal data - full name, age (preferably date of birth), marital status, address and telephone number.

2. Profile

If you are a qualified professional, you can write a short resume to highlight the areas in which you specialize, as well as your main skills and abilities.

3. Education

It consists of two sections: basic (secondary, secondary specialized, higher, 2nd higher) and additional (internship courses, trainings, seminars, etc.). In both cases, it is necessary to indicate the name of the educational institution, faculty, specialty according to the diploma (if we are talking about courses, then the specialization or name of the course is indicated).

4. Experience

It contains information about previous jobs. It is more convenient for an employer or an employee of a recruitment agency if they are arranged in descending order, i.e. starting from the last one. You indicate the month and year of employment and the month and year of dismissal, the name of the company, the scope of the organization and your position. Pay special attention to the indication of the field of activity of the company in which you worked. It is not enough to write "production" or "trade". Be sure to disclose what exactly the company traded and what exactly the company produced. Do not use such general concepts as "food" or "consumer goods", try to specify as accurately as possible the group of goods or services with which you worked, because. very often such a narrow specificity is of fundamental importance for the employer. Do not forget to briefly describe the job responsibilities at each job, because. Responsibilities vary from company to company for the same position.

5. Additional skills

Computer proficiency

Computer proficiency contains information about your PC skills (user, advanced user, operator, programmer), as well as programs, environments, languages, databases with which you worked.

Foreign languages

Knowledge of foreign languages. You indicate all foreign languages and the degree to which you speak them. Adhere to the following wordings: "perfect" - knowledge of the language at the level of a native speaker, knowledge of simultaneous translation; "fluently" - knowledge of consecutive translation, the ability to communicate freely in a foreign language within any subject. "good" - the ability to competently express one's thoughts in a foreign language, as well as to understand the interlocutor. "conversational" - communication at the household level, the ability to understand simple speech, to convey known information to the interlocutor. "basic" - knowledge of the elementary foundations of the language, communication at the level of "How are you?", "Today is good weather", the ability to understand a simple text.

Additional Information

Here you provide the information that you consider necessary to convey to the employer: the presence of a driver's license, a personal car, a passport, the possibility of business trips. Interests, hobbies and personal qualities can also be included here, it is also permissible to single them out in a separate paragraph.

Sample resume

Interview

  1. You received a call in response to a resume. Appreciate the time of the interlocutor. Speak clearly and specifically. Optimal talk time: about 5 minutes. If during the conversation you are invited for an interview, ask where and at what time you need to drive up. Find out what documents to bring with you.
  2. No need to attach your photo to your resume, just have it with you when you are invited for an interview.
  3. Don't lie. This can lead to rejection if you are exposed. The employer can make inquiries about you at previous jobs and you will be in an uncomfortable position if you tell a lie.
  4. Remember! Not only you are chosen, but you also choose the place of work. Your task is to get as much information as possible about the vacancy and about the company at the interview. It may very well be that orders, limited smoke breaks or something else will absolutely not suit you.
    Here is an example list:
    - salary (if in USD, then find out the rate), regularity of payments, "black" or "white".
    - work schedule (overtime, business trips).
    - social package (medical insurance, sick leave, vacation, fitness, food, travel, mobile phone, car).
    - bonuses/penalties
  5. When feigning activity in an interview, don't overdo it. Remember: the best is the enemy of the good. Everything is useful in moderation.
  6. Never be upset if you are not accepted. From personal experience: when looking for a job, I was refused 2 times in companies where, as it turned out, I should not have worked.
  7. Try to remain calm, no matter how tricky the question you are asked at the interview. There is nothing personal here. A recruiter or employer is asking you about things that at first glance have absolutely nothing to do with your future work, not out of idle curiosity and not to hurt your pride. They have a completely different task - to find the most suitable candidate that meets the requirements. Show that you understand this, show patience, answer all questions kindly, without irritation. This willingness to cooperate will certainly be appreciated and will help you get ahead of other job applicants.
Questions that recruiters or employers will ask you can also be “uncomfortable”. Try to think over the answers to them in advance, and then your chances of getting a job will increase significantly.
  8. Be prepared to answer any additional questions about your resume.
Remember! For each resume item, you may be asked, “Why…….?” and you should calmly, without hesitation, answer.
For practice, you can go through interviews in companies that you are not interested in, in order to gain experience in interviewing. At the 4-5th interview, you will already be able to calmly and confidently answer all the questions and are more likely to pass the interview.
  9. When applying through Recruitment Agencies, remember: you must follow all the rules of the interview even better than in an interview with an employer. KA makes money by providing candidates to different companies. If you did not get into one company, but managed to show the CA consultant that you are a professional in your field, then you will definitely be invited for an interview in other companies.

Follow our resume writing tips and be sure you will be invited for an interview!

Summary - this is the document, having skimmed through which, the employer will quickly decide whether it is worth meeting with you to take a closer look at you as a potential employee, or not.

The maximum time during which the resume "works" or finally and irrevocably "does not work" is two to three minutes. Therefore, the resume should be written simply, formatted in the manner familiar to the employer, contain only useful information and clearly explain to the employer why you should be preferred to other applicants for the existing vacancy.

Ideally - 1 page of standard A4 format. As a last resort - 2 such pages. If it seems to you that all the information does not fit into such a volume, it means that you have not separated important information from not very important.

Separate the unnecessary! Do not create discomfort for a potential employer at the first contact.

Paper and printing
Use thick white paper. Print only with non-branded black ink, it is certainly preferable - on a laser printer. Your resume can be faxed, photocopied, put in a folder with other papers. It should look good. In no case do not write by hand - no one wants to parse someone else's handwriting!

Registration
Print on one side of the paper. Leave large enough margins. No photos, shading, patterns, frames - all this will be smeared when copying and faxing. Refuse decorative fonts, italics, underlining - this clutters up the text.

Try to avoid horizontal and vertical lines as much as possible. Use standard Times New Roman or Arial fonts in sizes 10 to 14. Use bold font and size (remaining within the specified limits) for the necessary headings and subheadings. Maintain a consistent style throughout the document.

Language
The CV must necessarily be drawn up primarily in Russian, even if it is intended for a foreign employer. Indeed, in most cases, it will first pass through the hands of Russian-speaking recruiters.

In necessary cases (foreign employer, work with fluency in a foreign language), a copy in the relevant language should be attached. In no case should there be spelling and syntactical errors in the resume (that is, all letters and punctuation marks should be strictly in their places). The text should be stylistically literate and homogeneous, that is, it should not give the impression that different sections or phrases were written by different people.

If you are not sure of your literacy, let your friends, whose literacy you trust, or specialists check the text. It is desirable that the version in a foreign language be finally edited by a native speaker or, in extreme cases, a person with sufficient experience in domestic and business communication in this language.

Re-read your resume several times after breaks in working with it. A fresh look will immediately catch on to flaws!

Resume distribution

If you have a specific employer in mind, contact him first.

Submit your resume to recruiting agencies. Don't limit yourself to one agency - the employer you are interested in may be associated with another!

Prepare an electronic version of your resume. Place it on specialized sites for job searches and job offers. Never limit yourself to one site - there are many of them, and new ones are constantly appearing.

Remember: the employer looks at mostly fresh resumes. Therefore, once a week, re-send your resume to specialized sites.

Summary content

Surname, Name and Patronymic. The word "resume" is not required. It is better to write large (font 18-20), in the center, on top of your last name, first name and patronymic. Such a title will help you quickly find your resume in a pile of hundreds of similar papers. The words "Surname", "Name" and "Patronymic" do not need to be written.

Target
Briefly, but very specifically, describe what position you are applying for. This is the defining point of the resume. After reading it, the employer will immediately think of you from a certain angle. The entire text of the summary that follows is proof that your candidacy meets precisely this specific goal.

If you consider yourself capable of applying for one of several positions, list them all, putting the most suitable for you first.

Contact coordinates
Indicate your postal address, phone numbers with contact time (for example, from 10.00 to 19.00 on weekdays), e-mail, fax. Remember: the employer can read your resume at any time convenient for him.

He should be able to reach out to the phone or type your address on the keyboard - and contact you. If he postpones the communication session, tomorrow he may be interested in other candidates for the position.

Education
List the schools, courses, technical schools, institutes that you graduated from or where you study. Mention only places of study that are significant in terms of the job you are looking for.

List educational institutions either in reverse chronological order (first - the latest, in the end - the earliest), or according to the principle of significance: from the most important for the job you are looking for to the least important.

For each educational institution, please report: the year and month of the beginning and end of studies; the exact name; location (city, country); the department where you studied - if this information is useful for the job you are looking for; the qualification assigned to you (diploma, certificate, certificate, title).

Work experience in reverse chronological order
This is the main part of the resume. Places of work should be listed in reverse chronological order, from latest to first. You need to indicate the years and months of the beginning and end of work, positions (there may be several of them at one job if, for example, you had a career growth) and main duties (it is advisable to describe them as completely as possible, because this is what the employer will be interested in) and production achievements (write using action verbs: developed, introduced, increased, reduced, saved, etc.; strive for specifics: increased by 20%, introduced technology "X", etc.).

It is not necessary to describe your entire track record. The employer is really interested in your last 3 - 5 jobs in the last 10 years or so. Do not upset the employer by mentioning places of work where you stayed for a short time. It is desirable at the same time to have as few gaps in seniority as possible.

Work skills
In this section, you should indicate your opportunities that may be useful at the intended place of work, although they do not relate to direct official duties. Here you can mention the possession of a driver's license, possession of any software, familiarity with one or another hardware, knowledge of a foreign language (if these skills are only indirectly related to your work). This section should not be overloaded with information that has nothing to do with future work.

Additional Information
Awards, social activities, hobbies - if it positively characterizes you as an employee. Indicate the possibility of providing recommendations - if you have recommendations from people whose opinion may be of interest to the employer. If there is nothing of the kind, it is better not to enter this section in the Summary.

And now let's look at this issue from a different point of view and take a more thorough approach to compiling our own resume.

Before writing a resume (CV), try to put yourself in the place of your future leader and imagine what kind of person you would like to see in your team. This will help you highlight key points in your work biography, emphasize especially in-demand skills and abilities, and find the right words to describe your achievements.

Do not hesitate - the one who reads the resume will definitely notice your interest!

Thinking outside the box and out of the box

When looking for a job, it is easiest for job seekers to fill out a template that is offered on job sites or recruitment agencies. A resume template has its pros and cons. On the one hand, it is clearly structured, unified and compiled based on the requests of personnel services. On the other hand, a universal resume is not focused on a specific company and a specific vacancy, so you need to adjust it every time, taking into account the situation.

First of all, you should accurately indicate the name of the position for which you are applying, and in the wording of the employer. Even if you can work in different specialties with equal success, do not make the HR manager guess which position you are best suited for.

Before submitting your resume, carefully read the requirements for applicants and the duties to be performed. The employer will pay attention to you if your qualifications and experience correspond to the vacancy as much as possible.

Some HR managers even advise you to literally copy the description of the functionality given by the employer and paste it into your resume with some amendments. If you use this technique, do not forget that you are responsible for the truthfulness of the information about yourself, and if it is not true, it will inevitably come to light during the interview, testing or during the trial period.

Chronological or functional?

Templates, as a rule, involve the compilation of a chronological resume, in which the experience of a specialist is described starting from the last place of work. At the same time, information about basic and additional education is usually placed at the end of the text. This type of resume is certainly suitable for those for whom each previous position can serve as a good springboard for a new career jump.

For example, as an HR manager in a small company, you are quite competitive among applicants for an HR manager position in a well-known company and you can find a job with better conditions.

In some cases, a chronological resume turns against the applicant. For example, a representative of an employer company looking for a person for the position of "legal consultant" is unlikely to take seriously a resume whose author has worked as a decorator for the past three years, even if he graduated from the law faculty of a prestigious university.

In this case, the applicant will have a chance if he makes a functional resume, while emphasizing not only his specialty in accordance with the diploma, but also special knowledge in the professional field.

The candidate is right!

What should be the resume to interest the employer? Some personnel officers answer: "It must be adequate." In other words, you should not overload it with unnecessary information, at the same time, you should not allow noticeable gaps. Exorbitant amounts of expected remuneration are not welcome, however, the dumping level of wages also casts doubt on the competence of the applicant.

When looking for a job in Moscow, keep in mind that resumes, the authors of which are “too lazy” to clearly write about what they can do, make a very unfavorable impression. A person who changes jobs every six months is suspicious.

If over the past ten years you have changed 20 positions, it is unlikely that the employer will have enough time and patience to study the entire list. At the same time, the fact that you worked in some successful company that enjoys the undeniable respect of the new employer can play a decisive role.

Complete ignore?

What resumes are being ignored? Oddly enough, there are people who forget to write their first name, last name, phone number. Some believe that knowledge of spelling is not necessary for them and make monstrous mistakes. Others do not consider it necessary to indicate the names of the companies in which they worked, but list all their hobbies and hobbies.

Often, the employer is frightened off by the listing of personal merits and awards, especially if their owner did not bother to clearly describe his skills. And although personnel officers will never admit that the age and gender of a candidate matter, in fact, these criteria are decisive for many companies and positions.

We follow the rules

There are separate types of resumes that are written according to their own rules. For example, a young specialist or student can describe the skills acquired during an internship or study practice, indicate the topics of term papers and speeches at scientific conferences.

Looking for a job in a foreign company? You must demonstrate knowledge of the relevant language. If the description of the vacancy and job responsibilities is given in a foreign language, then the resume must be written in it.

Resume Requirements

If you decide not to use ready-made templates and write a resume yourself, consider the basic requirements. Be sure to indicate the last name, first name, patronymic and contact details (telephone, e-mail, postal address). It is advisable to state the date of birth.

In the "Education" section, indicate the period of study, the name of the educational institution, the faculty, the specialty received and the title. A noticeable advantage can be provided by information about additional education, completion of advanced training courses, special trainings.

Work experience is described in chronological order, starting with the most recent job:
work period
The name of the company
position
official duties
major achievements

Do not forget that employers are interested in your professional skills, since in different organizations the functions of employees with the same job title can vary markedly. Your success largely depends on how clearly and specifically you describe your competencies.

Let's analyze two resumes for the vacancy of a director.

First candidate
Organization of the work of a team of more than 500 people, development and implementation of new projects for the organization of production and sales of new products; holding business meetings, conferences, presentations, round tables, seminars and exhibitions. Business correspondence, planning, work with contracts, contracts, databases. Personal contacts in state structures. Confident user of office equipment and PC (Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet, Outlook).

Second candidate
Implementation of various projects "from scratch" in the field of production, including a business plan, specifications, IRD, design and technical solutions.

As you can see, the first description is more detailed and detailed, it allows you to judge the priorities of a person. Most likely, this person will be invited to a meeting with the head of the organization.

On other people's mistakes

To write a winning resume, take a look at the resumes of your colleagues, that is, competitors applying for a similar position. Determine your competitive advantages and be sure to describe them. Pay attention to what you thought was inappropriate in other resumes, and try not to repeat the mistakes of others.

Often, people who are looking for a job ask themselves the question: is it worth posting your resume in the public domain if it can get lost among thousands of similar ones? Experience shows that many employers, in case of urgent need, look for fresh resumes on the Internet on job sites. Therefore, if you have chosen this tactic, you need to "raise" your resume at least once a week.

A more effective way to find a job is considered to be mailing to suitable vacancies. If the employer indicated not only his email address, but also his phone number, be sure to call, introduce yourself, inform about the sent resume and express your interest in becoming an employee of this company. You can also write about this in a cover letter.

Get it done in 3 minutes

To the question “what is an HR filter?” hiring managers laugh it off: “This is when there is a stack of resumes on the table, you take the top two, and throw the rest away. They just got unlucky today." In reality, it takes no more than three minutes for an experienced recruiter to look at a resume and determine: “Perhaps this is our person, we need to invite him for an interview.”

For a personal meeting with the employer, you will need a more detailed resume. In it you can list not only the main, but also additional competencies, talk about achievements, indicate the trainings and special courses completed, note the possession of special technologies, describe successful projects implemented with your participation.

So, now you know the recipe for how to write a resume that will interest the employer. To increase your chances of getting the job you want, register and post your resume on job search sites. This will allow you to find a highly paid and prestigious job in the shortest possible time!

If every job seeker knew that he has only 3 minutes to "hook" the employer, then resumes would be made more qualitatively, responsibly and concisely. Self-presentation should look so that the personnel officer wants to meet with you and discuss the prospects for further cooperation.

What is a resume

Many candidates underestimate these career life sheets, and in vain, because the employer, without seeing you, can judge by your skills whether you are suitable for a particular job. A resume is a real document, so it must be neat, pedantic, and also include a number of mandatory points. An experienced recruiter will identify a useful document in 2 minutes. How to write a resume so that you do not fall into the list of outsiders, but win the competition for the main prize - an in-person interview?

Rules for compiling a resume

Start working on the document with your full name, purpose, contact information, age and marital status. Specify your key qualities, skills, work experience, education, achievements. Intuition will not tell you how to write a resume correctly - you need to follow certain business rules, the knowledge of which will also be assessed by the personnel department or the head of the company.

What should a resume look like?

Visually, this document should look concise, strict, business-like. Try not to experiment with fonts, text colors, backgrounds, highlights (underlining, bold, italics). The volume of self-presentation should not exceed 2 pages, ideally, the recruiter should have 1 sheet on the table.

What to write about yourself

Visual perception of the document often stimulates the decision to call for an interview. You need to structure information correctly. How to write a resume and correctly fill out each of the blocks to make a favorable impression:

  1. Last name, first name, patronymic, date of birth - according to the passport. Avoid nicknames, abbreviations, false information.
  2. The goal for you is to apply for the position “…”.
  3. "Contact" includes a current personal phone number, active email and address (if applicable).
  4. Marital status must be stated in fact. There are 3 possible options that you need to write in your resume: married, single, civil marriage.
  5. Education - in chronological or functional order. Seminars and “circles” that are insignificant for this vacancy should preferably not be taken into account so as not to visually overload the document and not waste the time of a recruiter. Stop at the main profession required in the vacancy.
  6. Work experience is indicated in the order that will be of interest to a particular employer. If you worked as a chief accountant for 3 years, then got a job as a sales manager, and now decided to return to the financial sector, then more important experience will be located at the top. How to create a resume that is not overloaded with "extra" companies? The employer is interested in work experience over the past 10 years, the maximum length of service in one company, the last place of employment. In this paragraph, the following data should be concisely indicated: time range, name of the organization, position.
  7. Achievements include functional information: “developed”, “trained”, “mastered”, “supervised (number of people)”, “saved”, “developed”. This is how the recruiter will evaluate your potential usefulness, so it is important that he can quickly find your key skills in the canvas of the document.

Field of activity in the resume - what to write

The "Additional Information" block is a section of your skills. Describe your knowledge of languages, computer, additional level of knowledge in any field, personal qualities. What to write in a resume about yourself to stand out among thousands of faceless self-presentations? A sample of a well-written document is never full of information about the applicant's hobby, if it is not in addition to his professional skills. Think about how to present yourself correctly and interest the employer in your person.

How to write a resume for a student

Immediately after graduation, your work experience is not diverse, and an adequate employer understands this. How to properly write a resume so that it turns out to be concise, but meaningful? Students and graduates often omit the “Work Experience” block altogether, compensating for the “gap” with widespread information in the “Education” section. The knowledge acquired at conferences, international seminars, courses is much more important for the organization than a month of part-time work as a waiter in a cafe. You can also list your awards and distinctions and indicate the topic of the diploma.

How to fill out a resume if you are writing such a document for the first time? The easiest way is to use a sample from job search sites, but then you are unlikely to be able to claim individuality. A competent way out of the situation is to study the rules, find out more information on how to write a resume correctly, and follow it. If you are preparing a self-presentation to be sent to a branch of a large company, and linguistic knowledge is the key skill of the job seeker, it is better to issue the document in 2 copies - in Russian and in a foreign language.

Sample of a good job resume

Your checklist when compiling a document will look like this:

  • brevity of presentation;
  • the severity of the design;
  • no frills in the form of a bright background, patterns, underlining;
  • availability of all necessary blocks;
  • competent, concise and informative presentation of the material.

Drawing up a resume is one of the important stages on the way to employment, and the most important thing is to draw it up correctly, because the decision to even invite you for an interview largely depends on this. And if earlier, a resume was compiled for applicants who apply for high positions, suggesting a lot of practical experience and knowledge, now this document is created by almost everyone. Consider what it contains and how to write a resume for a job.

The main task that is set before the resume is the successful sale to the employer of your knowledge, skills and desire to work for the benefit of the company. Naturally, an integral task for you is to receive the highest wages that are generally possible. One of the most important assistants will be a properly compiled resume, and after that, a successful presentation of yourself at an interview as an employee needed by the company. Try to draw up the document correctly and briefly - on 1-2 sheets of A4 format.

And so, what should be indicated in the questionnaire, its structure.

Applicant's personal information

When compiling a resume, the template should include your contact information (phone number, address and email) and the city where you live. It is worth noting that HRs and managers who select their own staff can even pay attention to the name of the mailbox.

For example, [email protected] it is unlikely that there will be a great desire to invite such a person for an interview, so it is better to indicate a box that does not mean anything, say in the form of a phone number, name, etc.

In the questionnaire, it is desirable to indicate the age, if it plays in your favor. And although there is a ban on age discrimination by law, you may not be among the invitees. The same applies to photography, as a rule, its absence does not arouse interest from the personnel department, but on the contrary, it can cause a feeling that a person is hiding something.

You should not post photos in a swimsuit if you are not going to get a job in a modeling agency - it should be businesslike or reflect your hobbies. So, if you get a job as a security guard, then a photograph in a kimono will come in handy; pretend to be a leader, it is better to choose an office background, and you should be wearing a suit.

From practice, about 87% of employers will prefer a questionnaire with a photograph of the applicant.

Wishes for future work

In the eyes of the employer, you should have a definite goal and self-confidence. There should be no discrepancy between the responsibilities in the resume and the proposed vacancy. If your desired position and the vacant one are fundamentally different, then you should make another resume specifically for this particular proposal.

Almost all well-known systems, such as HH.ru, JoB.ru, Superjob.ru, allow you to copy one of the resumes filled out on the site. Don't miss out on these little things. You should also specify the minimum wage and starting salary. At a minimum, you will save yourself from negligent employers who pay in the black and delay wages.

Specify work experience

A very significant point will be your experience in previous jobs, if any, of course. As a rule, places of work are indicated in chronological order, starting with the most recent:

  • Place of work (name of organization and field of activity), if there are too many companies, then it will be enough to indicate the last 3-4 places or describe the most significant ones.
  • period of your employment.
  • Position you hold, indicate if there were transfers within the company, promotions and incentives.
  • The resumes of applicants who indicate their achievements in the workplace stand out very favorably, and even better if they are confirmed by numbers, for example: by 15%. Thus, you show your importance and this will be your added value in relation to other candidates.

Education

First of all, it is necessary to indicate the most significant and suitable education for the vacancy, including courses completed. Moreover, we write better education with more recent dates, and various irrelevant courses are unlikely to play any role. For example, you are applying for the position of a sales manager, then the personnel officer will not be interested in the information that you have completed cutting and sewing courses, unless you get a job in a fabric and tailoring store.

Professional skills

A separate item indicates professional skills - the knowledge that you have acquired in educational institutions, at previous jobs or on your own. Separately, the degree of knowledge of foreign languages is indicated (especially the conversational and technical level is valued) and computer skills. However, it is often possible to see incorrectly written titles of projects in the resume, and it is desirable to indicate the names of foreign programs in English.

Do not use a lot of flattering reviews about yourself, for example, “the ability to cooperate with the team”, “great work experience”, often excessive praise can not play in your favor, it is better if the HRs make such conclusions themselves. If the resume template is compiled for a specific offer, it is worth using the mirror method, that is, the application of the required skills, as it is written in the vacancy. Use the same keywords that the employer needs, thus you will speak with him in his language.

Additional information about yourself

This section mentions readiness for business trips, moving from one city to another, and, if necessary, agreement to work overtime. If necessary and appropriate, then you need to indicate the presence of a driver's license and its category, especially if the vacancy requires it. The presence of a foreign passport, marital status, as well as your hobbies. It will be good if you include your positive qualities, for example, initiative, diligence, sociability, and so on. Any leader will be happy with an executive and experienced employee. If there are recommendations, they can also be submitted.

If you have indicated recommenders in your resume, then make sure that they are ready to give you a positive response, a valid phone number is written and whether they remember you at all. It will be comical if a potential employer calls the specified phone number, and he will be told in response: “Ivanov? Who they are, I don't know!" or another person will answer the specified phone. All this will indicate that you want to deceive the HR department, so it’s better not to write recommendations at all than to get into the described situation.

The most common resume writing mistakes

Before posting your resume online or sending it to a potential employer, you need to carefully check what you wrote in it. Even the presence of grammatical and phraseological errors will play a negative role. It is better if you first let an experienced HR from another company read it. Their eyes are already marked, and often, they can see serious mistakes at a glance.

What are the most common resume mistakes?

  1. Contact information is missing or incorrect.
  2. Error in date and place of birth.
  3. There is no information about education received.
  4. The presence of a large number of abbreviations that may be incomprehensible to other people. If the resume is written by hand, then the handwriting must be legible and readable.
  5. The presence of stylistic and grammatical errors.
  6. The style of presentation resembles the rewriting of a work book.

In order to avoid typos, you can let relatives or friends read what you wrote if you did not find an HR, and when compiling a resume, use special text editors, for example, MS Word, which allow you to check words for errors. It happens that employers have developed their own form for conducting a survey of employees, which requires, among other things, a photograph. But if your copy is written correctly, then you can transfer the data to the employer's form.
